would have liked it to Adult only
Loved the location the beach could have been racked nightly we think to look more beautiful in the mornings. It would have been nice to have some beach lighting alittle to lay out there at night. when we checked in we did not like the time it took and the sales pitch for buying massages and things like that she went to far we feel and kept us from enjoying our first day and she just kept trying to make the deal sweeter and we we turned off!
We travel every year for a 10-12 day vacation in Mexico. This is the first resort we were extremely disappointed in. The good reviews are surprising to me. First- this is really a condominium resort- most of what you see in all pictures are condos- not the Dreams Resort. The actual resort are the 2 small buildings in the very back. What was good? The rooms are very nice. The beach is beautiful. The staff (except at the Preferred Club check-in) What was not good? We booked a preferred club room- our ocean view included: a road beneath our room that we would hear cars, doors beeping, etc. Also, our view looked at another condo in front of us, and the roof tops of the restaurants, then far in the distance was the ocean. Every resort that we have stayed in - in a preferred club room with ocean view/front has always been the best location at the resort. This was NOT the case here. The food is okay - and we are not very picky- but it is mostly just okay - not terrible- you can find things that are good. Coffee - terrible. Very watered down. Premium brands - not really. A few in the preferred club where you need to make your own drink, but never any ice - anywhere. Entertainment - not good. The shows are pushed into a room at the back of the resort. We were told - no outside shows because the condo guests want it quiet. This must be a Time Share hub for all Amstar Resorts. Everyday at breakfast in the buffet, there were tons of them from different resorts. The waiters did not cater to the guests, but instead, the time share customers. The ran to those tables with trays of fresh fruit juice, while we had a hard time getting a coffee or a glass of water. Beach - all chairs “reserved” by 7:15am. Not enough areas for shade. We purchased an umbrella and hauled it back and forth - not very 5 star. There is more, and I feel bad leaving a bad review, but I don’t want anyone else to be fooled by what they are booking. This is a condo resort, MOT a True Dreams Resort. We stayed at Dreams Riviera Cancun and absolutely loved it, that was why we booked here. I would rate it a 2 or 3 star resort. First time we have ever been disappointed by our resort choice :(
We wanted to cancel our hotel reservations since the wedding we were going to attend has been cancelled, and the hotel is going to be closed. They won't take cancellation requests, if you phone they patch you to a line that tries to sell you another reservation, and meanwhile they are proceeding to charge my credit card for the balance on the reservation. Don't use these guys they aren't honest!
Pretty hotel and nice beach
We went during the off season in January so it wasn't super busy. Hotel staff were very kind and friendly (but they will try to sell you timeshares in exchange for free excursions). We booked our hotel through Costco Travel. Grounds were nice and clean. Beach had nice sand and was also kept very clean. Water was warm and waves were not big- but good for body surfing. Food wasn't bad, but it was surprisingly hard to find traditional Mexican food at the hotel. Friday was taco night but other nights were fully of traditional comfort food (pasta, cheesy stuff). I have food allergies and didn't have any reactions while we here. They were kind and very accommodating about this. We had a great stay.
