Still great!
Pleasant and friendly staff! Resort lovely. Small Enough to navigate around easily. Buffet delish and has something for everyone! This resort also has top shelf liquors included at bars. Beautiful ocean view from all rooms. Relaxed at pool and ocean. Water a beautiful aqua. Entertainment was good as well and activity staff friendly.

HORRENDOUS – NOT A 5-STAR HOTEL – AVOID! Don’t Waste Your Hard-Earned Savings!
NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL - NOTHING LIKE – AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE On arrival, we were greeted at reception by buckets catching water from a leaking ceiling a somewhat damp welcome that was, unfortunately, a theme throughout our stay. Our room on the 6th floor, for which we had specifically paid extra for a sea view, was a disappointment. If that was a “sea view,” then I may need a geography lesson, it was more of a polite nod to the ocean than an actual view. The room itself was dark, dingy, and decorated in a shade of brown that could only be described as “gloomy chic.” The bedding and curtains were so out-of-date it was hard to determine which century we were in. The floor felt damp most of the time, and the balcony was too small for two people to sit comfortably. Looking down, the roof of an adjoining building covered in rubbish provided a view I certainly did not pay extra for. Parts of the metal railing were missing or rusted, leaving us wondering if we were risking a daring tightrope act just to get some fresh air. After unpacking, I admittedly burst into tears, frantically trying to find an alternative hotel. The manager offered a front sea view room for an additional $450 three nights later, which felt more like a ransom than a solution. Hallways were frequently cluttered with laundry baskets, giving the hotel a touch of “laundry chic” that I’m sure was unintentional. The pool area did little to improve matters: the paving looked like an old car park, sun loungers were discoloured and tired, and loud music blared continuously, making relaxation impossible. The small sea-front shower barely worked, with peeling paint and mould, not exactly the spa-like experience one might expect. Returning to our room for peace and quiet offered little relief. The air conditioning did not warm the space, and at one point, we woke to pools of water on the floor a truly hazardous wake-up call. By the time we were ready to go for dinner, we were so exhausted as our bodies were fighting to stay warm in the cold room, we felt ready to retire after just one hour. Great tactic for all-inclusive members, yes? After three nights, we were moved to the ocean front view room. While larger and closer to what we had originally booked, it was still cold and somewhat gloomy, though at least more spacious. All in all, this hotel did not meet the standards of a five-star property. During our stay, we visited several other hotels on the island with five-star ratings, all of which were bright, clean, and welcoming proving that five-star quality does not have to be a distant dream. Overall, the hotel felt old, tatty, and in urgent need of a full refurbishment. It was dull and dingy, far from the vibrant, welcoming environment you expect while on holiday. At the end of our stay in the Bahamas, we spent four nights at the Sandals Resort. The contrast was remarkable ,night and day , yet the cost was similar.

Holiday
We stayed at the RIU Palace, Paradise Island, Bahamas for four nights. Looking at the reviews before we arrived, we didn’t quite know what to expect because some of the reviews were terrible and some were good . This is our review - on arrival we were greeted very pleasantly and they told us our room was ready, we didn’t receive a welcome drink. The room was quite spacious and had a small balcony with westerly sea view overlooking the pool. The mini bar was stocked and to our surprise we had drink dispensers with four bottles of alcohol with optics. The room is very dated could do with decorating But there was everything that you needed in the room. The shower was very good with plenty hot water and had very good shower soap, shampoo and conditioner so no need to bring your own. In the morning we went down for breakfast and I must say the buffet breakfast was such you couldn’t wish for anything else. The choice was very good. They have 4 restaurants which you can book and we didn’t have any trouble in booking any of them. We managed to book all 3 of the 4 nights of our stay, we did book the 6.30pm and the food was delicious but you have to use the app to book as early as you can after arriving. Some things, I will say, which were very disappointing. The bed had only a sheet. There were these old fleece type blankets on the top of the wardrobe you could use and the pillows were very lumpy. Definitely need replacing. The air-conditioning was quite temperamental. You’re either were cold 🥶 with the fan very loud and you did have to turn it off in the evening or you wouldn’t have got any sleep. The fridge packed up so we only had warm drinks but they did come and mend it straight away so I can’t complain about that really. There is an ice machine at the end of the corridor so we could still cool our drinks. The final complaint, perhaps the most important we would say, is for some reason they booked our room in a section where they were maintaining the outside of the hotel and this affected our balcony. We really couldn’t use the balcony after two days because it looked dangerous and was covered in paint chippings and bits of concrete and plaster . Why they would you put you in a room when they know that they’re gonna do maintenance on the balconies? Very strange? So I would say this hotel has some very good points, but there is still disappointing points and especially when considering the amount of money we paid, which was very expensive.

One of the worst AIs I've been to
I booked this hotel based on reviews, but unfortunately it looks like you can’t always trust them as many people don’t travel that much and can’t compare it to other places. The main reason I booked it, was the easiness to book restaurants and that wasn’t the case once I got there. It’s an okay place if you can’t afford much (the price we booked it for was reasonable) but if you can afford more and you are used to luxury AI, you will completely dislike this place. You basically get what you paid for in this place. Good: They have beach service so everyone gets an umbrella and chairs on the beach The water is very nice, blue color, not green, and very clear Taxi was $55 one way Entertainment is good Most rooms are ocean view, the ones in the back of the building don't and they also don't have balconies They have a 24 h bar that serves coffee and snacks Bad: Literally everything else You can't book restaurants until you get your room number; after that you can't find anything available for 2 days and the steak house is hard to book regardless of the dates. If you have a 4 days vacation, you will only get to dine at two restaurants and it will most likely not be the steakhouse Not all restaurants are good, Crystal was not my cup of tea and the Japanese one is just okay Buffet was barely edible for me, I ate toasted bread with butter for dinner one night when we could not get a restaurant reservation; food was simply not good at this hotel It's a hotel on the beach not a resort You can only get 1 appetizer, 1 entree and 1 desert at restaurants Not the best crowd The beach is loud and busy, chairs are close to each other and they smoke non stop on the beach. or if it’s not that, then you smell the grill smoke or the gas from the 12 jet skis or the banana boat Drinks are okay - especially if you tip You can walk to Atlantis and there is a market next to it and a marina - very nice area The room smelled really bad The AC made a terrible noise making it impossible to sleep Personally, I will not return, but if you're on a budged, you might like this place.
