  Amazing Trip #3

  This was our 3rd trip back to this beautiful & quaint little resort. This time we brought our great traveling buddies Ken & Tarina. We keep returning because of the wonderful Staff that always makes our trips so memorable ❤️ We were first greeted in the UVC Preferred Club with big hugs by Mariam Morales our UVC Representative, Randy Kinderson our #1 bartender, Ligia Ulloa, Restaurant Supervisor & Manager and Raquel Vargas , Manager of the Portofino Restaurant . They made our stay so memorable! We started off the next morning at the Sea Side Grill for breakfast for Preferred Members. It was amazing … we were greeted with a beautiful smile from Christian, Yesner & Alba. Christian & Yesner remembered us from the previous year( which was amazing ❤️). We placed our order with Christian ( never wrote anything down) and he never missed a beat!! Even with the changes we made our breakfast was fantastic as we continued to return 3 or 4 times during the week. We spent the day by the pool and were waited on by our favorite Bartenders, our #1 server Randy, and Victor (behind the bar) Victor & Joseph. Our other poolside servers were Jose, Donald & Steven. Love them all❤️❤️ We had a beautiful dinner prepared for us by the chef at Himitsu (sorry we didn’t get his name🥹, our Server was Anthony who was one of our servers the year before. He set up a beautiful a beautiful table, and an amazing 5 course meal that was out of this world . Again it was a dinner that was off the menu… and it was yummy. We closed our evening with night caps in the Preferred Cub Bar by Joshua & Arturo. Joshua had us in stitches every night that when we had our nightcaps. The 3rd day was spent on one of our excursions with a fishing excursion with Frank-the-Tank… we spent the day fishing, snorkeling and visiting some beautiful water caves with our Captain & deck hand Julio! They were amazing and we all caught fish. Raquel Vargas Portofino Manager set up an AMAZING dinner in the “ La Cava Wine Room”. Another amazing dinner prepared by Chef Michael and served by Armando. Bismarc the Sommelier provided us with the perfect wine to complement the wonderful dinner that included a light appetizer , Caesar Salad, Lobster Bisque with chunks of lobster, main course was filet mignon, seared prawns, salmon and roasted veggies and a variety of desserts!! MAGNIFICENT ❤️❤️ Another day spent at the pool ending with a beautiful Fire & Water show at the main pool and dinner was Steak & Lobster with all the trimmings which was served by a wonderful young man by the name of Alex. He was amazing and served with a beautiful smile😁. Bismarc the sommelier provided us with a perfect wine to go with dinner. Next day was another excursion booked with Frank-the-Tank which was a 3 hour ATV tour that was amazing. Rode thru the rivers , little towns and down country roads that were beautiful . Our guide Johnny was fantastic and got great pictures of us❤️ Another pool day and an another special dinner set up by Ligia arranged another dinner for the 4 us at the Gazebo , served by Driscoll and wine again provided by Bismarc the AMAZING sommelier. We had soup , salad, steak & shrimp and dessert. Ligia set up another dinner the following night for Steven & I on the beautiful lawns of The Aqua restaurant . It was served by Maria & Howard. We had a grilled chicken that was amazing with all the fixings and another fantastic dessert and bottle of wine. Closing up the week we had the most amazing dinner that was put together by Ligia , Yesner and Chef Jorge Palma from the Sea Side restaurant. Our minds were blown away and you can tell this was planned with LOVE by Yesner❤️❤️. It was nothing off the menu…. It was all Costa Rican Cuisine. It was served with love and every dish was explained to us by Yesner❤️❤️. Again Bismarc got with Yesner and provided a wonderful white wine that was AMAZING. At the end of the dinner Yesner provided Tarina & myself with beautiful gifts from his wife that brought tears to our eyes. After dinner Ligia got a lot of the beautiful staff together that we interacted with so we could take pictures with ❤️❤️ I want thank the staff at the Reef Club for working so hard on getting the Texas Longhorn/ Oklahoma University game on the BIG SCREEN TV and provided us with many Mini Beer Shots for every TD that TEXAS made . Thank you Johnny, Carlos and our beautiful server Thannya for the great drinks!! And last but not least…our adopted daughter Merari Molina, Activities Directer and one of her assistants Yesani❤️❤️. Always had a beautiful smile & big hugs for us every day!!! We love youMerari. And this is why we return to this BEAUTIFUL,QUAINT and loving resort that makes you feel like family!!! Steven & I love all of you💕💕💕 family

  Beautiful Views, But Not for Me

  We visited Secrets Papagayo Costa Rica to meet up with friends on a company award trip, and unfortunately, the experience was just okay. The food was good, and the spa was nice, but the overall vibe of the resort felt overly cheesy. The resort pushes "love" and "romance" to an uncomfortable degree, which made it feel less relaxing and more forced. To make matters worse, the resort offered the Playboy channel for free on the TV—an unnecessary and gross addition that felt entirely out of place. The views of the bay were undeniably gorgeous and probably the highlight of the trip. However, the rest of the experience left much to be desired. I won’t be returning.

  They made us feel like celebrities and very special.

  The service was beyond 5 star. Andrea and Alex were exceptional. Christiano at seaside grill couldn’t do more for you top notch and all the bartenders and drivers were friendly beyond belief they knew my room number before I could say anything . For top notch dining Armando at portofino was the guy with Jason.

  Secrets, improvements

  The hotel needs a refit, everything is tired, I came in 2017 and it was amazing!!! Now I would say they have made No investment. The staff are brilliant but the lack of sun beds in a so called 5 star hotel is totally mad, and after talking to a concierge,privileged manager he was so negative to my suggestions to improve the situation, I would never go back this hotel 👎

  Amazing people at Secrets

  My wife and I came to secrets for our Anniversary we have never been here before .We were greeted by some absolutely amazing people. David ,Andrea and Eduardo took us under there wings immediately to make sure our trip was once in a lifetime experience. They were absolutely amazing above and beyond service. Not only have we had an experience of a lifetime , We will return with friends because of the incredible service by these folks and everyone here . They made us feel like family every day , I am a business owner in the US and I would hire them in my company immediately if they would come. We are Grateful for them and the intire Secrets team .
