  Staff is great, tours excellent, food mediocre. Hyatt needs to put some effort into buildng maintenance

  Even though the maintenance of this place is lacking, it is clean and comfortable. The beds, pillows, bathrooms, bars, and pools are very clean. The place needs a paint job and repairs where there were still sings of flooding along the walls inside the rooms as well a the communal areas. The food in the wide variety of the restaurants were mediocre at best. I cannot say enough good things about the staff, they are wonderful! The best food was the pastries and coffees at Coco. The tours they recommended were excellent. The bartenders were wonderful and made delightful drinks. The hotel is very green. I was impressed that they did not serve drinks with straws or single use plastic cups. They even removed the plastic rings on the plastic water bottles before they tossed them into the recycling bins.

  Fantastic staff, decent facility, below average food and drink.

  First off, the staff at this place is exceptional. Friendly, helpful, attentive, 11 out of 10. The resort itself is nice, a bit run down but nothing that bothered us. Our main issue with this place was the quality of the food and drink. The beer selection is terrible, the wines are plonk, the food ranges from almost decent to inedible. Mixed drinks and cocktails were fine. We found ourselves going into La Crucecita for decent meals. If you're not a foodie you might be happy with the offerings, but paying for included food and leaving the resort often to eat isn't necessarily a good deal.

  Pure magic

  Magical place. Surreal views, authentic people, unique nature. Castaways restaurant and SPA have the best panoramic views I have ever seen at Secrets.

  Staff was friendly and attentive. Daniel at Market Cafe is amazing. Goes out of his way to make you feel welcomed.

  First time at this Resort. Everyone was attentive and ready to help out. Loved the view,atmosphere and the location. We will be coming back again.

  Amazing Staff Made the Trip — Management Needs to Catch Up

  I stayed a week at Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa, and this was honestly one of the most enjoyable vacations I’ve had in a long time. The main reason is the people who work here. Antonio, our archery instructor and chess sparring partner, went out of his way to make our stay fun and memorable. He really set the bar high. I also want to highlight Lucero, Yael, Jimena, Adriana, Karen, Fredi, Etiel, and Katerina, the yoga instructor. Every single one of them went above and beyond, and it’s because of their effort that this trip stood out. That being said, I do want to be honest about something that brought the experience down a notch. The hotel has several restaurants, but most of them were rarely open. At Oceana, for example, the restaurant was only half full, yet we were put on a waiting list for about 30 minutes. By the time I was able to order, the dish I wanted wasn’t available anymore. To be clear, this was not the fault of the staff — their service and attention were excellent throughout — this comes down to how the restaurants are being managed. And this is important: I don’t want management to see this review and push the staff harder to “make it work.” They are already doing everything they can and deserve recognition, not more pressure. What needs attention is staffing and planning. If restaurants can’t be run at full capacity during low season, then management should acknowledge that and fix it, not let guests feel it as a shortage. I really hope management takes this to heart. The staff here are incredible and they are the reason guests leave with such positive experiences. Appreciate them, and support them with better staffing and restaurant availability. Do that, and this place could easily deliver a flawless stay.
