best for money

Nice resort for the money. Loved the nightly entertainment, rarley get that. Rooms cleaned and towels taken 2 times a day. Food very good. The restaurants extremely nice. Always got a lounge chair on beach or at pools. 98% of the workers were very friendly. Pools closed by 5pm or 6, didnt know why, the time of year?

I wish I had read the reviews better

My kids (ages 3 and 9) had fun and I am thankful for that, but I would not stay at this resort again. There is a reason it is cheaper than others. I wish that I had spent a little more and stayed somewhere nicer. I had read the reviews before we left and knew that some people had negative things to say but since I'm not usually bothered by much I figured it would be fine. Most of the problems are small but there are SO many of them in my opinion that I won't stay here again unless they make major changes. The positives- the Cove side is quieter than the Splash side, and most of the food we had was decent. The buffet was okay but some of the restaurants had good options. The waterslides were perfect for my kids' ages and they had a great time swimming and making new friends. There is plenty of shallow areas where younger kids can play. We had an ocean view family suite and they loved the bunk beds. When the weather cleared up the beach was pretty enough and we were able to see many different types of fish. Charmaine in the kids' club and Stephen on the beach were both great, as was our server in Da Mario (I wish I could remember his name) and our housekeeper. The games desk loans out sand toys and games, which was nice. The negatives- with the exception of a handful of people, most of the staff seemed unhappy to be there and unhappy to be serving anyone. The entire resort seems dated and run down. We paid for an upgraded room but the room, the bathroom in particular, looked very old and in need of repair (not just updating). The beds were the most uncomfortable I've ever had in a hotel or resort. Even my child noticed that it looked nothing like online so I had to explain to her about marketing! We were technically on the Cove side but we were right next to the waterpark which got a little noisy at times. If you choose to go, I would pay for the ocean front room as the ocean view was very limited from our section of the resort. The staff doesn't enforce their "rule" of not reserving beach chairs that are not being used- we went to the beach one afternoon and there was not one available chair (even though only about 1/4 of them had people in or nearby them.) When we arrived at the resort there were NO towels in our room. We called about it but they didn't arrive until we were starting to fall asleep that night. This seems ridiculous to me. They also would not give us enough wash cloths for our whole family, which was also odd. You have to go get and exchange your beach towels every day. At least on the Cove side, you don't have to sign for them. If you want to snorkel without paying to take the boat out, take your own snorkel gear. They didn't loan it out there- the games desk said to ask watersports, and watersports said to ask the games desk. Everything there is pricier than I have seen at other resorts we've stayed at in Jamaica and we ended up paying $50 for cheap snorkel gear in the resort shop and $27 for sunscreen!

So so....

Nice place if you have kids or do not want to party or have a nice night life! Boring resort... nothing to do but drink cheap liquor and swim. If you are looking for a resort with a beach... this is not the one. Plenty of pools but the beach is a man made mess. Food was so so.. at the Buffet. The Best restaurant was Gohon Asian cuisine.. worst was Potorfino Italian place. Lasagna noodles were not cooked on the inside and we waited almost an hour for it! People left out upset. The wait to get in was long.. the wait for food was even longer. Why were all the restaurants closed at a resort except for one.???. Did people call out from work? Best Servers were Janelle at Seaside Grill and Khydeene Stevens at buffet

What's to Love

Feeling like royalty during the red carpet check-in while nibbling on frozen treats.

Every room is upgraded to The Sun Club, a family-centric program that features fun things for the kids like cartoons in the rooms & milk and cookies.

Kids get a resort passport that kicks off a scavenger hunt (read: keeps them occupied so you can chill).

The Pirate's Paradise Waterpark (shiver me timbers!) that includes a pirate ship and a 40-foot plank for wayward mutineers.

Getting pampered at the spa with stress-ousting massages, rejuvenating facials, and more. (A nice break from all the pirate stuff.)

What We'd Change

Sometimes the restaurants are busy, but you don't need reservations and the resort staff is eager to get you in as soon as possible.

Why You Should Go

Spectacular snorkeling at Montego Bay Marine Park, Jamaica's first underwater national park with protected swimming areas.

It sits on a private peninsula that boasts over 1,800 feet of beachtastic white sand with palapas, under which you can find your perch.

Dunns River Falls, a famous, rockin' waterfall, is near.

Eco-adventure tours are available, and waiting for you. Bring your bug spray.

It's near the "Hip Strip," a cultural epi-center filled with handcrafts by local artisans, Jamaican food and island hospitality, Mon.

Golf is available just 30 minutes away. Schwing.

No irritating wristbands required.
