Amazing Resort
The resort was beautiful. We were in PC Building 2, Demi and Manny were our butlers and they were so friendly and helpful. Always greeted us by name and made sure we had everything we needed. The food and drinks were great and service was amazing. Diago and Endy at the preferred club bar were both outstanding. Diago made wonderful drinks behind the bar and Endy was our server, she was there checking on us before our glasses were empty. Christopher and Akemy at the beach bar were a lot of fun and did their job amazingly. The buffet for breakfast was great with a lot of options, we had Hibran as our waiter for a couple days and he was very attentive and so nice. Our whole experience was outstanding. We will be back

Great expectations, unhappy realities...
Where to start.... I will write a brief review at the top here, and more info below if you choose to learn more about our experience. My husband and I decided to go all out and reserve a beautiful honeymoon for our vacation away after our wedding. We wanted something all inclusive and our travel agent told us about this place. The new Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres resort. It looked perfect so we decided to splurge. Overall, it was a nice honeymoon and we had fun! Was it worth the money? I don't think so. The facilities, food and staff were the best things, but there were a couple of things that left a bad taste in our mouths and it really put a damper on our trip. Facilities and Rooms: Top notch, really beautiful! (we booked a swim out oceanfront, but I wouldn't call it oceanfront- can barely see the ocean over the huge hedges- see pic attached) Location: Far from the airport (45 min- maybe more with traffic through Cancun), in safe area Cleanliness: Very clean! The cleaning staff and all staff really, were great! Food: Excellent food- everything was really delicious! Beach: Beautiful, BUT we went during high sargassum (seaweed) period- kind of annoying to walk on the beach and swim with. Ocean: Most days was red flag- we could wade into the ocean and enjoy some of the waves, but really very windy most of the time. Water Sports: Non existent. So sad! We were told by staff that the company that is in charge of the water sports stopped showing up, and it had been 2 months already. I really wanted to go for a kayak paddle or some kind of water sports adventure (not even snorkeling was available, and they gave no other opportunities for this). Construction: Right next door, they are building another hotel and we were placed right next to the construction. It wasn't too horrible, but every once in a while you'd hear saws and hammering, which was not pleasant. Butlers: very nice but somewhat not useful (they can't book chairs for you, and can't make reservations at the restaurants). Even though our butlers were so nice, they really didn't add much, because they couldn't. They had limitations. There were really 2 things that made our honeymoon unpleasant: 1- the "presentation" at the beginning of the trip: Once you get into the hotel, the "VIP services" people tell you there will be a one hour tour of the hotel with their staff. It is not mandatory, and you are not required to buy anything, but oh boy, did they ever try and push you to do so. DO NOT GIVE IN! They market this as a membership, but it is the equivalent of a timeshare (back in the day). Our presenter was pushy and kept us there for over 3 hours, completely unacceptable. I felt like the rest of my time there was ruined by this experience. 2- the excursion to Tulum: IT IS FAR! Just note that if you are planning on going to Tulum, it is a full day experience. I was ready for a long drive, but this was intense. The ruins were beautiful, the cenote was the best part of the day, and the snorkeling was great. The tour guide was not very friendly or energetic. 3- Our airport transfer back from the hotel to the airport: This is probably the WORST thing that happened to us. AIR TRANSAT is the company that was supposed to pick us up and they didn't! We were there a good 10 minutes before departure and were waiting patiently. No one ever called our names, so we had to take a taxi drive to the airport and pay out of pocket! I was so so so so mad at this. So upset! Luckily, we made our flight, but after months of going back and forth, air transat never refunded us and claimed to have been there to pick us up. Untrue. Please, don't book with air transat ever again. I will not be. And the hotel was no help during this situation! They kept saying that we have to contact our travel agent. All I wanted was proof from the hotel that air transat was there, and in their files, if they could send me proof that we were there before departure. The hotel was not helpful at all. I am so upset and will not be booking with air transat or HYATT again over this! OVERALL, I would say, if you are interested in this place, my recommendation would be to learn from our mistakes- don't do the presentation and go on close excursions or just stay at the hotel. Don't go for the fancier rooms, it's almost not worth the money. Good luck!

Brilliant Hotel Brilliant Staff !
From the moment we stepped out of the taxi and were greeted with scented cold towels and chilled champagne, we knew we were going to enjoy this holiday! Well that is an understatement…. This hotel is absolutely stunning. We stayed for 10 nights in a preferred ocean view suite in block 3 which was furnished to a very high standard and had a lovely view of the ocean. The room was kept immaculate by our cleaner Fanny. We always had plenty of clean towels morning and night and the mini bar was stocked daily. The evening turn down was also very efficient and any wet towels were removed and chocolates left on our pillows! We enjoyed every single meal every single day, which is slightly unusual for an all inclusive! But this hotel has very highly trained staff (more specifically see below) who ensure that you are never left waiting for more than a minute before drinks are offered. Every restaurant has an elegant feel and you know you will always be in capable hands! The food is really top notch always beautifully presented and no long waiting times! I think if we were pressed to say our favourite restaurant then it would probably have to be the Portofino! Exceptional rack of lamb! However there were many staff who made our trip memorable: ⭐️ firstly our butlers Eddy and Rafa were superb, always staying in touch daily, via WhatsApp or a personal visit and answering any requests promptly and with the utmost professionalism. When it was my husband’s birthday they decorated the room with balloons and a banner! Thank you so much! We will always remember your kindness! ⭐️ Andres - outstanding server in Portofino who incredibly remembered the football team we follow on our second visit there! Also the brilliant chefs Viktor and Louis who even came to meet us at the end of the meal! ⭐️ great service from Oscar and Roberto at the Seaside Grill ⭐️ Ana at breakfast in the Market Cafe was exceptional. Refolded our napkins and placed them over our coffees whilst we were choosing! ⭐️Viktor the preferred beach concierge who has the most incredible customer service skills and rapport with guests. Cleaned our glasses daily and even mended my husband’s broken ones! ⭐️Elias and Carlos preferred pool concierge also superb interaction ⭐️ Danyala lovely server in the evenings at the Rendezvous This hotel is certainly one of the best hotels we have stayed in in the Caribbean - our 16th trip!!! Everything surpassed our expectations in every aspect! Choose it and you won’t be disappointed! Well done Secrets Playa Blanca for making our trip such an enjoyable and memorable one! 🇲🇽❤️

A must visit!!!!
We love this resort! My husband and I have now been to this resort twice and love it. If you are looking for a high-end experience, go the preferred route and take advantage of the service and amenities! However if you’re trying to save money you won’t be disappointed in the non-preferred areas. The food is amazing and I’m a very picky private chef. Of course some dishes are better than others but we were impressed for an all inclusive resort! The resort is large too so you don’t ever feel like it’s too crowded.
