Beautiful resort and outstanding staff!
Secrets Playa Blanca is an outstanding resort North of Cancun. We highly recommend visiting and enjoying this beautiful resort and the wonderful people who take great care of their guests. The resort buildings, grounds and beach are new and well taken care of. All of the restaurants and rooms are works of art. Our butlers, Manuel and Ana provided exceptional service with a smile and quick response. Every morning they checked in with us asking if there was anything we needed or wanted to do. First Class! We enjoyed the various restaurants. The food was outstanding. We highly recommend adding the Preferred service to your trip! Many great benefits. The staff is awesome. All are very friendly and enjoy providing excellent service. Ask for Eduardo, a great server on the beach and sometimes around the pools. Also, at the Seaside Grill, ask for Luis. A very energetic and friendly server. We enjoyed having breakfast with him each day. Our stay at this resort was one of the best we have been on in a long time. We had a great time and enjoyed all of the amenities. Thank you to the great staff who made our trip so much fun!

5 nights, 8 friends
Recently visited in April for a friend trip and we had a fantastic time. The resort is amazing. Highly recommend arriving in the evening, but not after dark - the view is immaculate. Our concierge Manny went out of his way to introduce himself and make sure we were taken care of each day, a couple of times a day. The swim up room was phenomenal, from the bed and pillows that cradled us every night to convenient step-in pool. We spent most of our time at the social pool, where Anthony, Ivan and the Miguels were very attentive, quick, and hospitable. Santiago on the entertainment team made all of us the coolest poolside bracelets to remember. Be sure to indulge in some poolside nachos! Dinner at the French restaurant, Bordeaux, was fantastic *Chef’s kiss*. Don’t get me wrong though, the room service breakfast croissant sandwich and hot dogs are nothing to pass up. Rendezvous was the perfect meetup spot (no pun intended) for small groups to regroup before/after dinner. Loved the Mexico show and the nightclub Desire. But the highlight of the entertainment was a tie between the silent disco and karaoke. It brought everyone together and you just couldn’t help but have fun. I miss that place already and can’t wait to go again!

3rd trip was a charm!
Here to share a few amazing workers and some tid bits we’ve learned after three stays since opening…long read but maybe worth it in the end…or maybe not 😱 1. Is preferred worth it? In our opinion yes, BUT definitely at this resort. We aren’t buffet people so the seaside breakfast is amazing. We had the same server every day (per our request) and he knew our favorites without ordering. Try the green juice mimosa for those of you that don’t like orange juice. Also my wife loves a spicy Bloody Mary so search devil daves on amazon. She added them every morning. (Packet for the carry on game patrons). The separate bar/pool/beach area are awesome too. The loungers have thicker cushions. While they don’t have all the “fun” activities, they do have more chill events like musical performers etc. The preferred bar has awesome bartenders that will craft you drinks. And theres’s hand squeezed grapefruit juice for breakfast that is just different than that served elsewhere. 2. Bali beds are worth it. There’s a strong chair game at the preferred pool, beach, infinity/swim up pool, and jungle pool. But not the social pool surprising. We did beach Bali beds three times (22, 23 and 33) and jungle pool (4). 22 and 23 are front row and 33 is second row with a straight shot in between the front row. Jungle pool 4 was next to the bar which was good for shade/sun and close to the bathroom. It was just a different level of calm knowing you didn’t have to worry about a chair. 3. If you do the craft activities get there early…the seats fill fast- hat painting and alebrijes. 4. Restaurants- we went for sushi every night then picked our restaurant. The sushi chefs learn what you like (aka tuna sashimi) and make special dishes after a few days. The portions can be small so don’t feel bad if you want to try multiple things. And if there’s a side you want from one dish you can ask for it (example is yes at Portofino the lobster ravioli is like two pieces so get the side of mushroom risotto- your liver needs it). 5. Spa- do it! Is it pricey, yes…but sometimes you can negotiate. Preferred/members get special deals so ask. Hydrotherapy- even if that’s all you do, it’s worth it and know that you can spend as long as you want there. After the “guided” portion you can go back to the previous areas or hit the different massage jets in that pool…or even lounge on a chair in the sun/shade and take a break from all the things. 6. Floats and cups- we got asked a lot about it when we were there…Yes, we take cups with straws. Mainly because it’s hot and we like cold drinks. But we aren’t the sugary drinks people. We stick to vodka soda and add hydration cubes of different flavors (not drops so we can carryon). The straws are paper and you have to ask so keep that in mind. Floats-we love to walk down the beach and then float back in the ocean so they are amazing if you like to do that. There are always people leaving them so if you ask the pool concierge they may give you one. Same with sunscreen if you run out… 7. The cold washcloths or Evian face spray by the preferred pool are life changing in the afternoon. 8. Butlers… I’m weird about having one, but I don’t consider myself that kind of bougie. That being said, we’ve had incredible ones there. On one trip, our friend had a medical emergency and she texted me to say she picked up our things from the pool and put them in our room. WHAT?!?! It was so nice during a very stressful time. On this most recent stay, Martin & Rafa took amazing care of us! We were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and they made it perfect! 🥂 9. Windy- sure can be. Welcome to the planet. There have been several days where they don’t have umbrellas out (understandable) but there are always shade spots. That being said…pools can also be cold surprisingly, the social pool was the warmest (it’s blocked by the wind somewhat and doesnt have the swim up pool pee warmth). 🤣 10. Tipping- how could i forget that?!? Yes we tip everyone- and I mean everyone. They work so hard, why wouldn’t we. $2 bills are supposedly considered lucky so we take those, but even two dollar bills make a difference. We tip the hostesses, the servers everywhere, the pool concierge, room attendants, room service, room pick up service, the people cleaning the pool, tending to the grounds, raking the sargassum (if its even there)…every one. They light up in a different way. 11. Sunrise- worth it. Get up and go down by first light for the full experience. Also, run up to the lobby for a different version of the view. Ok, I know that’s a lot…but I’m happy to answer questions…especially for the carryon game (not being too confident but we mastered eight nights with only carryons). Safe and fun travels everyone! May you have the amazing experiences we have had there.

Armando is the best!
Armando was INCREDIBLE!! We didn't know what to expect as we have never visited a spa before. He provided a calm, relaxing atmosphere with just the right amount of fun. Our spa treatment was the highlight of a fabulous trip! The next time I'll purchase the week long access package.

Excellent - except for the towel game
We loved the hotel, probably the best Secrets we have stayed at, with Maroma a close second. We were in a swim out which was stunning. Everything about the room was great, no complaints. We did have a group party in the attached swim out a couple doors over, so you can hear other people, but for the most part the resort is quiet. The restaurants are fantastic - absolutely zero complaints about food and drinks. Drinks at the preferred club were slightly better but honestly, the jungle pool bar was really good as well. It was really windy when we were there so we didn't use the beach - but took a walk down and it is spacious and pretty. The fire pits around the property are a great feature. The biggest complaint I have is about how hard it is to get a lounger. And the fact that staff in the preferred club area were saving chairs for guests who had tipped in advance and were saving some chairs in advance of hoping for a tip. I think this is a shady practice, especially at the price point of this hotel. So get up early if you want a chair. We did find the jungle pool super relaxing, although not heated so it is cold in winter months. The preferred club definitely warmer. Our swim out was warm. We typically don't uber in this area of Mexico, but we were leaving to go to Cancun for a few nights and uber was $24 USD and driver was great. It took a little bit to get to the Secrets but he was able to drive in to pick us up and zero issues.
