Secrets Royal Beach
We thought Secrets was a wonderful place. The beach was close and the pool was huge. Staff are all friendly and willing to help. The place was very clean. We enjoyed the entertainment. Nothing bad to say about it. I would definetly recommend it.

Bartender
Best beach bar service around. Everyone is so friendly. Silent disco will be an all time favorite for us. We were so blessed to be on vacation when these two gentlemen were working. Merlin at the pool bar was also excellent but over worked. Definitely needed an assistant some days.

Beautiful destination, but a few mishaps
Beautiful resort and beautiful beach. My husband and I were impressed with the cleanliness and beauty of the hotel. The ocean is clean and turquoise blue (stunning!). However, there were a few downers to our trip. (1) They swear the bottled water is completely safe, however, the first night I chugged a bottle of water and 30 min later was very ill. I’m not sure if there is a mineral us Americans are not used to they use when purifying the water, or if the pipes they use to purify the water still contain remnants of the tap water. Anyways my husband and I’s stomach was weird all week and a lot of other people were saying the same thing. (2) The solicitors on the beach are lowkey out of control. They come up to you while you are sitting under your hut and then sit down next to you uninvited and start trying to sell you stuff even when you say “no thank you”. It’s super awkward and they can smell anyone that’s too polite to interrupt them from a mile away. And there’s a lot of them- it kinda lessened the relaxing aspect of the beach. (3) none of the restaurants are open until dinner so you have to either order room service or eat at the buffet for breakfast and lunch. I’m not a picky eater at all and I could only find 2-3 things that I liked from the buffet. The food is better in Mexico. (4) we went on a reef explorer excursion to snorkel and it was beautifulllll! However, they don’t offer you lunch or drinks on the excursion and for the price, that seemed kind of like a rip off. I thought Mexico had a better excursion experience. (5) we had some really rude experiences with some of the staff. I get it, I’m sure they have a stereotype about Americans and I’m positive so many people treat them poorly there. I tried to be extra polite to every staff member because of that, but I still had moments that I felt they were really unkind to my husband and I without reason. (6) this one is a big one. We booked our trip with Apple vacations and Amstar was the one that did all of our transportation from airport to resort and vice versa. When it came time to go from the resort to the airport to fly back home, the Amstar bus was 20 min late picking us up (it’s about a 40 min drive to airport so those 20 min late were making us nervous). They loaded all of us going back home onto the bus and at first the bus started driving in the direction of the airport. But then, without apparent reason, the bus turned around and started driving for 30 minutes in the opposite direction in some sketchy neighborhood. Everyone on the bus was starting to panic because we thought something sketchy was going on. The bus driver wouldn’t speak to us and tell us what was happening so we all thought the worst. Eventually he turned back around and took us to the airport (I don’t know what happened), but we only had 45 minutes until our flight. Everyone was really worried we were going to miss our flight.

Secrets Royal beach, PUNTA CANA
The resort was really nice, it was easy to get around and not get lost. Our room was really nice, even though we did not get room cleaning everyday, it was cleaned well when it happened. They did turn our bed sheets down only one time though, but like I said we only got a room cleaned three times. The pool was great. Although my biggest complaint about it was people were bringing towels to claim their chairs at 7:00 in the morning. It was written somewhere that they were not allowed to do that, but nobody seemed like they ever took the towels off. So by the time we got there at 10 or 11 it was really hard to find an umbrella, although we usually got chairs beside of each other, even if we had to move them around a little bit. The restaurants were pretty good and the buffet was good as well. The staff was AMAZING! Everyone was very courteous and kind and attentive. Our two favorite servers were Junior in the Riviera restaurant buffet and Angel at the pool bar pool. These men were EXCELLENT. I wasn't really a fan of the beach because the chairs were too far back, and also not even available most of the time. It was a little buggy down there at times but that's to be expected. I also did not like the fact that I had to be rude to the vendors that were there because they didn't take no for an answer.

Super vacation at SRB
This was our 3rd trip to SRB and we were very pleased with the resort and the staff. A special shout out to our wonderful butler, Super Brian, Charina at Olio's, and Bolon, the best bartender at Drifters. We also would like to thank Felix, who was our butler last year and made a point of stopping in to see us daily. Thanks also to Jokeyma, our UVC representative. We look forward to returning to SRB again.
