So-So

While the layout of the hotel is pretty to look at, it's completely dysfunctional. You can't walk directly to anything. I.e. to get to the beach from the front desk, you have to walk down a small set of stairs, around the bar, up another small set of stairs, around the pool (that you're not allowed in unless you pay to upgrade), then down another set of stairs. By the way, if you've made it to the beach and you're looking for a towel, up a set of stairs, back around the forbidden pool, across the courtyard, down another set stairs, near the kiddy pool, approximately 300 ft. from the nearest spot in the sand. Don't get me started on navigating the maze to the restaurants. The room was clean, functional, but very noisy, be prepared for cold showers during high use periods of the day. If you're going to enjoy a room on the higher level floors, be prepared for a long wait at the unreliable elevators. During our stay, one of the two elevators was inoperable, 3 of our 5 days, seemingly a menial complaint, but imagine staying on the 12th of 14 total stories with only one functional elevator. Upon arrival, enter the first money grab for their upgrade package or timeshare, before you've even seen the room you've already paid for. Don't bother speaking with the representatives about the "Altitude Tower upgrade". you'll later learn that after you upgrade, there is yet another level, and more services you're to be denied unless you upgrade further. Stay away from their mixed drinks, very little alcohol, far too much sugar sour mix in the margaritas, stick with beer and straight up liquor if you'd like anything to drink. The restaurants on the premise are decent, although, not all are on the hotel campus, if you'd like some all inclusive Mexican food while you're in Mexico, enjoy a half mile walk or cab ride to their included Mexican cuisine. By the way, not all of the menu is included, while they have a standard menu, albeit meager in choices, each restaurant has a menu and drinks you will need to pay more money to enjoy. The liquor selection is thin, and far from top or even medium shelf. Add again, more money for the good stuff. The beach was wonderful, very clean, well maintained and groomed, beautiful water and friendly wait staff, even a small food menu to enjoy on the beach. In summary, this was an enjoyable vacation in Cancun, but I wouldn't recommend this particular hotel or chain for merely value alone. Calling it all inclusive was a bit of a farce. All inclusive, sure, but they'll tease and bait you for more money at every step.

Pleasantly and repeatedly surprised

Have travelled to beach resorts extensively, and this exceeded all expectations. This experience is about value and ease, but not at the expense of quality. First, there is no sales pressure for anything....not on the resort and not on the beach. The service was superior. The staff works hard and personalizes the service if you make an effort to acknowledge them. The food was really good for being part of an all inclusive package with both variety and quality. All premises and facilities were well equipped and maintained. Would totally recommend!

BEAUTIFUL HOTEL, POOR DINNING AND ENTERTAINMENT

We went to Reflect resort on the first week of December and were in the Altitude Tower. The suite was gorgeous with the balcony facing the beach and walk-in shower. We also got some free perks, not sure if due to being Altitude tower guests. Free one day beach/pool bed was very nice as well. The service all over the resort was exceptional and made our experience even better. In not sure why many people comment here that the pool is cold, it was normal to me, warmer on hotter days and cooler on others. Here is what I was very disappointed with. The Entertainment. Non-existent or very weak. Starting with day activities they advertise, like Zumba, dance lessons etc to night entertainment, and when I say that I mean placed to go and dance, drink and have fun. I saw they had a beach club but it was closed during out stay. Going out outside of resort will cost you somewhere between $40-70 per person as an all inclusive admission that they are trying to push. Dinning. Food selection is very poor and didn't taste good at all. Mostly meats, very poor seafood selection. The restaurants weren't that great either. Bottom line I think if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing time, this is the place for you. Its beautiful and Altitude tower is worth it.

Would not Recommend

First, I have to say this is my first trip I booked through CheapCaribbean. I give them 5+ stars for their customer service! Jose Z. helped us book our trip, answered all of our questions and was in contact for multiple days while we were looking to plan this trip. If you don't feel like reading a lengthy review then I will get to the bottom line now: If you are looking for a bargain and to escape to the beach/sun for a few days and customer service and quality of food do not matter to you then this is the trip for you. I would also recommend if you have children and are not looking to spend too much $$. I would NOT recommend this if you are looking for something nice, a romantic getaway or are celebrating a Honeymoon, etc... When we arrived at the airport, there was a shuttle waiting to take us to the hotel which was great. However, a woman bombarded us (and was quite frankly very annoying) asking us if we wanted to have breakfast at another one of the partner resorts. She was explaining we would get this for free, and that for free... after the end of her 20min pitch that we were not able to escape, she said we needed to pay her $20 cash in order to receive all these free benefits and when we got back to the hotel they would reimburse us. We were not happy with this as it seemed like a big hoax, and to be honest I'm not sure if it was or not. Regardless, we denied, and boy did her attitude change, she went from friendly and bubbly to annoyed and rude. (turns out she did work for the resort) After a 30min van ride from the airport, we arrived at the resort. I give the resort an overall 4 stars for its appearance, cleanliness and amenities. After we checked in, they had an employee show us around the facility which I thought was great! However, after the 15min tour, they made us sit at a desk with them for another 15min and tried to convince us to purchase additional amenities and services. Being that our flight was delayed and we hadn't eaten for 6+ hours, we were very bothered by this. No matter how many times we declined the offers and asked if we could just go to our room, we were told "Wait, one more thing- we are required to tell you this" But it was all just a sales pitch. We finally made it to our room and it was another 45min until our luggage arrived- which they did not let us take up ourselves for some reason? When we were finally settled in, we made our way to one of the restaurants. What was on the menu? Ceviche (4 different types that were all pretty good), hamburgers, hotdogs and chicken nuggets. This seemed to be the trend here- even at the beach bar they served roughly 6 different types of hamburgers, chicken nuggets and guacamole. There were others places to eat (only dinner- as the places mentioned above were the only places to have lunch, aside for the buffet which was mediocre at best for breakfast and lunch) however, all of the dining facilities were sub-par. The one place that we did like was the Mexican restaurant that was located off of the property and was included in the "all inclusive" IF you had a reservation which was nearly impossible for us to get- which didn't seem right as each time we had a reservation the places were barely even half full. Additionally, I would have rated the facility higher, however on the 3rd night there our door stopped responding to the room key (we were on the 10th floor, which was an entirely other issue) after going to the front desk several times with several different keys they continuously made, they finally sent maintenance to the room. They spent ~45min jiggling the batteries in the door sensor. We we so frustrated we went downstairs to sit. About an hour later they told us to change rooms because they could not fix the door, so away we went packing all of our belongings to move. And not to mention, maid service never came that day likely because they were not able to get in the room, but never told anyone. The final complaint about this facility is the fact that the building is over 12 floors and there are only 2 elevators and 1 stairway. Each morning and night it was nearly impossible to go on the elevator without waiting in line for 20min+. The resort did not seem to be nearly close to full capacity, and I would hate to see what it would be like had more guests been there. Overall, I would not recommend this resort to a friend. However, like i mentioned previously, if you are looking for an inexpensive beach destination to spend some time in the sun or for a family trip that is not pricy and have kids who love hot dogs and hamburgers, then this may be for you.
