Loved every minute
We went here last year and I forgot to review. Loved everything about this place.
Smaller resort, which is what we wanted. Nice small beach, the service was always on point. We always felt safe and never pressured. Its the first vacation where I wasn't ready to go back to my kids.
My biggest regret is not coming sooner. It was romantic, fun, and a variety of 20 somethings to retired couples. Very cute and would go back and very much recommend.
Celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary at secrets Capri. This was a wonderful experience! They greet you at the door with a cool towel and champagne, so needed after a long day of travel! It only got better from there. Our room was exactly as we expected, clean and comfortable and very spacious with a garden view that also caught a view of the ocean at sunrise. My only wish is that excursions were not quite so expensive. A few more options for dinning at the resort would also be nice. Overall, so pleased and would stay again!!!
We went for spring break. Easter Sunday was wonderful at the resort. The entertainment crew was fun. We had a Easter egg hunt and an Egg painting contest. The food was wonderful and ALL the staff there was friendly and hard working. We enjoyed every minutes and planning a return trip.

Yes you can swim and the beach was great
FRoscoe
The Beach is great! Nice clean sand and the water is clear enough to see your feet.
Golden1
The beach is all sand and you can absolutely go swimming. The water is a bit murky close in, and there is some seaweed, but that didn't bother me. Plenty of beach chairs available too.
CinATL
Dave,
The beach is beautiful, all sand. It is rather narrow, but very pretty and swimming can be done. You will love it and I highly recommend this property. Enjoy!!
chippiedog
You can definitely go swimming at the beach. We did almost everyday. It is soft white sand until approx. 75 - 100 feet from shore, then it turns to clay. It isn't rocky at all though.
husker78
All sand and yes it's great for swimming.
LoPac
the beach is so beautiful!! yes its all sand and yes i def suggest you go swimming the water is also so amazing!!
kristenconde
Yes, the beach is the best! It is all sand and well maintained daily.
Addi
The beach is all sand and you can swim from it.
wrigley123
The beach is all sand, but does get some seaweed which is raked at least twice a day. We swam in the Ocean almost daily, but you do hit some muck or clay spots. It's probably not the greatest beach in the world in terms of sand, but apparently being close to the reef has a role in that.
Chena
Beach is great and swimming good.

Secrets Capri Internet Situation?11 answers
Noticed that the Capri has a $ sign next to Internet Access. Can someone explain what the situation is? Thanks.

Prices for internet usage is always subject to change according to each resort so we are unable to advise a specific amount.
MariaCC
Internet was provided at no cost in the room and in the lounge and lobby.
makemiday515
I know they had wireless service in the lobby area but not sure if you had to pay for that use. There also was a room with 3 computers that had internet access. You could use them 24 hours a day but they asked that you use for approximately 15 minutes to give other guests the opportunity to use and there was not a charge for using them.
Shannonlew
It is Free in the whole resort, I had access in my room with a plug, wi-fi was everwere in the main lobby area. They had a room with 3 computers and a printer for guests to use is you leave your labtop at home.
ClubEd
There is a separate room on the main lobby floor, which has several computers in it. All internet access was free of charge in that room, don't know about the rest of the hotel.

the Wi Fi was availble in the loby area and sometimes in the large breakfast area. We had Verison and were able to pick it up in those areas......

Internet service was free in every guest room at Secrets Capri. They also had a Business Center. Very convenient!!

It was free wi-fi in the room you just needed to bring a cable to plug your computer in. The business center was also free but the computers were not that good and always seemed to have users when we walked by.

What brands of scotch whiskey are in the bars7 answers

Secrets does offer domestic and premium brand spirits, however, the actual brands can vary. If you would like to know specific brands, you would be best to contact the resort directly as they would be best able to advise you.
KristinCC
Not sure about scotch but they had top shelf vocka and gin.

The had single malts and blended scotch whiskey.... Single malt was a little harder to find sometimes.........

Jack Daniel's
Chivas Regal
MRodz71
I don't drink either but I did see Jack Daniels & Crown Royal on all bar shelves at Secrets Capri. Those are the most familiar to me so I didnt notice if they had others.
Gr8jewels4u
JB,Johnny Walker red/black
azdubbs
There are multiple types of scotch from J&B to Johnny Walker Black and even a few other specialties like single malts if you ask. The different bars have some different choices. The lobby bar is a little more refined and has a few nice liquors that some of the others don't, but they all have a good selection, even the pool bar. Here is a photo of the pool bar setup one day:

There is no beach, no sand, and seaweed everwhere
lovebug6710
We were just there last week (5/5 - 5/12/2013) and the beach was beautiful. They have added sand retention devices (large buried sand bags) and pumped a LOT of soft white sugary sand starting from the shoreline all the way up to the retaining wall along the entire beach front. Everywhere you go from the minute you set foot on the beach is nice. There was a lady that came by at least once a day with a rake and a wheelbarrow and removed the little bit of seaweed that washed up along the edge of the shoreline, and there was another guy that came out a couple times a day to clean up any loose trash like water bottles and stuff and keep things straightened up. They have lots of furniture out there that you can arrange however you like - full lie down sun lounge chairs and more of a regular sit-up style reclining lounge chair as well as tables with drink holders. They have quite a few of the big grass "tiki hut" style umbrellas that you can park your chairs underneath if you want to enjoy the beach without sitting directly in the sun. It was great! We spent a couple of afternoons doing nothing but grabbing some towels and sitting under one of the umbrellas with a couple of the sit-up style lounge chairs and having our feet in the sand while the excellent waiters brought us beers, pina coladas, water, food - whatever you want to eat or drink - about every 20 minutes. They have a large designated swimming area in the ocean that is roped off to keep the boats/waverunners out, and the sand out there is also nice. As we heard if there is a really bad storm that hits, and that is pretty rare during most of the year (maybe just late in the summer/early fall during hurricane season?), they can't do much to prevent some erosion, but they have invested in their own sand repair pumping equipment and usually try to have it back in shape within a couple of days. All I know is that it couldn't have been nicer when we were there.
Bigblockiroc454
There's practically no beach to speak of. And the beach that exists is riddled with tree stumps -- we were extremely disappointed.

The beach did suffer some damage due to the hurricanes which hit the area last year. The resort has reported that they are continuing the clean up but that it is usable now. The beach is not as wide as it was pre-hurricane season, however , it is expected that the natural ebbb and flow of the currents, will replace the lost beach over time. Guests are permitted on the beach and lounge chairs are provided.

they were fine last summer but during our recent stay another couple told us they were a mess and unusable

Any tips on what to pack or not to pack?5 answers
What are items that may or may not be needed for a trip?
6 years, 75 months ago
Chicago
Of course everyone is different and that would depend on your individual needs. The resorts will usually supply beach towels, though there may be a nominal charge or deposit. You should make sure and check to see if there are any special dress codes for the ala carte restaurants as some require long pants and close toed shoes for the men. You may want to bring sunscreen, though keep in mind the airline restrictions on transporting liquids.
ccsusan1
Bring your own hair dryer. They have the tiny, cheap ones that dry out your hair.
Monkey23
bring mosquito repellant if you leave and do an excursion. long pants and collared shirt for men for some restaurants. other than that you get it all.
onebadapple
No need to overpack. Honestly during the day, it's swimsuits and coverups, at night mostly it's sundresses and khakis with polos or button downs for the guys. You don't need nearly as much as you'd think!
LittleSpoon
All you need is like 4 swimming suites, and cover ups and 1 - 2 nice outfits, flip flops, 1 pair of nice sandals to go with your 2 outfits, and one pair of shorts and a t-shirt. LIterally, even your toothbrush is covered.

lady,
i was just there in may. beach is not that nice. its small, and not crowded which is a definite plus. the drink service is also top notch. you can hardly finish your drink before someone come by to replace it which more than makes up for the small beach area. there are lounge chairs and grass umbrellas set up. the beach area is raked and pruned regularly, but the ocean floor sand is kind of muddy and squishy in area. my only complaint.

Nightly entertainment at Secrets includes evening shows, live performances and rock n’ roll beach parties. During the day they offer a wide variety of beach, land, and water activities throughout each day, including kayaks, snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing, water aerobics, fitness, jogging, billiards, beach volleyball, tennis, and more.

if you stay at the resort there is not much to do at night other than the desires lounge/club which features comedy/entertainment acts, and usually dj or live band music. club closes at 1am.

At the resort itself. Every evening the Entertainment staff has something planned. You get a daily itinerary. There are 2 pool tables and darts at one of the bars. They have dancing and karioke. One of the staff told us they take people out to bars and party with them.

Nothing. They have one lounge that plays oldies music. There are pool tables and things like that but it gets old. It's the only thing open after 6pm besides the hotel lobby bar

Is there limit to how many times you can dine at one particular restaurant?8 answers
6 years, 74 months ago

Amenities are always subject to change, however, there does not appear to be a limit. Restaurants do require reservations and the resort choses which restaurants to open depending on occupancy each week.
MariaCC
no go to any as often as you like.
EdsClub
no. you have the freedom to go wherever.
onebadapple
Nope. No limit. And no reservations for anything except for if you want to sit at the hibachi grill at Himitsu. They do several seatings every night, but that requires a reservation in advance.
Enjoy!
LittleSpoon
No limit and you do not need reservations

Nope! That's the beauty of an all-inclusive! You can even eat at the same place twice in one day :)

how do i get from the airport to your resort?7 answers
5 years, 72 months ago
las vegas, usa
Cheap Caribbean offers round trip airport transfer for an additional cost or you can arrange for alternative transportation, such as a cab.
ccsusan1
buy a prepaid travel arrangement at cancun-airport.com
onebadapple
I've been to Secret's Capri twice now. The first time, we prepurchased a round trip airport transfer through Cheap Caribbean. The vendor, Olympus tours was great. We had two couples in the van with us and had to wait to drop both couples off on our way. (The resort is about 40 to 45 minutes from the airport in Cancun.) The second trip we forgot to prepurchase. I actually thought we did, but looking through the paperwork, I forgot to click that option -- WHOOPS! But it's easy enough to get a taxi through their official taxi authority at the airport terminal. I think it ended up costing an extra ~$50, but we were able to book our trip back to the airport right then. And the trip was direct to the resort. It worked out really nicely.
Enjoy your trip!
LittleSpoon
We booked a shuttle when we booked the trip. Olympus Tours met us at the airport, had a desk at the hotel and were very accommodating!
Gr8jewels4u
Let Cheap Caribbean arrange for the transportation. When you get there, the number of transportation vendors is staggering and they will offer you all kinds of "deals", but by far the best way is prearrange the transportation. If you are really want to go first class, have Cheap Caribbean arrange for a private car to take you. It only costs a little more and the time you save is worth it if can afford it.
Golfguy
I would suggest USA transfers. I have used them twice and they are very reliable and the price is the same if not better than others. It is also a private transfer so no stopping at other resorts along the way.
mes6588
Cheap Caribbean made the arrangements for us (which I highly recommend), but once you get to the airport there are a lot of different shuttle buses and taxis there waiting for you that you can take. Once you are at the resort, the concierge/bellboy services are wonderful and can arrange for any transportation you want whenever you want, as well as 2 desks that are set up by reputable outside companies that will help you book excursions and transportation to or from anywhere.
Bigblockiroc454
Taxi is best. Negotiate price and be prepared to use cash (USD is perfect).
Alternative is arranging the hotel to pick you up, but that may not be cheaper. Also, there are buses/shared ride services, but you will wait for the van/bus to fill up and be stopping at any resorts along the way (takes longer).

What's the weather like towards end of September .?
5 years, 71 months ago
Seany
The weather in September is still quite warm with high temperatures around 90 degrees. This time of the year is hurricane season and typically there is more rain during this time compared to the dry season (Jan-April). It is not unusual to see a little rain on many days, although often for just a few minutes.
ccsusan1
I was just there last week, it is hot 90+. The clouds come and go and it did rain for about 30 minutes one early evening. Super humid!
Honeymooner2012
We were there Sept. 27th thru October 3rd. The weather was great while we were there, but it rained the day we left, and we heard that it had rained for a few days before we arrived. Do't know if this helps much.
Callie
It was warm and sunny, upper 80's
JJMexico
It may give a high chance of rain, but seems to be just a quick pop up storm at some point with lots of sunshine still in the majority. We had perfect weather from 21st-25th and there was usually an 80% chance of rain.

Is all the beer tap beer or can you get it in bottles or cans5 answers
5 years, 70 months ago
Michigan
The resort may vary whether all of their beer is offered via tap, or in cans/bottles, therefore you would be best to check directly with the resort for that information.
KristinCC
I know they at least had Coronas out of bottles, maybe more as well
pbrownw
Yes we were able to get the few brands of beer in bottles.
Golfguy
Bottles and cans. Carona, bud light, Modela
mes6588
No you have a choice. There are some tap beers and they have mostly canned beers because of the beach and pool areas. Only right because they do not want any broken glass any where which makes sense. You will see that almost any where there are pools and beaches. Try different beers you have never tried that's what vacations are all about right?

Which building is closer to the ocean and is it possible to book a room in a particular building?3 answers
When we were visiting Dominican republic, someone listed numbers of building that are close to the ocean for our resort. That really helped - we called the resort 3 weeks before our travel and booked a room in one of these buildings. We also asked for a room with two double beds instead of one king size bed.
Any recommendation for this resort? Is any building/floor better than others? We bought Preferred Club Deluxe suit and we will be there in late August/ early September.
5 years, 70 months ago
Ocean lover
Any special request such as building and bedding are unable to be guaranteed as rooms are assigned by the resort upon arrival at check in.
MariaCC
hotel is in a horse shoe shape and all front /ocean facing and the only ones that were closest to the ocean are actually listed as ocean facing, not partial ocean view. Those are directly facing the ocean and there were like 4 on each side of the ends of the horse shoe. I'm sure they're not cheap...my partial ocean had ocean viewish from the balcony and pool too. The views that have the least ocean view seem to be on the volleyball side of the pool because there are so many palm trees and if you go on the otherside of the pool it looks like you would have less obstructed view of the ocean BUT....all the nightly entertainment is on that side so it's noisey until 2300 (which is okay if you feel like sittingn on your deck in the evening and people watching). I also like the volleyball side because it didnt get the morning sut so I liked sitting out there for coffee and not baking directly in the sun so early where the rest of the ocean facing got all morning sun.
scooterrileysage
It is all one building. This is a small resort. Ask for the 5th floor, which is the top floor best views and less noise.

You could try going onto the resort's web site directly to see if anyone has posted reviews regarding their fitness center in particular. Or you could try contacting the resort directly to ask specific questions regarding their fitness center to possibly get a better idea of what to expect.

i walked in the sports area to get a yoga mat for my room and it was pretty warm down there and didn't seem well ventilated. the first time to pick it up was early in the morning and 2 guests but when i dropped the mat off when I left at noon it wasn't very cool in there. The resort does include a link on their website for weddings, https://www.secretsresorts.com/capri/weddings.asp, and includes information regarding wedding arrangements at the resort.
MariaCC
I wouldn't say the best. I saw a small wedding (2 and 2 witnesses) and it was on the beach and simple but kind of closer than I would want to beach chairs. A respectful distance but still not as lovely dovey feel as I would want.
scooterrileysage
It would be very beautiful. The ceremony site options are lovely and they do close the beach so that it is a bit more private. I would suggest an early in the day or late in the day ceremony as to reduce the beach crowd and for intimacy.
Great food and private area for after the ceremony if you want a small reception.
Honeymooner2012
When we were there, they had a wedding in the gazebo that was very close to the pool/bar area. It was later in the day, and there were some pretty loud people in the pool. Not sure if you want to hear that during your ceremony.
awsonoma
We just returned from our 10 year anniversary and met a GREAT group of people that were there for a wedding, and were invited... we are now talking about returning for our 15 and renewing our vows! It was beautiful, simple and the stff is amazing there, I dont think you could be disappointed!
Kisrow
They do an incredible job with weddings. There was one when we were there last week and it was beautiful. They have a dedicated wedding planner that is there everyday and can help with everything. Just get a hold of the resort and they will let you talk to her and she can make all of your arrangements for the wedding, taking care of your guests and the reception if you want. I only know this because we took the hotel tour and we were introduced to her.

For specific dietary needs, it is best checking directly with the resort to ensure they are able to accommodate you. The email address found directly on the resort's website, https://www.secretsresorts.com/capri/index.asp, is info.secrc@secretsresorts.com.

The breakfast buffet would be easy gluten free and it is the only breakfast option... The lunch options all have very helpful staff for items that need modification (to be gluten free). And like lunch dinner is ala carte and could all be gluten free.
Also, the chefs speak english and are definitly aware of gluten allergies.
Honeymooner2012
The menues indicate what is gluten free at this resort.
sophie54
Hi! My husband and I recently went to Secrets Capri for our honeymoon. I have gluten allergies, however all the restaurants are very consious of this. In fact most of the menus indicate what items on the menu are gluten free, and there was plenty to choose from. I had no problems at all and that was my biggest worry! I hope this helps!
alexanderj188
Best food Ive eaten in awhile... resort or not! And I consider myself a foodie. Loved it, you will not be disappointed, and this was the overall concensus of EVERYONE we met there...

On all of their menus, Secrets Capri provides which items are gluten-free, as well as which ones have nuts, etc.

What are resort coupons used for?7 answers
Can I use them at the spa? Is it $200 in coupons per person or per booking?
5 years, 67 months ago
Mishy
The resort coupon added value is offered directly by the resort, and, if you meet all of the requirements for the added value, you would receive the coupons at check in at the resort. Most times the coupons are broken down into separate amounts for certain uses - ex. spa, bottles of wine, etc. For information on specific amounts and uses, you would need to contact the resort directly as the coupons come from the resort and all rules and regulations for the use of the coupons are mandated by the resort themselves.
KristinCC
The $200.00 is per booking. You can only use one coupon per person. The highest coupon value in the booklet is $40.00. You can only use one per visit.
Callie
The coupons are per room, not person. Of the $200 you can use $80 on the spa but only $40 per treatment. The spa here is great and includes a free hour of hydro therepy. The other coupons are for discounts on upgrading wine or dinner on the beach.
sophie54
The coupons are broken up into smaller values ($40, $20, $10, etc). You can only use one coupon per treatment, and some treatments don't accept coupons. Ask the Spa directly.
awsonoma
The coupons are used for romantic dinner on the beach, bottles of wine, or in the spa. However, you can only use up to a certain amount per each activity, for example if you are going to book a massage you can only use 40 dollars of the coupons for each massage. So you can't use all the coupons at one time for the complete cost of something.
stretch3
Yes we used them at the spa..
TandT
These coupons are almost worthless. While they sound like a good deal, they limit you on how much of the coupon you can spend at any given location. For example, you can only spend ~$40 of the $200 in the spa. The rest you have to cover yourself -- pretty big rip off.
Dhubert777
The 200 dollars in coupons is per booking and can be used for dinners, spa treatments, bottles of wine, and a few other smaller things. However, do be careful. For most purchases involving coupons, there is a limit on how many you can use (regarding value) per purchase, and you will still owe the remainder of the cost of the purchase after the max coupon limit specified for it is deducted.

Are gratuities included?5 answers

All gratuities and taxes are included in our package prices.
CaitlinCC
Yes, We tipped when we thought it was over and above service.
sgj6801
Yes, gratuities are included. We always tip a little extra for good service but not required.
mes6588
A portion of the price you pay to stay there does cover the basic gratuities, but if you feel like you have had good service from a bartender, waiter, your room attendant or whomever they will gladly accept a buck or two here and there. But you don't have to tip every time you turn around or get a drink or a meal by any means. It is entirely up to you.
Bigblockiroc
Yes they are included if you feel a server went above and beyond service duties you can tip them more if you want to but only if you want to it's all inclusive. Yes I did tip some servers extra because yes they did go the extra mile in service but it's all up to you.

The resort has their own menu, they can change the menu at any time, as to whether or not they carry Corona specifically, you would have to contact the resort directly. If you would like to do that, their email is info.secrc@secretsresorts.com
Thank you.
RobinCC
Majority of resort offer domestic beverages. However this is subject to change based upon availability.
CaitlinCC
I think you are asking if they actually serve real Corona beer? If that is your question, then yes, they have Corona and Corona light. Depending on where you are at the resort you will either get the little 10 ounce bottles stocked in your mini-fridge, a real glass at a restaurant, or a hard plastic cup out by the pool or beach. They have bottles and draft.

what can you order from room service ?5 answers

Normally, room service has a special menu, however, what they have on that menu is completely up to the resort. If you would like to contact the resort and find out what is on their room service menu, their email is info.secrc@secretsresorts.com
Thank you!
RobinCC
Just about anything you want. They have everything from brick oven pizzas to taquitos to sandwiches and salads. They will even bring you glasses of beer or wine (on top of what you will already have in your mini-bar in your room). It is 24-7 room service and normally it is hot and at your door in about 20 minutes.
Bigblockiroc
Just about anything. They have a wide range of foods you can choose from. I know that they have very good traditional buffalo wings. And the best part is that it is all included in your stay
NFDH
You can order anything from room service that is on the menu. It is all included in your all-inclusive price.
hansen
You will have a room service menu in your room. You can get breakfast until 11, after that is lunch/dinner type food and dessert. Breakfast can be eggs, fruit, sweet bread, sausage, bacon, coffee, juice, breakfast burrito. You can always order as much as you want. I honestly didn't order anything but breakfast and dessert from room service. But all of the food there is top notch.

What are the menus of the restaurants?2 answers

There are a few different restaurants at Secrets Capri. We do not have access to the menus, as, in many restaurants, their menu changes. I do recommend contacting the resort directly, they may be able to help you out with their menus from their resort. I don't know if they are able to do that or not, but if you have something specific you are looking for, they also may be able to answer those questions for you. Their email is info.secrc@secretsresorts.com
Thank you!
RobinCC
There are normally 7 different dining choices throughout the day. There are 2 nice restaurants that will serve only dinner and require men to wear pants and a collared shirt - one restaurant has gourmet Italian food, one is a hibachi restaurant that does the live cooking (think Benihana). There is a big grill they set up everyday out by the pool that serves lunch with big hot dogs and hamburgers and normal grill stuff. There is a restaurant by the beach that serves a nice sitdown lunch with sandwiches like buffalo chicken, salads and some different seafood dishes and then turns into a steak house at night. A nice seafood restaurant for dinner, a beach side patio that serves lunch and has everything from hamburgers to fajitas. They have brick oven pizzas, snacks like chips with FRESH guacamole (very good!) or little taquitos. There is one buffet restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner that has about everything you can imagine, it is all very good and fresh and their menu changes every day from bar-b-que night to Mexican night. There is a huge variety of food and it is all wonderful. They know that their main clientele will be American, so they cater to us with foods that we would like, plus some of their local specialties that are more like American versions of Mexican food. There are several places you can go eat from about 6 AM to 11 PM, and room service is 24-7. It is all good!!

Dress code specifics?5 answers
I have looked on the Secrets Capri Riviera website in regards to the dress code at the different restaurants at the resort. Many of them say "Bermudas, long shorts, or capris." Does this apply just to men? Or can women wear shorter shorts to the casual dining restaurants? I just wanted to check so I don't pack shorts that I can't wear!
4 years, 59 months ago
St Louis, MO
The resort's page states 'Casual elegance' meaning long pants are required for men and no sleeveless shirts or flip flops are permitted. For more information regarding the resort's dress code, we do suggest contacting them directly as they would be best to assist. The email address found directly on the resort's website (https://www.secretsresorts.com/capri-riviera-cancun) is info.secrc@secretsresorts.com.
MariaCC
We quickly found out that women can wear about anything, but they are pretty strict with the men's dress code.
hansen
From what I saw, there really were not strict with the dress code. Only the Japanese and Italian restaurants require long pants, collared shirts, and shoes for men. For women dresses, skirts, even capris. No flip flops in those 2. The Cactus grill has no dress code (by the pool). The others you can pretty much wear anything as long as you are not in your swimsuit. No sleeveless shirts in any restaurant for men.
HGaff
Apparently women can wear whatever they want because I didn't see any women turned away no matter what she was wearing. However, I (a man) was turned away from breakfast because I was wearing a sleeveless shirt although I saw a woman wearing a bikini with a fishnet wrap and others with swim suit tops and cover-ups. Go figure!
Budman65
Just men, many women were wearing shorts and even jeans.

The all-inclusive stay at this resort does include alcoholic drinks. The information on the resort's website states: "Your Unlimited-Luxury® privileges include all premium wines, beers and top-shelf beverages." The resort's website may be reached here: https://www.secretsresorts.com/capri-riviera-cancun/unlimited-premium-drinks

Yes, it includes alcohol. We were there the end of April/beginning of May for our honeymoon and I ordered every drink I could think of that was possible. They were happy to make them and they all tasted great (try their Tom Collins & Bob Marley they're excellent). They have every liquor you could think of. They have menus for specialty drinks but if you have something in mind that is not on there, they will make it for you and the best part is we didn't pay a dime for the drinks. There were no "surprise" charges on our bill when we checked out. Hope this helps! Happy drinking!!!!
GoldenChild20
No limit. Some of the restaurants have a premium alcohol menu but the bars inside and out have no limit on alcohol.

All-Inclusive does include alcoholic drinks. The alcohol at Secrets was top shelf. I think you could get about whatever drink you wanted! The bartenders are great!!

While we haven't been snorkeling anywhere else, we have been told by a friend who was a scuba instructor and scuba dived all over that Cozumel is one of the best places for Scuba and snorkeling. We used a company called H2O and did a private 4 person tour that was awesome! Just make sure to bring a shirt for the water or apply lots of sunscreen. We saw turtles, sharks, and even had a school of beautiful fish swim along with us. Was perfectly clear water at some spots and was a great experience.
SteveAlexander
Non-existent. There's nothing to see here other than seagrass and sand.
A proper snorkeling experience requires a site with a healthy and thriving coral reef in shallow waters with almost no current or wind. The Secrets Capri resort is not located near such sites (closest would be Cozumel). And while there was scuba diving available, this was through a 3rd party and not managed by the resort. The scuba diving happened to have strong currents (unknown if always the case) and there were few fish to see in comparison with Cozumel, Cancun, Belize, ABC islands, and most of the Caribbean islands.

Secrets Capri is closer to Playa del Carmen than Cancun. Since the Cancun Airport is about 35 mins from the resort, Cancun itself should be closer to 50 mins away in light traffic. Expect a 30-40 minute taxi ride.
Hiring a taxi is fastest (negotiate on price and consider retaining services for later, including the return trip to the airport). I do not recommend renting a car (unnecessary unless you know your way around and absolutely need the flexibility). Other options will probably involve waiting around for more passengers and frequent stops to other resorts along the way (which could extend your door-to-door time to perhaps 1hr or more).

I have heard that the hotel smoking policy has recently changed. Does anyone know what the new policy is? The hotel now says that it is a "Smoke-free property" but there are multiple interpretations as to what that means. Can you smoke in the room (assuming no)? On your patio/balcony? While walking across the property? Any place close to the pool? On the beach? My idea of vacation is sitting back and relaxing with a cold drink, sunshine, a cig, and a game of cards, however it's looking like I may have booked the wrong hotel for that.

I purchased the roundtrip shuttle to and from the hotel. Do I need anything to get on the shuttle? Like a ticket? Where will the shuttle at the airport be located?

Houston
For full details on the particular transfers you purchased, please call in to 800-915-2322 to speak with one of our beach experts.
JeannieCC
VERY EASY! You will find people right outside the airport waiting on you with the signs for the shuttle. It's all right there an they have your name already.
JulesChitown
You may have already gotten an answer or even gone on your trip by now, I don't know, but your question came up as a suggested one for me to answer. The shuttle information is on your trip confirmation. When you get off of the plane and go through customs etc. you exit the airport and there will be all kinds of transportation companies. You look for the sign for your shuttle company and tell them you have arrived, they will ask for your flight number and last name, then you wait for all members of the shuttle to arrive and you go.

Maryland
All inclusive means all meals and snacks. The resort should have plenty of vegetarian and seafood options, but i cannot say specifically because the dining menus and selections change often.
CCGreg
Breakfast is no problem, lots of choices! It is meat heavy, but I found quesadillas, pastas and some salads that were good.
JulesChitown
They are very good about diets and allergies and all the menus are labeled as such. Plenty of options, and if you don't see something you want on the menu just ask. They are willing to accomodate.
msmarx
You can have breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s is also room service At any time. They always asked if you have any special diet needs or allergies.

I'll be traveling here solo for four days. I'm wondering if I'll be the only one not coupled up, and if there are suggestions on how best to meet people at the resort. I'm thinking dinner for one will be interesting...

I just traveled there solo. You'll definitely meet people at the swim up bar! I had some dinners solo and some with new friends. You'll be fine! It is definitely a resort that is catered to couples though.
Kittenwithaglassofrose
There were single people at the resort. Best way to meet people is to hang out at the pool bar or go to the bar at night when they are having love entertainment.
Mcosta1977
When we went about a month ago (we are a couple) and there were a couple of single people there. Also there was a work trip from somewhere. Everyone was super friendly and talked to each other at the pool bar and things like that. I felt that people there were very open to talking, especially after a drink or two! Everyone is relaxed and having fun so it's not a big deal to strike up a conversation.
Salsa98765
There are a few singles that are here. We meet others at the pool and Hibachi grill.

Environmental Levy Fee
The Municipalidad of Solidaridad in the Rivera Maya is one of the most beautiful places in the Mexican Caribbean. Tourism has been instrumental in driving the economic and social development of the region. In an effort to continue to preserve, conserve and beautify the destination, the Municipality of Solidaridad has implemented a small environmental levy on visitors effective September 1, 2017. Hotels will collect 20 Mexican pesos per room per day on check out; the proceeds will be deposited in an environmental trust to fund local projects. The Municipalidad of Solidaridad thanks you for your understanding and support of this worthwhile endeavor. Thank you and enjoy your visit.
