Food was appauling
The worst food experience while travelling all inclusive. The main restaurant / breakfast room was tiny in comparison to the hotel and we experienced waits of up to an hour! Room service was equally as bad so would advise finding other alternatives in the area. You should also be aware that there are many weddings at the hotel and to nicest bar is then closed to hotel guests.
So close to perfection...
My wife and I booked travel through Costco for this trip to celebrate our 15-year wedding anniversary. Here are the highs and lows: Highs + Costco Travel is the way to go! Great deal that included airfare, resort, transfers to/from airport, and a Costco gift card. + The Staff, especially Alonzo, who took care of all of our poolside imbibing needs. He also helped secure an umbrella one day when we wanted a change of scenery poolside. He was always there with a smile, remembered our names and our drinks, was super polite, and was the standout member of the staff for us on our stay. There were others, but I fail to remember everyone's name... The STAFF as a whole was incredible and is the only reason I'd consider returning to this resort. + The Pool... it was the perfect temperature and very clean. + The Food... I loved the food, especially the Mexican, Italian, and the Sushi. + The Views... we had an ocean view on the 6th floor and the sunset views were incredible. + Even though beach was closed we could still swim in the ocean every day and didn't see a single person get approached and asked to leave the beach. Lows - Our first room smelled strongly of mildew. Had it cleaned twice before they moved us into a different room that didn't' smell. Next day someone was working on the room and the following day our friends were put in that room and the smell was gone. Our issue was resolved with a new room and it was good to know it wasn't in our heads as they had someone in there working the following day (loud banging), but it wasn't the welcome we were hoping for (first few hours trying to resolve). - When I booked the trip I noted that we were coming for our 15 year wedding anniversary. I even called a week prior to see what was the latest with covid and they knew we were coming for our anniversary. There was nothing said/done when we arrived to make us feel special on such a big day/time in our lives together. Not until the 4th day of the trip when a banner was placed over our door saying "Happy Anniversary." Somewhat disappointing. - My wife is gluten-free, not because she wants to be but because she has to be for medical reasons. I called ahead and was told there would be multiple options at every restaurant and that they would be listed on the menu. This was not the case. There were things they could make gluten-free, but other than salads, nothing was specifically gluten-free and there was no specific gluten-free menu or notation on the menu. She was able to enjoy a few things but eating most of the same the entire 8 days got old. Also, when gf options were presented it was never done with confidence, leaving her wondering (anxious/concerned) if what she was about to eat was in fact, gf. - Not enough chairs with shade around the pool... at less than 50% capacity I needed to go down before 9am to secure a spot with shade or we would have been baking in the sun or left without a lounge chair at all. Reading through the reviews this is already a widely known issue so I'll just leave it at that. - Air conditioning in the room never really got cold. It was cool enough, but not sleep under the blankets cold (even with both ceiling fans on high). - Jets in the balcony tub didn't work. - On a scale of 1-10 the bed/mattress comfort I'd put at a 5. Very hard. - Rooms could use costers... watermarks on all wood surfaces. - I knew this going into it (of course) but wasn't a fan of sharing a room with the bathroom (all one open space separated by a sheet). There are wood tiles on the floor in the middle of the bathroom space that are a breeding ground for bacteria (don't lift them up... you've been warned). This is where we think the bad smell came from, that or the AC unit. We fully understand our experience looks different due to covid. Some things were probably better and some worse than if there weren't the pandemic we traveled during. I can not stress enough how amazing the staff was... all of them treated us so well. The staff is this places saving grace! Lastly, and this has nothing to do with Dreams, but when exiting the airport with transportation pre-booked, DO NOT stop and talk to ANYONE even if they say you need to talk to them to get to your transportation. I have never been sold so hard in my life, not to mention lied too... you've been warned. Overall, it was a very relaxing week and we enjoyed our stay. My review is just what we experienced and although a bit nit-picky, if you're going to spend thousands of dollars on a trip you should be well informed and I hope this helps. Cheers!
Today was my last day of vacation together with my family at the dreams villa magna nuevo vallarta hotel and I want to thank for the excellent service provided by each of the workers of this hotel chain during my stay. The food is delicious in each of its restaurants; Patio (Mexican), Porfirio (Italian), Seaside Grill (cuts), the buffet for breakfast, and Oceania. thanks to a captain Yadira and hostess Paulina, espect and admiration for each and every one of the workers of this hotel chain. I say goodbye with a great taste in my mouth but it is a short farewell because I hope to continue sharing more trips with you. see you soon and total thanks.
Needed get away
Enjoyed the trip needed to get away from all the Covid madness we couldn't have been a cleaner environment with a staff and facility making the best of an already challenging time. Once again we've never had a bad experience at any UVC resorts.
If you get married there, don't pay additional for pictures
Got married here and although we had an amazing time, all of our pictures came out horribly. Our guest pictures were better than that of our photographers who now we know are not actual photographers, just workers taking pictures. We paid additional for the full package and video, and cannot use them. We wasted a lot of money and would not get any assistance from the studio to fix them. None. I now have to use my guest photos to create an album I can actually use to remember my wedding which was beautiful. Don't waste your time or money. Hire an outside photographer or bring your own.
