Just okay, some deceptive practices.
Upon check in, I was excited that the staff was attentive and provided us a welcome beverage. A sip of champagne plus a beverage of our choice. The experience quickly shifted once we were handed our keys and handed off to an attendant who we thought was going to go over the property map. Instead, we received a pushy sales pitch for the vacation club which left a sour taste in my mouth as it felt deceptive and that we weren’t allowed to go to our room. It didn’t set a positive tone for my overall experience. There were also some things that felt deceptive as several of our drinks were served without liquor, served with well liquors instead of what was requested or quickly “running out” after being served our desired liquor. We also paid for the adults only resort only to find there was no real divider between the family hotel, Dreams and Secrets. There were a couple adults only sections, but the divider felt quite arbitrary. The food I’d give a 3/5. It was fine. Nothing ever really felt hot. The best food were the tacos de pastor in Tacoyotl (those were delish). Our room was nice, but unlike other people in our group who stayed at the hotel, our room was not stocked nor was it ever stocked with snacks. So some inconsistencies there. The pools and the beach were nice. Those were the best part of this resort. While the overall experience was just okay, there were a few members of the staff who provided excellent service that I wanted to give a shoutout to: Augustin & David at Portofinos, Mariam who lead bingo at the pool, and Lucia who attended our rooms with the utmost care. Overall, our visit was fine, but I am unsure we’d return.

good but not the best. Though we would return!
Secrets Bahia mita When: December. Weather was incredible. Not windy. Mid 80s during the day and no need for jacket at night. Hardly any bugs, though did get 2 mosquito bites when eating outside at dinner time. Saw many whales in the ocean! Transport: from PVR- walk across the pedestrian bridge and call an uber. 40 minute drive and $30 USD. Uses a taxi from the hotel (they’re available 24/7) and it cost $50 USD, or call an uber and it will also be about $30. It’s not difficult to get an Uber from the hotel. Room: booked using Hyatt points and used a club access award which gave us preferred benefits with a standard room. Preferred benefits: hydrotherapy is NOT free despite preferred benefits. We were told we got 20% off spa services but they’re too pricy even with the discount. Preferred also gives access to the 8th floor sky bar and infinity pool. This is the only bar with real fruit for drinks which is probably the biggest perk for me, because I really hate the taste of their artificial sugar here (and at all secrets. They all taste gross). Beyond that, no real other perks from preferred. I’m not convinced it’s worth the price. They need to make a restaurant that is preferred-only for breakfast because there is only coco cafe (24h grab and go), room service, and the breakfast buffet. Food: Breakfast- again the buffet was fine. Good not great. It is a little chaotic in there but service is really good (shout out to Andres). we didn’t try room service or coco cafe. We have stayed at 3 other secrets resorts and preferred guests have their own breakfast location. Considering this hotel has 13 restaurants, I don’t quite understand why there is no breakfast restaurant specifically for preferred guests. I prefer à la carte vs buffet. Lunch- again, fairly limited options. Seaside lunch was rather overwhelming. Blue grill was decent. One of the ceviches was quite fishy but the scallops and tuna tartare was the freshest raw fish we had during our stay. Taco spot was also just okay. (We are from LA and get great tacos). Goyan sushi bar really didn’t have fresh sushi, though I would say consistently throughout the resort the sushi was was quite poor. Really low quality sushi. Even at the preferred sky bar lunch. I’m pretty disappointed by the lunch options. Olio has a lot of potential with how gorgeous the restaurant is, but the food is lacking. Of all the secrets resorts we’ve been to. We were really missing a good shrimp and or fish taco and the calamari normally served by the barefoot grill. Dinner- surprisingly the best meals we had were on the dreams properties. We are not huge fans of Italian food but after reading great reviews about nebbiolo, we decided to give it a try even though we only had a 3 night stay. We were pleasantly surprised, especially since we don’t eat much Italian food. It came out piping hot with great flavors. At the end of the dinner chef Jesus came out to introduce himself, which was really special. He also set up a really special dinner for us the following night and made reservations for us at Seaside where he said he recommended for us to eat. He was right. Per the request of chef Jesus, Seaside provided us special entrées that were not on the menu and chef Manzano and Luis were incredible to us. Even the dishes on the menu were top notch. We would highly recommend the corn empanadas and all their seafood dishes. It was really delicious. Surprisingly their crème brûlée was also excellent and much better than the one at Bordeaux. Though Bordeaux was also very good. We have been to several secrets and none of them offered scallop dishes, but Bordeaux did and I love scallops. They also had a really incredible asparagus soup. Blue water grill also had a very nice cauliflower soup. Pools- I would say that the chair game was not bad at this resort. The other resorts were much worse, and if you didn’t get out at the crack of dawn, it was unlikely you would get a seat. We didn’t find that to be the case here, though the hotel overall didn’t seem very busy so that also may have been the reason. We particularly enjoyed the swim up bar, which had really fun music and a really nice view. The pool at the sky bar was much more relaxed, but definitely had the best drinks. One thing that I really appreciated with that the pools were all heated, which was not the case for several secrets that we have been to in December. Noise: something that we did not experience our other secrets was the incredibly loud music coming from several weddings. We were in building 1, 4th floor close to the secrets lobby and there were several nights with very loud music until 11 PM. Thank goodness that we weren’t trying to sleep, bc there’s no way that anyone could sleep with that music and fireworks. We are considering coming back with our children and parents, but we’re not sure if the others would be able to enjoy this resort with the level of music that they were playing. I guess it’s good or bad luck based on what weddings they are hosting that week and where the wedding is located. Rooms: no slippers provided, I had to request them. The shower door also opens into the shower and bangs against the waterfall shower head. We were concerned we would break the glass. Very weird layout lol. Navigating the several elevators to get to different parts of the hotel were incredibly confusing and we didn’t get it down even after 3 nights. Entertainment: we saw the fire show which was decently entertaining, the carnival Latin show, which was pretty much just dancing for 45 minutes and rather boring, and then we enjoyed the rock live music in the lobby. I really wish that there was nightly live music like they have at Playa Blanca. The sports bar and speakeasy were quite busy at night so if you’re looking for clubbing and dancing, then it was rather busy, but that also could be because there were several weddings going on the weekend we were here. Otherwise rather dead at night anywhere else. Beach: the beach is quite rocky and not that swimmable. The ocean water was quite cold in December and definitely not as swimmable as the Cancun area. What was incredible though was the views of the ocean with the mountains. And the jungle surrounding you. It’s whale season so we saw multiple whales too, which was magical. Service- really great service at the sky bar, breakfast buffet on secrets side, Bordeaux, and seaside. We didn’t get any engagement with the entertainment staff which was unusual. Didn’t see many activities going on and they didn’t ask for guest engagement like other secret resorts do. Since it was a short trip all we wanted to do was relax. Highlights: ocean/Mountain Views, resort is new, service is good, dinner is good, pools are heated, December had great weather with minimal wind or bugs. Lows: breakfast/lunch options underwhelming, noise in the rooms from events, elevators are confusing and far walks from one end of the resort to the other, beach is rocky Overall we would return but would request a room far from where they host events.

Bahia “Musta” stay here!
Fantastic all inclusive resort in the beautiful Punta Mita are. The weather was sunny and warm every day, the resort is beautiful (but it takes a little getting used to have to navigate around certain parts), the food is very good, the hotel is clean and safe, the Bar-b-cue and the Mexican themed dinners in the courtyard plaza are fun. Preferred is the way to go, and the 8th floor pool deck has such amazing views of the ocean. We were watching whales spout and surface every day! Bordeaux, Bluewater Grill, and Nebbiolo (at Dreams) all were awesome.
