Good Adults Only Resort

The resort is adults only and is located on the beach. The beach is full of seaweed and not the greatest beach. The pool is amazing and offers a swim up bar (don't worry the water is only 3 feet deep). You can lounge around all day poolside and have someone waiting on you the entire day (food and drinks are brought to you). The resort has several restaurants but the Oceaniare has the best food. Great for a girls trip. You do not need to exchange your money into Mexican Pesos (the staff prefers Dollars) and they have change available at the front desk (you will want singles for tips). The room was one of the best rooms I have stayed in. The view was beautiful and the staff was very courteous. The only downside is that they do not have a laundry room available to guests, if you want to wash your clothes, the hotel charges per item. Overall, the value and location make this a good option if you want to stay at an adult's only resort.

Quick Getaway!

Hotel is nice . Rooms are dated. Restaurant options are ok. Buffet choices were not good! Would not stay here again. Good for first timers experiencing all inclusive. Friendly staff though.

Not the best, not the worst

Having been to Mexico at least 10 times staying at various all-inclusives, including 3 Secrets properties, this was probably our least favorite of the 3 Secrets we’ve been to, but not our least favorite of the all-inclusives we’ve experienced. Check-in/Room Initial check-in was typical, we didn’t get the room we requested (king bed vs two doubles) so we requested a change to a king room but supposedly the hotel was at max capacity and our only option was to upgrade to an ocean view room with a king bed. I will say that we did receive a great price on the upgrade and also they offered to push our two doubles together to create one giant bed. Upon moving to the new room we noticed the ceiling was leaking into the living room area, we had to call twice before it was “fixed.” The room was great with a perfect ocean front view with a hammock. Only other issue was with the room temperature, which is pretty typical of these resorts, but our room was 76F every single night which was miserable. Dining I’d give the overall food, breakfast/lunch/dinner about a 7/10 for an all-inclusive. We dined twice at Portofino. Manuel, the Sommelier at Portofino, was outstanding. Bars/Pool/Beach This is the smallest Secrets we’ve been to, so it was a little weird with only one pool but it was fine, despite the hotel being at capacity, the pool was rarely packed. Overall I felt like it was understaffed, there was only ever 1 bartender at the swimup bar, the lobby bar, and the pool side bar. The only bar that had more was the Desires bar, which had 2. They did a great job of turning out the drinks but they seemed the unhappiest staff of the bunch. The beach was great, the staff did an amazing job of cleaning up the seaweed every morning and throughout the day. Entertainment staff was decent but the least overall energetic of our all-inclusives. Spa Spa was amazing. My wife and I did 3 services, all of the staff and services were great! Overall staff (servers, concierge, receptionist etc...) They were generally nice but I wouldn’t say they went out of their way to provide an above and beyond experience. Lastly, we had a great time with our friends, but having so many other options we would choose another Secrets, Breathless or Zoetry next time.

Amazing trip!!

This is about a 3.5 star resort but the staff alone bumps it up to 4 stars. This review is lengthy but is everything you need to know. My girlfriend and I booked the "deal of fortune - adults only ocean view" from 5/23-5/27. 7 days before the trip we were informed that we were staying at Capri. I was upset after reading reviews of all 5 resorts as it was on the lower end of my choices. I called cheap Caribbean to change to another resort but it was very costly to switch so we stuck with Capri. Weather forecast said 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms every day we were there. It rained the first day and the rest was beautiful so don't let a weather report ruin your trip. BEACH: The water is gorgeous and sand is soft. waves were the perfect height. Yes there was seaweed. They do clean it every day but its a hard battle to win. This will happen all over the cost. Once you get through the patches of seaweed you can find clear spots. Paddle boarding is free. Highly recommend Jet Skiing as its cheap and you can get some excellent pictures taken for you. The water is gorgeous out there and you can see Cozumel. We laid on Cabanas and Hammocks whenever we wanted to. POOL: There is one large pool with a swim up bar in it. It is pretty cold but refreshing on a sunny day. It does get a little crowded. The Jacuzzi by the pool is not hot but warmer than the pool. The Ocean is actually warmer than both surprisingly. There are plenty of towels. Finding chairs was easy. They have pool and beach side games from Bache ball and corn hole, to volley ball and soccer. We saw a basketball court on the way in and Tennis court by the spa. There are venders at night by the pool. I don't recommend buying anything from them as its very overpriced. if you do, make sure you haggle. You will see friendly raccoons and iguanas around the resort. FOOD: The Italian and Hibachi were delicious. The only one you need reservations for is the Hibachi (Make them as soon as you get there! We waited one day and almost couldn't get a reservation) Side Note: You don't need a reservation at the Hibachi restaurant if you sit at a table. We didn't know this. Men do need long pants, collared shirt and shoes for these two restaurants. Keeps it classy. Breakfast buffet is good on the beach. Pool side food was good. Lunch and dinner buffets aren't anything special. Room services is 24hrs and is great drunk food! its a pretty big menu. Also recommend doing breakfast room service one day if you have a balcony. (Don't feed the birds they will swarm lol) DRINKS: The alcohol was excellent!! So many different drinks to try. They will give you top shelf liquor if you ask. Frozen drinks are great. Try the Blue Hawaiian and the spider man. Highly recommend bringing a travel cup that keeps drinks cold. They will fill them without question. There are so many bars. SPA: We did a couples hot stone massage and it is the best massage we've ever had! Its a short walk outside to the spa or they will drive you in a golf cart. They are pricey (ours was $235 each for 80 min after coupons). You can do the Hydrotherapy for free on a separate day. Hydrotherapy consists of steam room, sauna, rock path, water massage pool, hot tub and ice bath. if you're lucky you can get to see spider monkeys in this area! ROOM: Room was Amazing!! bed was so comfortable, mini fridge restocked every day and room cleaned every day spotless. TRAVEL: We took a cab to the city of Playa Del Carmen. It is about 20 minutes away and a $20 cab ride. 5th Avenue has tons of clubs leading down to the beach and everything is very cheap there. Lots of locals and a good nightlife experience. They accept US currency but will give you change in Pesos. Good shopping there as well during the day. Cancun is about an hour cab ride north and Tulum is an hour south. Our drivers never spoke English but they were good. Easy to get a cab home with same company. I would like to give special thanks to Filemon for drinks at the beach, Alfonso and Alfredo at Hibachi, Adrianna and Trinidad at the spa are amazing masseuses, Alejandra took excellent photos and was very personable and informative! Very good at her job. Also the woman at the spa concierge who we booked our spa with. Her name started with an X but I cannot remember it. However she remembered us every time we passed and was lovely. All of the staff really made this trip memorable. Pat yourselves on the back if you are reading this. MAKE SURE YOU TIP EVERYONE. They really do deserve it! You can get change at the concierge and ATM's are there as well. Don't forget to bring sunscreen and insulated cups as well as bug spray if you have trouble with mosquito. You will likely go home with bug bites. Also you get a lot of perks if you are going for your Honeymoon so I highly recommend to "be on your honeymoon" ;) Makes for a wonderful experience! This was our first trip with Cheap Caribbean and will not be our last!
