  Incredible butler, underwhelming “Diamond Club,” and a few big letdowns

  We stayed at Royalton CHIC Cancun, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort – Adults Only in the Diamond Club section. I wish I could review our butler separately from the resort, because the gap between the service we got from her and everything else was huge. The good Our butler Samara was an absolute shining diamond. She was kind, attentive, proactive, and made us feel genuinely welcome and cared for. Any time there was an issue, she stepped up and fought for us. If this review were just about her, this would be 5 stars without hesitation. The property itself is clean and visually nice. During the day, the noise level was comfortable – you could actually relax, enjoy the pool, and have a conversation without shouting. The not-so-good (especially for Diamond Club) We paid extra for Diamond Club, and honestly, it did not feel worth the money. The “exclusive” Diamond Club bar is tiny, hard to get into, and usually full. It closes early, and after that there’s basically one bar for the whole resort, and getting a drink there means pushing through crowds. Not exactly relaxing for an adults-only, higher-priced stay. We were told we had priority booking for restaurants and services, but every time we tried to reserve anything, we were told it was “full.” Then we walked over to the Chinese restaurant and the spa, and they took us right in and said they had lots of room. So either the system is broken, or “priority” is just a buzzword. The resort also kept pestering us to sit through a sales pitch and warning us not to book excursions with Sunwing. It started to feel less like a vacation and more like we were being funneled into their sales funnel. Atmosphere: loud nights and overdone aromatics At night, the music was painfully loud – not just “fun party energy,” but deafening to the point where it kills any chance of a calm evening vibe. If you’re hoping for quiet nights or a romantic atmosphere, this is something to be aware of. On top of that, they go very heavy on the aromatics around the resort. It looks clean and upscale, but the scent in some areas is strong enough to be noticeable in a bad way. If you’re sensitive to smells, that’s going to be a problem. Birthday disappointment This trip was for my wife’s birthday, and I made sure the hotel knew that. At one point, we saw a few rose petals outside our door, so it looked like something special had been set up inside for her. We opened the door… and nothing. Just a normal room. She went from excited to disappointed instantly. It’s a small detail, but when you’re paying this much for a special occasion, that kind of thing matters. When I raised these issues, Samara did everything she could on our behalf. But the hotel itself did nothing meaningful with the feedback. No gesture, no fix, not even a proper apology. I ended up having to find my own excursion just to get my wife off the property to enjoy her birthday, because everything on-site felt like a hassle. “Exclusive” Chef’s Table I also booked what was sold to us as an exclusive Chef’s Table dinner for just the two of us. In reality, it turned into a shared group table. I guess four high-priced dinners are better than two. Not at all the private, premium experience that was implied. Bottom line Samara (our butler): 10/10. Location and locals: great. Resort value for what we paid, especially Diamond Club: missed the mark. If you’re going mainly for the party atmosphere and don’t mind loud music at night, crowds at the bar, and aggressive upselling, you might have a different experience. But for a special occasion, at this price point, we expected much better.

  Great Hotel, Excellent Service

  The hotel was beautiful and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful! Our butler for the week was Gilbert and he did a phenomenal job attending to anything and everything we asked for! Carlos out by the pool was excellent as well. He saved chairs for us by the beach every morning & we had the perfect spot to catch some rays & enjoy the ocean view! The food was great at all the restaurants and there was some sort of entertainment event available each night. Diamond Club is definitely worth the extra $$! Would definitely stay here again!

  Carlos the pool guy was amazing! So helpful and friendly! The beach was amazing the the staff was great! Definetly will be back!

  Decent Girls Trip location

  Stayed here for 5 days in December. Upgraded to Diamond Club for the experience. Check in at the Diamond Club was ok - had issues with our reservation due to arriving one day late due to flight cancellations. Do I feel DC was worth the money - not really, except for the heated pool. Resort location was great - quick drive from the airport. Beach was super clean and beautiful. Waves and ocean was spectacular as well. Diamond club beach area is small - once the sun goes behind the trees, you can't move the chair down the beach a bit - management will come out and ask for it to be moved back due to the beach being public. Hugo & Sergio were great at the DC pool - this pool was very warm as well. The regular swim up pool ran out of water several times through out the day and the water was a bit cooler, but nothing major. Diamond Club lounge is very small but the wait staff was wonderful. The atmosphere was primarily party - but the night entertainment was very mild and not exciting. Buffet always had good food, sports club did not. Asian Chopsticks was decent but the Italian was AMAZING and so was the service from David. The Seafood restaurant was just OK but I would not pay for it if it wasn't for Diamond Club. Not worth the money. Our Butlers Diego and Louis were FANTASTIC as well. Beds were decently comfy, room was clean and replenished daily with towels etc. Downfall is this seemed to be an upsell resort. Walking through the lobby, I was approached multiple times a day by the same people and different people about timeshare and spa. Always trying to sell. Another downfall is miss communication - Due to our cancelled flights and arriving a day late we asked to extend our time - which we were told they could not help - it had to be booked online. Once that was accomplished the ask of keeping our same room location being we paid for that category and was advised we needed management approval. this went on for a couple days. Just an inconvenience to stop the daily activity to ask the same question over and over - being delayed by a couple hours etc. TIP - Sunscreen is cheaper at the outdoor mart at the airport. Bring straws as this resort does not have them. Bring a water bottle to refill

  Beautiful getaway

  The hotel is pretty good. Everything was so perfect. Marisol and Arturo (our butlers) made everything so easy. The food was very good, services was excellent. The hotel location is also perfect, everything is walkable distance. I recommend the hotel.
