Great Stay, Believe the Pictures - Its Beautiful!

This was our anniversary trip and this resort did not disappoint. First off, it's the only all-inclusive resort on the island, so you'll see a lot of diversity, and we loved that. Many different cultures, languages, and shades of people, and everyone we encountered was very nice - with the exception of one bartender that we will get into later. Food: The food was very good, and well seasoned, which is usually not the case at an all-inclusive. The Ocean Point side shares a buffet hall with the Family-friendly resort, so be prepared for that. Accommodations: We had a swim-out pool in our suite and it was a very nice touch. The water pressure was very strong, which we completely appreciated and enjoyed for hot showers after getting out of the cold pool water. The grounds are well-kept and beautiful and the scenery will give you all the pictures you would want. The only issue we experienced was a nonstop stream of mosquitoes in our room. Others had this complaint as well. Off-Resort: We ate on the Moho Beach Strip; Mr. Chow & Roma (review on those later). Everything is very local to the resort and within walking distance. There are shops and shopping nearby, however, we did not get a chance to venture off as much as we could have. One of the nice staff at the resort told us that the island could be completely covered in one hour and we will certainly try when we return.

Great property but management improvement needed

We had a wonderful experience, for the most part. The Food and Beverage team were amazing! Food was delicious in all the outlets. Dominique and Dawn made it truly spectacular with their attention to service and wonderful attitude. Our room service was perfect. ‘Smiley’ is a gem! He has a wonderful attitude, always fun and delivered impeccable service! But I am very disappointed in the lack of response from, Director of Rooms. I am retired from Royal Sonesta. I brought my Sonesta letter to verify, provided to me by a General Manager Upon check in the agent could not/or did not know how to apply the discount. So I simply asked for the DOR and was told Carmen was at the other building. So I asked them to have her contact me. Day one: no response. I went back to the front desk the next day……day 2: no response. Again on Day 3: no response. At this point my husband and I gave up looking for her and a response as we felt our concerns were going on deaf ears. I know Sonesta values the input from guests as that is how they learn to enhance other guest experiences and work on any challenges. But I am disappointed no one responded to me to assist. A great property but better training for the staff and responses from management so the guest feels valued and heard.

Save yourself the headache and discomfort

My experience at this resort was deeply disappointing, and I cannot see myself returning to St. Maarten or recommending it to others. Based on this stay, I will avoid all Sonesta resorts in the future. The staff was consistently unwelcoming, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere where guests felt as though they were walking on eggshells—never knowing whether they would be met with indifference or outright disrespect. It was clear that many employees lacked enthusiasm for their roles, which significantly impacted the overall hospitality. Whenever I needed assistance, I had to escalate concerns to a manager, as the front desk staff seemed unwilling to provide any meaningful resolution or service. Proper hospitality training is urgently needed. Upon checking into my room, I discovered severe water damage beneath the acrylic base, where mold had begun to grow. The flooring was visibly compromised, as stepping on it revealed a soft, squishy surface. It was clear the room had not been properly inspected prior to my arrival. After documenting the issue through photos and videos, I brought it to the attention of the front desk staff, only to be falsely told that the hotel was at full capacity. This was later contradicted by security, who disclosed that the resort was only at 40% capacity. As a result, I was forced to sleep in an unsanitary room until the manager addressed the issue the following day. While the manager ultimately resolved the problem, the poor first impression lingered, and ongoing instances of disregard and disrespect throughout my stay confirmed my decision to never return. Though I made the most of my time at the beach, it was the only enjoyable aspect of my stay.

Rooms were very clean and service was excellent! Angela and Thaimi were so warm and friendly! The resort was clean, the food was delicious and all you can eat buffets just made the experience even better. Ocean Point & Azul Restaurant

My wife and I, sister and brother-in-law spent a week relaxing and taking in the resort and all it had to offer. All-inclusive is the way to go and you are treated great with food, drinks and great staff!! Ocean Point is truly an upgrade with service and hospitality. One of the best was at Azul Restaurant, Jenneal provided personal service, engaged with us, witty humor, recommended both food & drinks. She was like family and enjoyed each other's company on multiple visits during the week. This young lady will be long remembered and can't wait to visit again!!
