22 yr old M here. Perfect all around balance from clean room, clean resort, good food, lots of activity, nightlife, and relaxation, rare to find in Punta. Newer resort, good for couples, family vacations or even a friends trip. def recommend.

    Enjoyed our Trip

This was our 2nd time to Punta Cana, and we enjoyed our trip. The resort is beautiful, the layout was nice, and it never felt overly crowding despite being told they were at 100% capacity. The location of the resort was nice as well, a quick 50ish minutes from the airport (or we like to say about 3 beers). We stayed in the Preferred building and had a great view on the ocean from our room. The room was clean, and the staff did an amazing job with housekeeping daily. We walked the beach a few times while we were there, the sand was great. The ocean was rough most days, so we did not venture in more than ankle deep and it was a comfortable temperature. We only utilized the Preferred pool, and it never felt overcrowded and we never had an issue with getting a chair. We felt there were plenty of chairs throughout the resort. We enjoyed the majority of the bars, lounges and restaurants as well. Most of the staff that we did encounter were friendly and engaging. We did have some unpleasant experiences with a few, but we did not let those few ruin our trip. Overall, our biggest Pros would be the staff that we did enjoy were amazing. Very friendly, helpful, kind, bubbly and very good at their jobs. The food was very good as well. We are not foodies, but I can be a bit of a picky eater and was always able to find something I enjoyed. Drinks were good as well. We usually do not get super fancy with what we order but if we did, they all tasted great. Three very large pools which allowed people to spread out and not feel congested. Our biggest Cons would be that some of the staff was not always the friendliest/professional. We have been to many other Secrets and understand what the standard is for their brand. We felt that some of the entertainment staff weren't always acting in a professional manner. It is fine to interact with guests and have conversations, but making a video with someone who is twerking just felt very unprofessional to us and we also heard several other guests mention how they thought that that was wrong. We arrived for dinner one night at Seaside and the hostess told us there was a 30-minute wait, for us it is not a big deal, so we headed back to the Preferred lounge and had another drink and waited. After that 30 minutes we returned to the host stand and gave her our name and she said it would be another 10 minutes, again we were not in a real hurry, so we waited. Went back up there after the 10-minute wait and said they still did not have a table ready and it would be another 10–20-minute wait and when we said you told us that several times now, she basically rolled her eyes and gave attitude to my husband. We waited along the side, and she finally stated that she had a spot outside even though we had mentioned we wanted to sit inside, at this point we were getting a little irritated, but said no we will wait for a table inside. Shortly after that we were seating inside. Once seated we were given water, and the waiter took our order almost immediately. We ordered 2 different soups, and they brought out the same one for both of us. We ordered 4 different sides, and they were all wrong and different from what we ordered. We asked for beverages and never got them and then my husband finally asked if he could just get a beer and I asked for a sparkling rose. They brought his beer and an empty champagne flute and never came to fill it with anything. They also never refilled out water. Never went back to Seaside that trip because it left a bad taste in our mouth about the service and it was unfortunate because that is usually one of our favorite dinner spots. The other bad dining experience we had was at Oceana for Preferred breakfast. We asked for mimosas and never got them. We were not sure who our server was because we had someone bring us water (who did ask us if we wanted anything else to drink) and then manager or supervisor took our order. The server that originally took our drink order also walked by several times and never checked on us. We finally saw another server tending to another table and asked if we could get some drinks and he apologized and got them right away, so we gave him the tip. The last bad experience we had was someone was vaping in the Preferred lounge closer to the pools. That bar area is not very big, and I felt it was very disrespectful for that person to be doing that inside when I am pretty sure it is not allowed. We ended up saying something to the attendant at the desk and walked out. I assume the handled it, but it felt like people were vaping and smoking all over the place, especially in public areas. Overall, we did have an amazing trip and had a lot of fun on the resort. I would like to give a few shoutouts to those staff members that did help make our experience that much better! Eliezer: our butler: he was absolutely amazing. He messaged us each morning with the Sundial and checked in or looked for us on a daily basis to make sure we had everything we needed. He was the best butler we have had at any of the Secrets we have been to. Yuneiby: Sports bar at afternoon/night: he was always smiling and interacting with us and other guests. His drinks were tasty, and he was always making sure my husband did not go without a beer, even if it was a mini can. Sujeidy: Preferred building (12) evening: super bubbly and high energy. Her laugh was contagious, and she was always smiling. She was super sweet and very patient with us and our broken Spanish. She makes a very good espresso martini as well. Miguel: Preferred building (12) evening: makes a very good dirty martini and was very professional throughout our stay. Julia and Yame (not sure on that spelling): massage therapists: best massages we have had at any resort we have been to. Juan F: Sports bar at afternoon/night: best spicy margarita I had all trip! Luis: Main Preferred lounge: always greeted us as we walked around the corner and was basically already pouring our mimosa when we walked in. He was very attentive and professional. Very friendly as well. Also made the best bloody mary we had our entire stay. Isael: Main Preferred lounge: was very polite, friendly and calm. Angel: Preferred lounge (12) mid-day: we saw him other places as well but when he was in there the minute, we walked up to the bar he had our liquor of choice on the bar and ready to make us a drink and a shot before heading to the pool. He had very good energy as well. Felix: Main Preferred lounge: high energy and make a great old fashion and was very friendly as well. Christopher: Portofino: very good server and very kind and helpful. Each time he was very professional and had great personality Ranphi: Sommelier: even though we did not buy wine on this trip he was very knowledgeable and kind. He would walk by the pool and wave at us, and it was just that little extra that made you feel just a little more special. Edimir: La Tierra: great server and very attentive and friendly. Really enjoyed our dining experience with him as our server. Raynel: Preferred building (12) lounge concierge: he always came over to chat with us when we were in there and was very friendly and always smiling.

    Birthday Trip Disappointment

I was disappointed the entire trip. The architect was amazing, the resort is beautiful. However, plan to be hungry and disappointed by the weak drinks. If you like bland food, this is the place for you.

Beautiful facility but service needs a boost!

The facilities are amazing but if great dining and service are what you're seeking, don't come with high expectations. Service (especially at Barefoot beachside rest) was painfully slow. I went nearly daily since I spent most my time at the beach. I'm glad I had my book with me because just the wait time for a drink to come to table average 30+ minutes on 3 occasions. Then, the food which was basic (chicken wrap and barre burger) also took 35-45 minutes on average and was medicore. More often than not, they never brought condiments for burgers. The only person on top of their job was the person pouring the water. Beverage and food service were such a disappointment. It would have been faster to go to the Market Cafe way up by the lobby. So if you go, bring a book or good company and maybe stop at another bar on your way to eat there so you have a drink in hand while you wait another 30 minutes for them to bring you another beverage.

Stolen Property, Manipulative Sales Tactics, Poor Food, and No Accountability — Avoid This Resort

I had a deeply disappointing experience at Secrets Tides Punta Cana, and I strongly advise others to avoid this property. Stolen Property & Lack of Accountability: My entire set of skincare products was stolen from my locker at the spa. Instead of properly handling the situation, the management pressured us to sign a form promising not to report the incident to the police, claiming they would “investigate internally.” This internal investigation was purely performative. Once our vacation ended and we left the resort, they completely stopped responding to our messages. All we needed was a basic incident report so we could file an insurance claim, but as soon as you leave, you will not hear from them again. Be warned: do not expect follow-up or accountability after checkout. (new update: they responded and denied our loss, just trying to avoid any responsibility). Manipulative “Complimentary” Massage Scam: We were offered a “complimentary” couple’s massage, which turned out to be a trap. We were forced into a 2-hour meeting with the sales team, followed by another 90-minute high-pressure sales presentation to sell Hyatt products and memberships. This consumed 2 half a day of our vacation. They lure you in and make it extremely uncomfortable to decline. If you are polite or non-confrontational, you will be taken advantage of. Do not be fooled by anything labeled “complimentary.” Terrible Experience During Christmas (Dec 24–27): Avoid visiting during Christmas. Most staff were on vacation, and we were told they receive no holiday pay, which clearly reflected in the service and food quality. All restaurants served the same fixed four-course menu, and the food was extremely poor—cold, overcooked, and difficult to chew. The buffet was the only somewhat acceptable option. All other restaurants had terrible service and unacceptable food quality. Dining & Facilities Issues: Restaurants claim no reservation required, yet there are always long lineup and waitlists. Expect 2.5 hours or more to finish a meal — bring a book. Gym is very small, overcrowded, poorly ventilated, and hot on the first floor where half of the weight training equipments are. Pools are overcrowded and the resort lacks any real vacation or atmosphere, feels like a college dorm. Overall Impression: This resort is purely transactional. Staff only seem interested if you are willing to pay extra for upgrades or buy Hyatt products. Otherwise, your concerns are ignored. This was a huge disappointment from start to finish. Between stolen property, manipulation, poor food, long waits, and complete lack of accountability, this resort does not meet the standards it advertises. Highly NOT recommended. Avoid this property.
