My husband and I decided to get away for our anniversary and heard great things about this resort. The jungle and wildlife surrounding the resort were amazing and we got to learn about some new animals in the area. Our room was at the top of a hill but there were shuttles that we could call to come get us or take us back to the room. We were concerned about the weather but ended up having great weather majority of the days and were able to relax poolside in the sun. Rainfall was closer to evening/dinner time which was great for us. Alonso at the swim-up bar was spectacular - attentive and made our time in the pool memorable. The team onsite who were helping us with everything were amazing and stopped to make sure we were okay on multiple occasions. The preferred lounge was in great condition and the bartender and staff were extremely friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. Overall we would recommend this trip for a couples get away since this is a smaller resort in comparison to the other Secrets we have been to. We had a wonderful time and cannot thank the staff enough for all their hard work.

Memorable Trip!!!
Beautiful all inclusive resort with amazing attentive staff and welcoming and friendly people. Dalay was our amazing activities coordinator, she was always smiling and happy. She remembered our names and always encouraged us to participate. She made our stay so very enjoyable. She made you want to participate because she was having a great time herself. So personable and friendly! Thank you Costa Rica, Secrets and Dalay for a truly memorable stay!!!

5/5 Stars: Unplugged, Authentic, and Not Your Typical Mega-Resort
Secrets Papagayo is tucked into the steep hills of Guanacaste, feeling more like a private jungle village than a crowded mega-resort. The wildlife here is thriving—expect to see iguanas and tropical birds right outside your beautiful, wood-accented room, which features a brilliant two-way "Secret Box" so room service never has to knock. Be prepared for the terrain, though; the property is incredibly steep, so you'll rely heavily on 24/7 shuttles, and while the staff will manually lift wheelchairs into the vans, it's not ideal for heavy power chairs or scooters. The food stays incredibly fresh—especially the daily ceviche station and the Teppanyaki show—but definitely rent a car to explore Guanacaste on your own schedule, from the adrenaline rush at Diamante Eco Adventure Park to the natural volcanic pools at Río Negro.
- AdvisoryStudent Groups (Spring Breakers) are not permitted at this hotel. A student group consist of those that travel without parent supervision or a responsible adult in each room.
