Diving With Friends
Great experience. The resort is very nice. The service is excellent. Great location for diving. Short boat rides to beautiful dive sites. Nice variety of food. They accommodate a vegetarian diet.

Oct 28, 2025Beautiful Resort with the Friendliest Staff — But the Food Needs Work
We recently stayed at Iberostar Waves Cozumel and overall, we had a nice time. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous — lush, tropical, and even prettier in person than in the photos. The beach is beautiful, though I’d definitely recommend wearing water shoes since the entry can be rocky. Because boats are constantly coming and going, the snorkeling right off the beach isn’t great, though you can spot a few fish around the pier if you’re careful. We enjoined the wildlife but understand that it’s not for everyone. Just know there are peacocks roaming, lots of curious coati, beautiful pink flamingos, iguanas and some resident cats. The pool area is lovely and there’s a good variety of activities to keep you entertained throughout the day. Bartenders work very hard to fulfill every order! They must be exhausted at the end of the day. Check-in and check-out were both quick and easy and every staff member we met was genuinely kind and eager to help. Cindy at the breakfast buffet deserves special mention as she was so warm and accommodating, always greeting us with a smile and making my morning coffee feel extra special. Carlos was also wonderful, cheerful and made our days brighter. Service was good. Now for the food: Homemade tacos by the Smokehouse (lunch) are hands down the best food at the resort — fresh, flavorful, and delicious! We found ourselves going back for them again and again. Unfortunately, the other restaurants, while beautifully designed and clearly trying hard, just didn’t deliver on quality and taste. We never went hungry, but even eating carefully, we didn’t always feel great afterward. Our room was clean and adequate for our stay. The only issue was that the sheets smelled sour when we arrived, but housekeeping came promptly and replaced them when we asked, which we appreciated. I did miss having bottles of water readily available, but they give 2 large glass bottles you fill yourself at the filling stations. I brought my own unbreakable water bottle that was lighter weight to carry around and keep by my bed. In summary, Iberostar Waves Cozumel is a beautiful property with wonderful staff and a relaxing atmosphere. If the food quality improved, this resort would truly be amazing.

What You would expect.
The hotel part is absolutely fine. The food is a 2 or maybe a 3 on a good day. Typical all-inclusive quality. But, the food is not so good. It’s the quality level you might expect, but not a 5 star level for certain.
- AdvisoryThe Municipal Government will be charging all guests in the area of Cozumel an Environmental Sanitation Tax of a minimum $79.20 pesos, ($4.00 usd approximately) per room per night. This amount is not included in your vacation price and will be collected at your hotel. These funds are being used to protect, maintain and conserve the extraordinary beauty of the area.

STUDENT/YOUTH GROUPS POLICY - In order to maintain a family oriented environment, Iberostar Hotels and Resorts will be implementing a policy directed at student/youth groups. Students/youth are considered by the hotel as any person between 16 and 23 years of age. In addition to the Spring Break Policy instituted for all bookings traveling in the months of March and April, Groups shall adhere to the following conditions:
- All student/youth groups must be pre-approved and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- Upon check-in, each group will be required to make a refundable cash deposit of USD $200.00 per room for any charges or damages that might be incurred during the stay.
- In the event that any member(s) from the group engage in inappropriate behavior disrespecting Hotel staff and/or other guests or causing physical damages to the facilities, the hotel management reserves the right to expel the entire group
without reimbursement or refund of the remaining nights.SPRING BREAK POLICY - The resort is a family oriented environment. Bookings traveling in the months of March and April will be subject to the following conditions:
