Reservations issues all Jamica resorts
Can't review Secrets because i was never able to make a reservation. Part may be due to COVID but not all. Because we are handicapped we can not just be sold to put down a deposit first call. Spoke to one reservations person, did not receive call back. Spoke to another, was put on hold 20 min and disconnected. E-mailed (3) different reservations options...no reply. Tried to fax but fax line was a phone line. Called general reservations again..no call or mail return. Found holding company AMresorts and mailed VP of sales...no reply. Not a good first impression. We like Sandals but friends told us Secrets is on the same level but more reasonable priced. I guess we will never know.
Still in love with Secrets
My third time going to Secrets Saint James and it is still such a beautiful place even after three summers going there. Things I love :Rooms are large , clean and well stocked. The piña colada made with fresh pineapple and the patties and burgers, the fresh fruit cart every day, the jerk chicken cart how I love you . Jamaican breakfast is served every day at the buffet and even though they have reduced the selection it is always delicious. I used to be a big fan off the bacon that they serve at breakfast however it tasted different so it’s not my favourite anymore but I definitely love the breakfast at Secrets. The lobster night is definitely worth checking out. The Jerk lobster was amazing. The beach is so calm and refreshing. The club at Secrets is actually pretty good. I was there with my sister and I have never seen her dance so much in years so that was a pleasure. Secrets always has a ton of activities on at the main pool. My favourite is the aquafit and yoga which they run everyday. I don’t really have any cons but one thing I do notice every time is that the staff seems to look wary and I hope that they’re being treated well. I can’t complain because the staff is generally very respectful but I do notice there are a few outliers that may be a bit forward and get upset if you do not respond. I understand that the hotel wants to maintain a certain level of tranquillity but it is good to have something other than spa music on at the pool for at least two hours.
Jamaica has my heart
We had a fantastic time in Jamaica at Secrets Saint James resort. The staff was kind and generous with their time and smiles. Our friends stayed in the neighboring building, Secrets Wild Orchid. We enjoyed the quiet of ours as we recouped from having a 4 month old and the party atmosphere of theirs when we rested enough to party like a couple without kids.
Recently got back from Secrets St James in Montego Bay. Really awesome place, rooms were very clean, room service was excellent and the all the staff were extremely polite and very happy to help with anything you need. Desmond in particular really enhanced our vacation with his great personality and big smile. Great asset for the resort. Cant wait to return and see him again. Will definitely be back!
Great people, but property is tired.
We were here for two weeks at the beginning of the Corona virus, and the staff of the hotel were exceptionally warm and gracious, especially considering that they all knew they would soon be losing their jobs!l We were last here 9 years ago, and it's obvious that during that time, the property has become quite tired. The Spanish owners group really needs a major investment to bring this (otherwise lovely) property up to the standards expected in other Secrets resorts. LESECIA, the pool/towel attendant in the Preferred Club is one of the most gracious people you will ever meet! Awesome young lady who will excel in whatever guest-facing responsibility she is given. And Loraine, ever-present with a smile and comment (and Pinot Grigio, cold water and Red Stripe!) is a delight. Importantly, the hotel manager, Bernard Mazet, worked diligently to provide us with compensation for the inconvenience caused by the closings of sections of the hotel due to the Corona Virus. He's relatively new in this position, but very experienced and I think will do a great job turning this property around.
