Honeymoon
The staff was amazing specially Alonso at the Sugar Reef Bar, the drivers around the property were amazing as well. Using Amstar for excursions was phenomenal. Overall a very great experience

Secrets-Costa Rica
definitely not the best experience, food wasn’t good, my ocean view was a side view, no activities and I paid $200 for a spa just to have an unlicensed massage tech to rum lotion on my back, 3:10, wouldn’t recommend.

Honeymoon
My husband and I went here for our honeymoon. We really enjoyed our stay. We ran into some trouble with our airline with some weather delays and ended up checked in a day later than expected, the resort was able to get us checked in the next day and was very helpful. Douglas was our main concierge during check in and was very kind and helpful in getting us settled. The weather ended up being really good for our stay considering it is rainy season, there was some rain in the evenings and one of the days for about an hour during the day, it did not impact us being able to do everything we wanted to, honestly it was a bit refreshing and cooled us off (we’re from Ohio so was a bit warm and humid to us). We enjoyed the option for some on resort free experiences, including Kayaking and snorkeling, this was really easily reserved at the activities center and Gio was a very fun Kayak guide. All of the staff were very kind and attentive! We enjoyed the food and drink options. The mixed drinks from the bars were well made and delicious. The restaurant options were good, we tried out Sea side grill, Himitsu, Portofino, and Market Café. The hibachi show was amazing, Catalina was our chef and she was so sweet and you can tell she really loves her job! Other than the hibachi, Market Café was our favorite, the buffet options were varied enough without being overwhelming and the food was delicious as well as the restaurant was air conditioned and just convenient overall. We also really enjoyed Coco Café, the baristas did a great job and were super friendly and it was really nice to have an option for a little to go treat to enjoy elsewhere. We ended up getting some iced coffee and enjoying the scenery in the morning. We got a couple’s massage on our last day and the masseuses were very good, we left feeling very relaxed. Our room was very close to the main pool and restaurant area this meant that everything besides the spa was only a few minutes of a walk away but we could hear the evening entertainment (including karaoke) in our room. This did not bother us as we wore ourselves out enough during the day we were able to fall right asleep but might be a problem for anyone that can’t sleep with background noise going on. We were told by other guests that closer to the spa side of the resort they couldn’t hear the evening entertainment but they had to walk more or request a shuttle to get over to the restaurants. Overall we had a great experience and are so glad we chose to have our honeymoon here!

Not a Resort Person, But Impressed
I’m not typically a resort person, but I stayed at Secrets for my sister’s wedding and was genuinely impressed. The staff greeted us with warm smiles, demonstrated strong knowledge, and were consistently willing to assist with every need and request. The resort’s location also made it easy to access a variety of tours. My only minor disappointment was the lack of truly authentic local cuisine, but overall I left very satisfied with the experience.

The Beauty of Costa Rica is definitely captured at this resort
Secrets Papaygo was an amazing place, when we first arrived we didn't love the layout as it's very spaced out and we had 20+ rooms for a wedding that were throughout the resort property. However, it definitely grew on us and we didn't want to leave. If you are a UVC member the staff and support is top notch. Be prepared to possibly have to wait for transportation if your room is located farther away and just plan accordingly if you make dinner reservations or an appointment or wedding. However, the beautiful layout of the resort is amazing and the hiking areas are beautiful.
