Nth visit to VIM
Great experience. A lot has changed since we visited the first time ... about 14/15 years ago. Coming back almost every year, except during the COVID pandemic. All in all, it has been a good experience for this visit. The common denominator is the lush grounds. Always great! Some things have changed, ups and downs throughout the years. - Night entertainment: We appreciated the change in the late night entertainment; i.e., live music. We really liked the Imperial Band in the past. However, the show and material has gotten stale... main vocalist asks for special requests; however, they are almost never fulfilled (actually, they popooed them as they are not part of their programmed repertoire. More changes that bring fun bands would greatly enhance the customer experience. - Restaurants: We appreciated the configuration changes to the Marche with some exceptions (shelves are high for most people)... and food signs ar very hard to read for all people!!! As always, Naomi and her team are on top of things. This manager goes above and beyond to make customers feel at home. Very natural for her "Es algo natural para ella"!!!Lunch is great in both Le Marche and Tierra y Mar ( not to mention the great service. Dinner at Tierra y Mar is disappointing and frankly horrible! Bad experience with both steak and fish!!! Very different from previous years. Japanese restaurant, Ginger, might want to reinstate the shrimp tempura dish. Other restaurants kept their standards which we greatly appreciate. - Golf cart transportation: Kudos to the transport team!!! Always there for you with a big smile. Keep it up!!! - Service New personnel would benefit from more training. We can see the gap with seasoned staff who are very tuned to customers needs. Maybe some mentoring and buddy/pairing system might be beneficial to bridge the gap. - Management In the past, we noticed more presence and oversight of management (day, evening, and night). As a matter of fact, we had surveys presented by managers (white shirts) during breakfast ... we absolutely appreciated the swift actions on the feedback we submitted at that time. This review is meant to be constructive. This venue remains a very good resort and we are planning on coming back next year.

Good Resort but a lot of walking
The Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya is a good fun resort. One of the best beaches I've been to in The Cancun/Playa area. You will do a lot of walking, even with the carts that come and get you. Building 7 to the main pool, then off to grab a coffee at the coffee shop, and then back to the main pool was a 1.6 mile round trip. My wife had no issues closing her iWatch rings early on a daily basis. The grounds are beautiful, but the jungle background invites the bug bites. Two in our group really got bad bites throughout the trip. This resort has a very dedicated following of people that always return. Hence, the better reviews than what we experienced at the resort. We did find that the loyal following can also be seen as a negative aspect to the resort as well (i.e. people always telling how to do something). The food the first night was outstanding. The next 5 nights, the occupancy was higher, and the food quality declined. The best meal was at the Steakhouse. But then again, our worse meal was also at the Steakhouse when it was extremely busy a few nights later. I guess they did do a rehab on the rooms a few years ago. My wife really hated the Golden Superior setup. Half the workers are friendly, the other half show that they don't want to be there in their attitude and greetings. We would not return to this resort. We find better bang for the buck at an Excellence or Secrets.
