Great value and great family trip

Our family had a great experience at Margaritaville Beach Resort. Beautiful lobby. Great beach in a cove, which was perfect for our young children because it was shallow and no big waves. We also enjoyed exploring the tide pools in the rocky area next to the beach during low tide. The pools were large and accommodating for many guests. The swim up bar was a fun touch. The resort staff was all friendly and willing to help with any and all questions we had about the area and additional resources like rental cars. The room was nice. A small fridge made it possible to keep cold drinks and snacks in the room. The bathroom door is not solid, more like a closet door than a bathroom door. The beds were comfortable. In general, we had a wonderful time. The only negative I would say is that there was a night when there was live music in the lobby area and it was extremely loud in the room while our kids were going to bed. We understand fun and music, but we would have liked to know that was going to happen. When we checked in, there was no mention of live music. However, it was only for one evening. We also enjoyed that this resort was not part of the main 7-mile beach. We were able to have less traffic and less people because we were away from the other resorts.

This a new hotel and its missing a spa and fitness center. The welcome drink is small margarita. The hotel seems to be low on staff. The hotel needs to spray the grounds because the mosquitoes will feast on your flesh. Bug repellent is a must in your luggage. The hotel has a beautiful beach and is near some of the greatest restaurants.

Disappointed

First things first, the open air feel of the lobby is wonderful, however that's where it pretty much ends. We found MOST of the staff to be helpful and friendly with the exception of one bartender at the swim up bar. The rooms are nicely decorated, nothing lavish Island feel, however there is a musty odor to the rooms. We stayed on the 3rd floor and immediately out of the elevator we were greeted with unfinished drywall patchwork... hideous and uninviting! The swim up beach/lagoon area not impressed.... too much seaweed or seagrass or whatever it was.. it's definitely NOT like the rest of 7 miles beach. The restaurants are basic. We had breakfast at Yara and found it to be bland and skimpy servings. The bar food was your basic nacho's, etc. Overall, very dissatisfied with this hotel, I was expecting more since Jimmy Buffett's name is attached to it. We wont be staying here again. This is our second time to Grand Cayman Island but our one and only time at Margaritaville.

Great 1st experience with Cheap caribbean

Check in was a breeze and we were upgraded to a room with a view (thanks Gerald)! Margaritaville has everything that you need. When comparing other hotels in this price range-it would be hard to find a better deal for a hotel on the beach. Yes-you have to walk past the pools to get to the beach- but it's there and there are plenty of chairs and umbrellas for guest use. There are snorkel areas right off of the beach and you can walk up the beach to the Marriott which has an artficial reef from their beach area. I recommend bringing your snorkel gear to save money but you can rent from the nearby dive shops also. The food was good but overpriced. There are several restaurants close by and they are very good but overpriced as well. Coconut Joe's has a great breakfast deal (seafood is very good)and XQ's pizza and grill has 1/2 price pizza from 3-5pm and the pizza/service is very good! My only suggestion to make this hotel perfect for money conscious travelers is to offer a free easy breakfast of bagels, toast, muffins or add some low cost food/snack items for purchase in the lobby/gift shop. There is a grocery store less than a mile away and a bakery within a few blocks. The staff in the lobby will call a taxi for you but try the public bus-$2.50 for most trips. Housekeeping came daily and replenished all needed items. Air conditioning worked great. The bed was comfortable. Other than a night of live music (that ends at 10) it was quiet. There are chickens on the grounds and the rooster crows early! I found it nice that the chickens are left alone and allowed to roam. There are security guards onsite. I never felt unsafe but it was comforting knowing they were there. We had a great vacation and enjoyed our stay at the Margaritaville. We would easily recommend it and stay here again!
