Good mystery deal!

I have booked with cheap Caribbean several times and this was my first time doing a mystery deal. I was pleasantly surprised after arriving at the resort. I booked the transportation which I regret doing because a cab would have been a lot cheaper. Upon arrival to the airport, we were expecting a van, but were taken in a cab. When leaving the resort, we took a van with others. If taking the transportation, walk outside the airport to find the company. Don’t stop with others inside pretending to be the provided transportation. The resort was nice. Not very crowded. Quiet especially at night. Clean. kids didn’t bother me. Only complaints were that the bathroom was pretty far from the beach and not very convenient . Food area for lunch ( beach/Pool ) wasn’t in a convienent location either compared to other resorts we have visited . My husband complained that the bed was too hard/bouncy. Didn’t have a beach view room, but could still see it from our balcony. I enjoyed the coffee shop and went several times daily to get iced coffee and lemon tarts. Went on the bike tour which was fun. Walked to bucarias from the resort( 1.5 hour) on the beach. Ate at Karen’s place on the beach there. It was good. Also walked around shops. Took a bus back to the resort which was somewhat confusing. One day we took a bus to malecon and a cab back to the resort. It was nice, but enjoyed Bucarias more since it was less crowded. Easy to find a cheap massage on the beach. When leaving the resort from the beach we walked to the left to Masaha day spa. It was a very good massage for $35. Other places towards Bucarias were $20/hr. People trying to sell stuff on the beach, but didn’t pressure us after saying no. No rocks on the beach and waves were fun to use boogie board( provided free) but in a very inconvient place. Towels should be closer to beach too and a place to drop off dirty towel by the beach wouldn’t be nice. We ate at all of the restaurants except the steak place. My favorites were the seafood and Mexican. Restaurants never were crowded. One night we were the only couple while eating!

Beautiful Resort

The property was awesome! Service was exceptional! Room was lacking nothing. There are 3 pools. The adults pretty much used the infinity pool closest to the beach. No swim up bars in any of them. Nor could you bring a cocktail into the pool with you. Water in the infinity pool was extremely cold. Around 2 pm every day the wind would really pick up and going into the pool at that point ,was no longer an option for me. Very quiet resort. Entertainment during the day was very limited. If you want to go on vacation and just "chill", this is the place for you.

Relaxing and Fun

The hotel, the staff and the grounds are beautiful. As others have pointed out this is a quiet relaxing resort. It is a higher end hotel and as such the accommodations and staff reflect that. Every single staff member was incredible. We have a 9 month old baby that came along and we were concerned because some resorts aren’t children friendly. I was pleasantly surprised as all hotel staff were so helpful and nice. From the waiters to the cleaning crew every single person was incredible. The staff went above and beyond at every step of our trip. The food was also very good. I heard some other complain but then then isn’t notice they were eating chicken nuggets and fries. Seemed to me they had a preference and a palate for simple over processed foods. The main buffet area was delicious and the staff was awesome. Every time. Quickly refilled drinks and if we forgot to grab something they would bring right over. The steak restaurant was delicious. So was the sea food restaurant near the grill. Very good food. Very good. We visited the roof top bar and that had an amazing view. The sushi was very good as well. With a baby in tow we didn’t get to have too much fun but the experience was well worth it. Additionally we were able to upgrade our room view and the check in staff was so nice. The coup de grace was our departure. We left my backpack in the taxi when we were dropped off and when I called the hotel to track the taxi down they did it within in minutes. They located the taxi driver and he returned to the airport and dropped my bag off. That alone puts this resort at the top of my list for best customer service. I don’t remember all their names but everyone at this resort was incredible. The only bad thing I would say about the resort are the other guests. Mainly the American middle America travelers. I’ve never encountered such rude guests I travel for vacation three times a year and this is the first instance where I was embarrassed to be associated with other American guests. The hotel has no control over this but the staff did a bang up job of managing, catering to them and showing them the best time they could. I personally wouldn’t have had that control. If you are looking for a high end resort with an amazing beach, great service and a kid friendly resort I would take a very good look at Villamagna. I will be visiting again shortly and will tell all of my family to visit in the future.

Spend your money elsewhere

This was our first time staying at Dreams but our 4th all inclusive Mexico vacation, so we had some insight on what these are like. At first glance (when we arrived) Dreams looked "lavish", we were immediately upgraded and handed glasses of champagne. As the old saying goes, nothing comes freely. During check-in we were encouraged to sit through a two hour long sales meeting the following morning (per our room upgrade) and promised a voucher for any activity- we agreed. It didn't take long for reality to click in, at first glance (from the 7th floor window) the pool area looked clean and fairly desolate. Once we were down on the ground, we A-lined it to the pool bar, where we were immediately struck with the strongest scent of vomit. When the staff members saw our faces, they laughed and said someone had just had too much tequila (the was a daily trend). It being our honeymoon, we knew we had made a mistake not going the adults only route. During the 2 hour long high pressure time share sales meeting, we were asked over and over again if we want "high luxury but for very cheap" and to us, this explained Dreams perfectly. At first glance everything seems high end, but the three restaurants all had very similar cheaply made food. even an avocado was scarce on the resort property. My advice is if you are not 15 and vacationing with your parents while looking to sneak alcohol from a bar then this place is not for you. Also, we booked a "romantic private dinner" with out cash vouchers from sitting through the time share sales pitch for two hours and when we checked out they charged us the $200 for us claiming they never gave us coupons. I will never go back to this place and would not recommend it to a friend. The staff on the grounds and for service were the only nice thing about this place.
