A Wonderful and Relaxing Vacation!

My boyfriend and I booked the Deal of Fortune #2 Junior Suite deal on Cheap Caribbean that included round trip transfers and were pleased to learn one week before traveling that our resort was Dreams Villamagna Nuevo Vallarta. We arrived at Dreams and were greeted with glasses of champagne (which was very nice after a hectic, long day of travel), the check in process was quick, the concierge then offered us some resort coupons and the opportunity to attend a presentation for their vacation club and we would be rewarded with a $50 romantic dinner on the beach (don't waste your time- this was a rip off, more on it later). We decided to do that as we wanted a romantic beachside dinner and booked it through here. The rooms were older and not impeccably clean but spacious and we had a lovely balcony overlooking the Sierra Madres. The WiFi in the room didn't work for half the week but thankfully my boyfriend downloaded some movies on Netflix prior to arriving so we could stream if we wanted to (I recommend doing that), the resort also offers the opportunity to borrow some DVDs, however half of them don't work because they are restricted by country. It was very nice to unplug for the week so we didn't mind not having as much service in the room and it was strong in the other common areas if you want to use your phone. The resort is fairly intimate and shares common areas/the pool with the condominiums next door. Because of that, I think, there are a lot of families and locals that frequent the resort. There were very few young couples like us, and the resort seems tailored more to families than couples or younger people as there are not a lot of activities or anything much to do at the resort that is "nightlife-y." However, we didn't really mind this because my boyfriend and I were looking forward to relaxing and unplugging for the week but it would have been nice to have some live music, dancing or other things to do later in the evening. Perhaps it is different at the other resorts that Dreams owns. Also, half of the time it seemed like the activities got canceled or changed and the online schedule through their app didn't match the printed schedule. This is very much a place to go if you're looking to relax and read your book by the pool or on the beach and enjoy good food. If you want more of a party atmosphere or a resort with a lot of activities this isn't the place for you. The service, I must say along with the food, was the highlight of this resort. Everyone was lovely and incredibly accommodating, anytime I needed something they were quick to provide it with a smile. I recommend bringing cash and tipping often as the minimum wage is .33 cents per hour in Mexico, these people work so hard and provided excellent service, Andres at Oceana was one of our favorite waiters, Gabi at World Cafe was also always welcoming, but everyone was honestly fantastic. Our favorite restaurants were Gohan, El Patio and Portofino for dinner and Oceana for lunch and the adults only brunch, but even the buffet was fantastic. The food was excellent, we didn't get sick and all of the water at the resort is purified which is a nice added bonus especially during this season as it is very hot/humid and is important to stay hydrated. The only thing that was a little "meh" from an F&B perspective was I wish they would have had more snack bar options (nachos, guac and chips, fish tacos by the pool, etc.) when I went to Cancun that was really nice. Also the drinks weren't the best but I guess that was good as I didn't consume too much alcohol ha! Overall, we had a really relaxing and wonderful trip at a fantastic resort. I must however, complain about the vacation club presentation and warn you not to attend this! We paid $50 for a romantic dinner on the beach and were told that in order to get the discount we needed to attend an hour presentation over breakfast but weren't required to sign up for anything. Didn't sound too bad to save $100 right? WRONG. The whole sell took 1.5 to 2 hours and we found out at the very end that this costs $25,000 to sign up for (not joking). Who can afford that, kudos to you but as two young 30 year olds trying to save for a wedding and a home this certainly wasn't anywhere near our budget or checking account balance. After saying no thank you several times, they continued to pressure us to purchase and finally gave up. We thought it was worth being hassled a little for a romantic dinner on the beach. Our evening for dinner comes and of course it is the only night that rained. While I understand the weather cannot be controlled, they did not offer us a refund or even to reschedule the beach dinner to another night of our stay. Just two options, dinner in our room or at one of the resorts free restaurants. As we were already dressed up chose to go to Portofino but were offered nothing special or extra. We basically paid $50 to go to dinner for free. My boyfriend being the sweetie he is didn't say anything but I was pretty aggravated and caution against doing this as we never got our money back or even an apology bottle of wine or credit for a service. Terrible service and is a scam in my opinion. Other than that, I must say our vacation was lovely and we had a great time! I don't think I would necessarily ever go back to this resort because it is more tailored to families I preferred when I went to Live Aqua but I would consider trying Reflect, Breathless or some of the other higher end couples focused resorts that Dreams owns.

One of the weakest resort i've ever been to. The pool wasn't working but service and food was good. AC is good.

Great value and excellent resort!

Dreams Villamagna was a lot of fun! The facility is very well-maintained and the staff is friendly and attentive - they work very hard to create an amazing experience. We weren't there with kids but Dreams seemed to have a lot of activities that the staff ran to keep them occupied - was a nice adult vacation for us, plenty of room in pools and on beach. Downsides (nitpicky): Could use towel racks in the room, wish shows were a little later (though understand it's for families), drinks seemed *slightly* watery though if you ordered at the bar, could get it made to your liking (actually a positive for us). Would def. recommend!

Family Vaca with a teenage

The resort itself is small, clean, quiet and staff was very friendly. However, the resort shares the property with condos so it seems much bigger than what it is. The food was good for an all inclusive, they only have a couple of restaurants to choose from but wait was never an issue. Alberto Alvera @ the pool was wonderful and never let us have an empty glass and Pamela @ the coffee shop made a mean cup of coffee! Pros- small resort, restaurants didn't need reservations, no wristbands, resort and room very clean, room was comfortable, room service was included for no extra charge. Very quiet! CONS- property is shared with condos, need more resturant options, need more privacy in room ( only thing separating the room from the bathroom area is a curtain.. my teenage daughter had a rough time with that), they really didn't have activities like other all inclusive, very small beach, focused more on the pools. Over all we had a wonderful, relaxing vacation that was very much needed!
