  Fabulous hotel & staff

  We absolutely loved this hotel! We stayed in the new Preferred section, which was absolutely stunning. Although quite a walking distance from the older section of the hotel and the beach, there are golf carts running all the time to transport guests around the property. There is also a beautiful mangrove bridge walk, which links both parts of the property - it is the most amazing walk, both during the day and at night. Loads of fish, turtles, iguanas & birdlife...it's an absolute haven. The rooms were great. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite, which was beautiful & so spacious. Housekeeping & mini bar replenishment could not be faulted. The staff in general were amazing & went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable. Special mention to our concierge, Marcello and Izaa, the barman at the Preferred Lounge, as well as the wonderful staff at the Preferred section restaurants for breakfast and lunch. Our one and only 'complaint' would be that food was often cold & some of the dishes at a couple of the restaurants fell below what we would consider acceptable quality levels. That said, there is so much variety that we never went hungry! I would highly recommend this hotel!

  5 Dreams + Hyatt Ziva Resorts Later (in 17 months)

  # 6 Resorts in 17 Months – Why Dreams Royal Beach Was Our Favorite for a Family Vacation We consider ourselves a pretty seasoned traveling family of four, with two children ages 8 and 6. Over the past 17 months, from June 2025 when we celebrated my 45th birthday through October 2026 for my wife's 40th birthday, we've visited six resorts in the Dominican Republic, in this order: Hyatt Ziva, Dreams Macao, Dreams Flora, Dreams Dominicus La Romana, Dreams La Romana, and most recently, Dreams Royal Beach. I'm a very observant and meticulous customer, especially when it comes to service, accommodations, overall experience, and getting value for what you're paying. After comparing all six resorts, I can confidently say that Dreams Royal Beach was our favorite and, in my opinion, offered the best overall value for a family vacation in the Punta Cana area. If you're traveling with children, this would absolutely be my top recommendation. Hyatt Ziva is certainly a superb resort with excellent restaurants, outstanding amenities, and a well-deserved reputation. However, it also comes at a considerably higher price point. Where Dreams Royal Beach really stood out to us was the combination of customer service, Preferred Club experience, and room accommodations that worked exceptionally well for a family with young children. Our room had a king bed, a separate living area with a pullout double sofa bed for the kids, and, most importantly, two separate bathrooms and a door dividing the spaces. This setup essentially gave us the privacy and convenience of two connecting rooms for the price of one. Anyone traveling with children can appreciate how valuable that is! Customer service was hands down the best we've experienced across all six resort visits. The staff was genuinely attentive, accommodating, and consistently went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We also found that the staff generally had a stronger command of English compared to our experiences at the other resorts, which made communication much easier. A few individuals deserve special recognition: - Daily, our waiter in the Preferred Club, who provided outstanding and attentive service. - Mayker, our Personal Concierge, who did an excellent job taking care of our requests and helping make my wife's 40th birthday special. - Jefry, our bartender at the Preferred Club beach area, who was fantastic throughout our stay. The food was comparable to what we've experienced at the other Dreams properties. I wouldn't say the restaurants necessarily stood out above the rest, particularly when compared to Hyatt Ziva, which I still consider superior in that category. However, the overall service, atmosphere, ambiance, and experience at Royal Beach more than made up for that difference. One thing worth mentioning is the considerable distance between the Preferred Club area and the beach. Depending on where you're staying, it can be a bit of a walk. That said, the resort does an excellent job accommodating guests with golf carts and transportation between the lobbies and beach. We never found this to be a significant inconvenience because the staff was very attentive. The long walk through the Lagoon on the bridge was certainly a nice touch. My final recommendation: If you're comparing resorts in the Punta Cana area and traveling with children, I really don't think you can go wrong with Dreams Royal Beach. We've experienced several excellent properties, including some at substantially higher price points, and Royal Beach delivered the best combination of service, accommodations, atmosphere, and overall value for our family. I would also strongly recommend upgrading to the Preferred Club. In our experience, the additional cost was absolutely worth it. After six resort visits in 17 months, Dreams Royal Beach has earned the top spot on our family's list, and that's not something I say lightly.

  Amazing vacation

  This hotel is very nice and clean. Our whole family really enjoyed our vacation here. A staff member named Jose C. was available to us the entire time and helped us with everything. Thanks!

  Definitely not a 5 star resort

  Though the people were nice. The rest didn't match 5 star standards. The people also didn't know much. They were giving different information. Example the French resturant mercure they said reservation is not necessary but then they said kids are not allowed. But the correct information is kids are allowed from 05.30pm to 06.30pm with reservation. Cleaning was mediocre. Plates were dirty. Check-in didn't offer me a preferred club upgrade. Didn't even ask if I was interested. I didnt know about Hyatt app where I can check the activities of each day. No one told me about this. They use lot of dye/coloring in the food. Very harmful. Overall it was mediocre experience. Though they tried to fix some of things once I complained by offering free wine cellar dinner, 25 mins Spa etc. Again the people were very nice but its not a 5 star resort.
