    Always a great time

Always love going to Unico. Even better experience with Laura as our local host. Spent a week for our honey moon and Laura went above and beyond to help us celebrate. Inclusive location and we always feel safe. Thank you Laura for a wonderful week!

Relaxing time at Unico with outstanding staff and food.

This was our first visit to Unico and overall it was a good experience. Check-in: They bring you a drink and seat you in the lounge while they check you in. This is really a vacation club sales opportunity where they walk you through some of the amenities and then discuss how they can get you a free massage if you attend a breakfast with them. We were firm that we weren’t interested (we weren’t) and they then took us to our room. After a long day of travel, not really the thing I want to sit through. Room: The room was really nice with every amenity you could think of. Plenty of snacks, drinks and water. Twice they were a little late cleaning the room for my liking (4-5pm), but the housekeeping was good. One room complaint was that the shower water temperature kept swinging between hot and cool. Restaurants/Food: Really good. All the restaurants were very good for an all inclusive and it looked like very good food safety practices were in place. We especially liked the Cueva Siete as it had really delicious and interesting Mexican food. Even the poolside food was very nice. Also the coffee shop had amazing pastries. Staff: Always very friendly and helpful. Special callout to Marco our local host, Manu on the activities team, and Gabriella, Carlos, Rodimiro, and Erick on the waitstaff who really went out of their way for us. Facilities: Nice, but in need of a little freshening here and there. Some peeling paint and the quiet pool looks like it has been patched several times. Beach has lots of seaweed, but we knew to expect that coming in and they worked to remove it daily. Activities: We used the gym regularly and it was well equipped. There isn't too much in terms of night life here, but that was fine with us. We avoided the main pool where there was more going on. One activity that was surprisingly fun was the 6pm art activity in the lobby. Also enjoyed the beach walk in the morning. Checkout - very easy with no surprise charges. Transport: (not really a hotel issue, but worth knowing) On the way there we had no issues. The hotel is a good hour from the airport, but on the return our shared transport company pickup time was five hours before the flight. You may want to consider using the private transfer option. Summary: Nice resort with great food and outstanding staff. A little far from the airport, but overall a good experience.

The perfect get away from the troubles of the world!

UNICO was beyond our expectations! This place was recommended to us by friends who stayed the year prior, and everything they mentioned was true! Our concerns were we didn’t speak Spanish well at all (we are trying to learn!) but none of that was an issue communicating with the staff! Every. Single. One. Was friendly! The room was a dream! We used the bath tub on the patio often and the room service was excellent! We enjoyed every meal there, and the Asian restaurant was the best! Do not skip it!

Incredible week spent at Unico2087. Epitome of a 5 Star Diamond All Inclusive Resort

My mom and I spent an incredible week at Unico 2097. Mother / Daughter Trip. I have a lot to share, mainly positive, with the hope it helps other people who are coming to Unico. It can be a tad overwhelming if it’s your first time, lots of moving parts until you get the lay of the land. Unico is the epitome of a luxury beautiful resort! You are very well taken care of throughout your whole stay and the staff (for the most part) make you feel very special. We really connected with some of the staff and our host, Raul.Huge shout out to Brain, Manuel, and Raul, Gabriella at 2087 Grille and Claudia at Maru House. For the Shuttle Transportation from airport to resort; the assigned people were holding AVA signs NOT Unico…this was a little confusing for us and we just expected and assumed they would be holding up a Unico sign. Bring Cash, USD, for tipping. We would tip accordingly for the drivers, bar staff, lunch, dinners, housekeeping, etc. They don’t expect much and appreciate anything. We did tip our Host, Raul, because he was very helpful and so friendly/personable to us. Your host will communicate through WhatsApp so make sure that is downloaded. Unless you are interested in becoming a “member” of the resort(s) “Legendary” – you must nip it and be VERY STERN AND DIRECT from the get-go (typically at check in) that you are not interested. They will hound you to take an hour and half to listen to the presentation. I got suckered in – I can see how its appealing, but you must have your wallet prepared and be ready to spend some big money. You will see many people wearing “Legendary” wristbands… I asked several of them and they all said its 100% worth it and highly recommend. Again- come prepared if that’s your intention, if not SAY NO with force. Check in was very seamless and enjoyable, along with checkout. The SPA was incredible. Karla did my 80 min massage. My only complaint was the massage tables were hard as a rock and not comfy at all. Our room was amazing, and the placement of the room was 10/10. Room 5405. Request if you can. Close to elevator and main lobby/ coffee shop. One downfall is our TV never worked. Pepsi resort, not Coke. I will say as a Diet Coke addict, the Pepsi Light over ice hit every single time. No straws, bring your own, we also brought our own Owalla and Stanley type cups, highly recommend that. Food is pretty good – I was not BLOWN away by anything, but certain things stood out. Highly recommend making reservations, our host made all of ours. Bar Balman- Lobby bar - great service, buzzy, great drinks and many sitting options. Few TV'S as well. Inez Café – the coffee shop in lobby is great. Grab and go pastries and little shortbread cookies that were so yummy. The espresso and coffee was great! Cueve Siete- “Mexican Restaurant” was just okay. Defiantly isn’t Mexican. My filet stood out. Order the tableside Mayan Coffee – it was incredible. Unico 2087- grill that is open for the buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Great service/ Lots of options. Amazing burger and steaks for dinner. Dinner al fresco is so nice and vibey. Froylan, server was outstanding. Outdoor Pool Restaurant – basic bar / pool food. The guac trio was always fresh and so yummy. Brain is amazing here and at pool service. Mi Carisa – Italian Restaurant – we loved it. Many options. Also – the “sit down” breakfast is here – highly recommend the crepes and the green chilaquiles with an egg. Maru House – Asian – 10/10 – the hibachi was incredible along with the sit-down restaurant. (they are 2 separate things so you must specify when making a reservation) In- Room dining- not impressed other than the Crème Brulee and churros – delicious! PIZZA OVEN- outdoor brick oven pizza by pool area. So yummy, we could have eaten that every day! There are 3 pools - Siesta Pool - Party Pool ( where pool party/ volleyball/ swim up bar is) and Quiet Pool - I recommend this for a day or few hours for a good escape. They do have a private beach area - it is more of a pool resort but my mom went to the beach and really enjoyed it. She also stated it's about 20 degrees cooler down there. Lots of seaweed unfortunately. Beautiful views nonetheless. Water Aerobics is SO FUN! The instructors (Manu) are the best and so energetic. Unico is most certainly lacking nighttime entertainment...they do offer some shows in the "club, Palmero Lounge" but other than that it's back to the room after dinner other than the lobby bar. We cant wait to come back and bring our friends and family!! Until next time Unico.....

Best Food at any AI we've been to!

TL:DR Best AI resort we've been to in Mexico and we've been annually going since 09'. Food; 9/10 - only weak spot was lunch and that was kind of our bad for not exploring lunches further. We stuck with pizza which was 6/10. Dinners; we had 20 87 (steakhouse) 8/10 & Hibachi 9/10 & Italian 10/10. Breakfast buffet was above average for AI resorts (7/10) while breakfast at the italian restaurant was 10/10. We did this two days and wish we did it every day. Drinks; 9/10 - more consistent (bar to bar, etc) than other AIs we've been to which was nice. Drinks at the restaurants were legit D/FW nice restaurant quality. 15/20$ craft cocktails. Service - Restaurants 10/10 - It seemed slow when we were there and there were a few company events which did their own thing. But the timing of the food was just like any normal D/FW restaurant - in and out in 60-80 minutes if you wanted to be that quick. Servers were friendly, attentive, and best we've had at any AI resort hands down. Sorry Secrets.. Service - Bars & Pools 6/10 - Not awful, but if i'm being nit picky this is where I would offer feedback. Service was a bit slow but not something that would prevent us from coming back. Beach - Beyond their control but 1/10 - worst the sargassum has been ever, in our experience. In the ocean, on the beach, the smell,....it was not good Pools - 9/10 - Great vibe on Saturday with the DJ. Plenty of people playing volleyball and basketball. Service at swim up bar was great. My germaphobe self could have use the pool water to be a bit cleaner / filtered more but i am weird like that. Overall Hospitality - 8/10 - We didnt get the "Secrets" vibe from the entire staff. At Secrets, Beloved, Etc, ALL staff would acknowledge and say hello, but this was not the case here. No worries, it's not that big of a deal. But some people rave about the friendliness of the staff. Nothing special. Room / Maid / Minibar - 7/10 - mini bar was never restocked. even called on day 2 and specifically asked for refills and left cash, but noone ever came. Maids were fine. Tipped each morning which may have helped? Room was great (10/10) shower was awesome, balcony was awesome. No issues with the room at all. Timeshare - only asked about it once which is how we like it. LOL - we did sign up for the Paradise Pass when we were leaving which seemed like a good deal for next year. We may have just found our AI home moving forward. Excited that Unico Jamaica will be opening up at some point in the future! ***Final / main point of dissatisfaction and I almost forgot; they (someone) was burning something for 2-3 days of our stay. We thought it was them burning the seaweed but were told that wasn't it. Nonetheless, the smell/smoke made it into our rooms and it was a big dissatisfier. The hotel told us it was 'neighbors' burning trash possibly or burning jungle/forest to clear it out. Smell was terrible and frankly caused mild respiratory issues.
