Nov 14, 2025Lovely Views, Several Letdowns
I’ll start with the positives: the resort’s location is incredible, and the pool and beach areas are truly beautiful. The staff was friendly, fun, and made great drinks. However, there were several issues that made the experience disappointing. Upon arrival, we were told our reservation was only for one person per room and they attempted to double-charge us, despite my Booking.com confirmation clearly showing two people per room (four total). When we got to our room, the phone and fridge didn’t work. We notified the concierge, who came up, confirmed the issue, and said someone would be sent to fix it—no one ever came. We’re easygoing, so we didn’t continue to follow up, but it was still frustrating. You’re required to make reservations for every dinner, yet when we arrived, almost everything was already booked. We managed to get a few late reservations, but once we arrived at one restaurant the guys were told they couldn’t wear shorts—even though they had dress shirts and closed-toe shoes. We understood the rule, but it would have been helpful to know in advance. The biggest disappointment was the food. We’re from San Diego and absolutely love Mexican cuisine, so the blandness was surprising and honestly pretty disheartening. Overall, the resort has beautiful grounds, but the strict rules, lack of responsiveness to room issues, food quality, and attempted double-charge made this feel far from a true “5-star” experience. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t return.

Ive made a dozen trips to Royal Hideaway, Its as Good as it ever has been. Staff , Entertainment, Food, Drinks, it's all top notch. Javier at the Pool kept our drinks full. Sucel or Concierge was amazing treated us as if we the only ones there. we'll be back

Honeymoon
This truly was a pleasant surprise! Nice quiet resort, very clean and maintained, located perfectly on the best beach. The food was excellent no matter where we ate and the staff was fantastic and friendly. Would most definitely stay again in the future.

Enjoyed our stay. Small resort which is what we liked. Older crowd, no loud parties which was great. The rooms could use some updates a bit but large and comfortable. Lots of pool chairs but you do need to there by 8-830 because they all get reserved. Loved lunch at the pool option!

Nov 13, 2025Beautiful Place, but eat somewhere else
This is my second year at Royal Hideaway. The property is beautiful, service is great (bartenders, not restaurant time), and the hotel is quiet and upscale. However, the food was very bad this year. My husband and I got sick on the last day, and my husband was sick a day after he came home. Some of the food was indescribable. We had no idea what we were eating. Bad. just bad. I never want to see black sauce on my food again!!!
