Overrated

Not a 5 star hotel. Pool was in desperate need of an overhaul. There was no air conditioning in restaurants or main lobby. Oppressively hot. I had read multiple reviews regarding lack of a.c. Dating prior to2017. I’m astonished management has never addressed this issue. Almost ever conversation amongst guests mentioned there disappointment Service in restaurants was incredibly slow. I’ve stayed at many 4 and 4.5 star all inclusive hotels in riviera maya. They all out performed this alleged 5 star hotel. Maid service was excellent. Room condition was good. Surprisingly a.c. Was good in room Staff at kayaks was excellent

Good vacation

This was a nice place to stay, the service was wonderful and the room was very nice. Just had to call maintenance to unplug the bathroom sink. The habatch was the best place to eat, and the rest was just fair. Really enjoyed breakfast though.... All the the staff was so very helpful and very friendly..... And the shows they had were just amazing... Me and my girlfriends really hated that they did not have water volleyball, and because it was the one thing we were looking forward to we were very disappointed!! What is sad they have the poles at each side of the pool like they use to have it. So just for that we probably want go back.... it might seem silly but we all really love water volleyball.... In all it was a very nice resort...

An Honest Review

I booked this vacation as a "Deal of Fortune" because the value was decent for the amount of days stayed. I did my research on the hotels apart of the deal of fortune and I was pretty satisfied of the selection. I did my research on this hotel before arriving and it seemed okay. Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I did not enjoy this resort at all. The crowd was much older and the vibe at the resort was practically dead. It was legit crickets after 11PM... My boyfriend and I are 25/24y.o, so there is little to no entertainment or nightlife on this property. The resort itself looks very outdated... we came to find out that it was one of the first Secret resorts and smallest they have. Upon arrival, we were approached by the staff to see if we wanted to take a tour of Breathless and to see a presentation for a voucher. We agreed because we stayed at Breathless in Jamaica and loved our stay. We walked into Breathless and were amazed at the difference and how much lively this resort was!! We actually loved this resort so much that we ended up buying two-nights at breathless at pretty high price because we seriously did not like Secrets Capri. (BTW, Taxis around this area are expensive) Anyway, the vibe at Breathless Riviera was EXACTLY what we wanted, so much entertainment, parties, drinks were not watered down, food was WAY better, the workers were definitely more friendlier and happier than those in Secrets Capri and they had so much to do on the resort itself; more restaurants, bars, pool and a CLEANER beach. We knew about the seaweed in the area and Secret Capri beach was not as nice looking, or should I say well kept as Breathless was; they had nice sand and water was clear. Moreover, we did a "Picnic on the beach" at Secrets Capri and when asked about it, not one person knew what I was talking about, which made it a bit frustrated because it was on the website so after hours of waiting for a response... they told me a complete different price (very high). so I ended up booking it through the website. The day comes and this was nowhere what the image on the website showed... The picnic had some cheap rainbow sheet and the dinner was placed so close to someone else's room that we heard their whole conversation, basically we had no privacy at all. I was very disappointed in our dinner, picnic and the location of the dinner. We were feet away from the beach and could not see the sunset because a fences were blocking the view. I am very disappointed in this resort and was not worth my money at all! Even the workers looked miserable working there. I would not recommend this resort unless you like the dullness and being bored. Food was so terrible I ended up getting food poisoning at the end of my trip...

DON"T BOOK

Let's just say do your research. It all started when we booked our trip to two different resorts, included private shuttle and booked our wedding at one of the resorts. We arrive at the airport in Mexico and we have no shuttle. We wait and we finally get a ride. We arrive at the first resort which was a family resort, Dreams Puerto Aventura's. We go to check-in and they do not have my fiance on the registration anywhere. Funny thing is to the right of where we were checking in was a photo of us that said, "Welcome and congratulations". After some time y fiance left to get a drink and have me deal with it. I finally get that corrected and then I find out he puts my fiance (now husband) in a room with our son who is 18 in a room with one king-size bed and my daughter who is 16 and I in a room with one king-size bed. I looked at them and asked if they saw a problem with that. Of course, they did not and nothing they could do. We were like, well we will just switch rooms, but the bed situation was not going to work for our kids since one was a boy and one was a girl. They again couldn't do anything so we moved on to just get into our rooms. Our son ended up sleeping on the old small fold-out couch. Then they give us our room numbers. Ours was on the 6th floor and our children were on the 1st floor. We said this is NOT how we booked our rooms. Oh, we have no rooms and went on. I found out we had family staying next to them so we left it. My father goes to his room after checking in and your eyes water, nose burns from the smoke. We go to the front desk and they sent up made service, they sprayed and said come a couple of hours later. We did and no difference. We did this three times. Finally, at 10 o'clock at night, I told my dad to grab his bags and he is not staying in that room. Went to the from the desk and at first, they said they had no rooms available. I said, he is not staying there so you find a room. They finally put hi8m in a corner room on the 4th floor. Nest morning I see my father at breakfast and then no one saw him throughout the day. We became worried so I looked for him and did not find him anywhere. Went to the front desk and of course, they couldn't give me his new room number, but they called his room and no answer. Later I asked again and no one would even escort me to his room to check on him. By this time I am in tears and see my father out of the corner of my eyes. He was in tears and I asked what was wrong. The room they moved him to had a broken lock on his slider door to the patio. After breakfast, he went back to his room and sat on the patio. When he shut the slider door, the latch closed and locked on him, locking my father out of his room. He was locked out for more than 4 hours. He managed to push on the glass and detach it from the door to get it open. He was in the cornerback so no one could see him. My sister-in-law's room had so much mold on the bathroom mirror she couldn't even use it to get ready - every day. Yes, she did say something. The adult pool was always stagnant water, hair floating, you can see the oils just floating and it stunk bad. This had all the adults going to the kid's pool since they did manage to keep the kid's pool clean. That being said, you had drunk adults in the kid's pool area. We ordered a chocolate cake for our wedding and got vanilla. My father-in-law who stayed on the 1st floor (5 floors below us), was receiving all of our wedding perks. He received our bottle of champaign, our plaque that had, "bride and groom" with chocolate-covered strawberries, among other things. The seaweed is really bad and I do not blame them for that. The part that was a turn off for us, was at all the other resorts you see (you can walk the beach line), they always had workers out there cleaning it up as much as they could. This resort did not, which caused it to smell all the time and you did not want to swim in the ocean there. We did walk to the public beach from there which was beautiful. Then we go to check in with our shuttle the day before our last day. We had the family go to Ocean's to get a table for dinner (which we had to split up because we had 13 family members there), and I was going to deal with the shuttle. I verified that when we booked the shuttle was going to bring my husband and I to their other resort, "Secrets Capri" and the kids to the airport. The first thing they said is no. I asked why? We only go from resort to airport. I said that is not what we were told when we booked this vacation. We weren't getting anywhere with them so I got a manager. The manager wanted to know names who booked my reservation, who, when, what, not fixing the problem even though I had my confirmation there with me to show her. After over an hour, she finally got my husband and I a ride to their other resort and the kids took the shuttle to the airport. I go to meet my family for dinner and we were asked twice to leave because they were waiting there for me. I said go talk to your manager as I was with her. Yes, there were empty tables. There was no offer or anything for the inconvenience we had stating at their resorts. Yes, not one, but two. We stayed for a total of 10 days, spent over $15,000, had 13 other family member book there and nothing. I didn't even get an apology. We will NEVER go back. I sent and provided my review and no one has contacted me yet.
