  No Complaints Here!

  Let's start with the staff!! Not one problem with staff. They went above and beyond with anything we asked of them. We generally go with treat people with respect, and you will get the same in return. Our room was just fine. Cleaned daily and resupplied when asked for extras in the fridge. We also leave a tip daily for the maids who clean. The area around the hotel was exceptionally clean and well maintained. We would like to shout out to the staff down near the pool restrooms who work continually on keeping the floors mopped up from water from us swimmers. Restrooms were cleaned constantly. We would also like to give a shout to the staff at the buffet. Great Job!! Plenty of choices to pick from at the buffet. Scenery! Scenery! Scenery! The look out into the ocean was beautiful. Water was awesome as well!! I will admit that were a couple of times we may have heard some noise late at night but nothing for us to be upset about. Hell, people are there for a good time!! We sleep with ear plugs when out of town!! Also, close the extra door in your room to mitigate hallway noise! All in all, I would stay at another RIU if the price is right at time of booking!!

  Great location, absolutely deplorable property conditions.

  I recently stayed at Riu Cancun, and I feel compelled to share an honest account of the experience so other travelers can make an informed decision. I selected this property based on the highly polished—indeed, clearly photoshopped—images displayed on the hotel’s website. Those images bear little resemblance to the actual state of the facilities. To be precise, the lobby and the staff are exceptional, and they deserve genuine commendation for their professionalism and hospitality. Unfortunately, their efforts are completely overshadowed by the deplorable condition of the hotel itself. The age and neglect of the property were immediately apparent the moment I entered the elevator. It is obvious the hotel has not undergone any meaningful upgrades or renovations in at least two decades. The room assigned to us was filthy, heavily dated, and wholly unacceptable. The mattresses felt as old as the elevator—no exaggeration—and the television did not function at all. Despite booking a king-sized bed, we were given two queen beds pushed together, and when I requested the bed type I had reserved, I was simply told none were available. The bathroom facilities were equally antiquated, matching the same 20-plus-year deterioration evident throughout the room. For a property within a major hotel chain, this level of disregard for maintenance and guest comfort is astounding. I can state unequivocally that I will never stay at another Riu property. The manner in which this hotel is presented online versus the reality of its accommodations is unacceptable and misleading. Travelers deserve transparency, and I sincerely hope this review serves as a warning to others: DO NOT STAY HERE. Even a standard Best Western offers better accommodations. The facilities at this property are, quite frankly, a joke.

  Blaming guests for their own errors. Terrible attitude.

  The worst experience I have ever had. Avoid !. Front desk are confrontational when we tried to solve an issue that they created. Check in took 40mins. After a long journey the last thing a traveller wants is mix ups with rooms after overbooking. We booked a twin room and were "upgraded" to a room with one bed. Another 40 minutes passed before someone put a fold out bed into the room. We were told that we would have a separate room the following night and I arrived back after a good night in Cancun to be told I have no access to the room. Staff take no responsibility and are confrontational. The attitude of the staff at front desk was the real killer though. Never experienced anything like it.

  Perfect for relax

  Really nice hotel to relax and enjoy your vacation in a sunny place. Room with a ocean view is fantastic. All staff are good, smiling all the time. We felt very welcome there. Clean place. Food is good as well. Entertainment every single day. Just the gym is a little bit disappointing.

  Great Location

  The resort is clean and perfectly located and the pools are excellent. The drinks are great but the buffet could stand some upgrading. I did not care for the the fact that there was the same food offered for both lunch and dinner and for each day we stayed there.
