Very nice relaxing vacation
Overall an excellent and relaxing experience. We had the Preferred Club and the room had a wonderful view. We had breakfast on our 22nd floor balcony each day we were there. The Preferred Club lounge had some nice little appetizers and step up liquor. The massages at the spa were so good we went back for a second one and 2 hydrotherapy sessions as well. The Lobster Experience was very nice with your own chef and table in a separate room. We rented a cabana one day for $90 and I would say it was worth it as there was a dedicated server and pool butler. The beach was nice but the water was rough so not many people went in and nobody went much past their wastes. I will say security was somewhat of a concern as the only one I saw was on the beach and he was just asking for guests room numbers when they went on the beach. This was especially concerning because while we were there, somebody was shot & killed on the beach at a Rio about 15 minutes away. Pools were nice. Entertainment at night seemed minimal which was fine for me. This is not a party resort and I didn't want it to be. Overall the staff and service was very good but I want to shout out a couple of people who provided excellent, above and beyond the call of duty service. Alejandro and Angel were both outstanding. Professional, helpful, courteous and both just gave off the best possible vibes. Also, Javier in the Blue Water Grill deserves recognition. I would strongly recommend that people that provide top notch service be recognized by both the hotel management and guests, who should tip to show their appreciation. The negatives were that the lobby was very warm as mentioned in many reviews, our butler could have been better, there was a smell in the lobby

Horrible
Read all bad reviews as they are all accurate! There are so many better places. This place is unsafe, poorly maintained, and operated with short term profit in mind. Think of the credit offered for there preferred guest package. This is only offered at the beginning of your stay. Why? Because after three days you would never buy anything from them and wish you were somewhere else! These resorts need to stop the insanity of their operations and get back to customer service! Only us consumers can force the change!

Great but needs some changes
A nice place but we wouldn't say it was 5 star quality. You get a nice room if it was classed 4star but have to upgrade to preffered rooms, for several hundred pounds more, to get a five star feel. Several food restaurants onsite , breakfast was always good. Others were good, but for us, not fantastic. The Bluewater grill was probably the best. All the staff were fantastic . Onsite shop/pharmacy with over priced products. Enjoyed the pool entertainment team, they done a great job getting people to get up and join In games and fun. We did enjoy ourselves here but have been spoilt by other places in the past. The staff were very professional throughout hurricane Helene, making us feel safe and well. Needs air con in the main lobby and lounges, far too hot in there. Rooms were lovely and cool

Hats off to chef Isidro and waiter Miguel for an amazing dinner.
My wife and I went on vacation this August. We had the most amazing and personal experience we’ve ever had on vacation. We booked a private dinner with Chef Isidro and our waiter was Miguel. I will never forget this trip. Highly recommend going if you get a chance. Secrets Resorts have always been our favorite all inclusive vacation resorts.

Outstanding- booking again within 4 days of getting home!
This hotel is a credit to Mexican hospitality! For twelve days our every request was met with a smile, from the gate guard, concierges, bar staff and restaurant staff. Our room was “partial lagoon view” but in reality we had a panoramic view from lagoon to the beach. Yes Tropical Storm Helene blew in and the hotel locked down for 24hrs, with a few hours of alcohol restriction but just added to the experience! Things to try, wine tasting especially 1-2-1 with Fabiola and her deputy and Chefs Table ! Minor irritations a waiter in Dragon not offering dessert menu(not just to us), a chef who only want to cook steak his way and a person pushing us to upgrade! Not bad given the number of people you meet in a day! My worry is now it is Hyatt, the corporate need to impose American uniformity will degrade this amazing hotel to yet another place that is the same from Bangkok to Sydney so Americans don’t feel they’ve left the States. If they do then a outstanding example of Mexican hospitality will be lost!
