Requirements for Weddings in Costa Rica
Birth Certificates of both (Bride and Groom): Original and copy
Passport: Original and copy
Certificate of civil state: Single state certificate of the home country. Final divorce decree if either party is divorced, death certificate if either part is widowed. Only originals.
Two witnesses: They cannot be relatives. (If the bride and groom do not bring their own witnesses, the hotel can provide them)
Additional information: Occupation, addresses, nationalities, ages, of both, bride and groom and witnesses.
The bride and groom must be at the property at least 4 days prior to the wedding date, in order to finalize the necessary paper work.
Ceremony must be scheduled with officials at least one month in advance.

Nov 18, 2025Bizarre treatment and harassment at checkout.
Everything was great except check in and check out. Upon check in we had requested 2 beds and were the first in our group to make reservations. We were given a king room and there were no other options. Finally late that night, they found a room for us and cleaned it quickly. my bed sheets were not clean though - there was sand and debris in the bed. On check out - they cut off our wrist bands and gave us the check out paper. a few minutes later, they came over and said one of our wrist bands was broken. It was not broken when they cut it off of us and both of us used the bands to unlock the door that morning. We refused to pay the fee to replace the band. They then stopped our shuttle bus in front of the hotel about the wrist bands. Luckily our driver Jose talked to them and settled things until we were stopped again at the gate! 3 more employees said we couldn't leave until we paid the fee. Once again Jose saved the day as we don't speak much Spanish. This was harrassment and extortion. WE felt violated by your staff. It was so bizarre after the great week and wonderful treatment we had up until that time. Sadly, We will not return because of this treatment.

Nice resort but poor food quality and lack of nightlife
The resort itself was beautiful, with well-maintained grounds and comfortable rooms. However, food quality and variety was poor, especially at the buffet, and availability of specialty restaurants was limited. Very little entertainment or nightlife. Disco was empty every night. On site tour company, On the Beach, quoted different prices on the same excursions and would not honor prices quoted prior to arriving at resort.

Nov 17, 2025Lovely couples vacation at Papagayo Occidental
Check-in was quick and painless. Access to everything but your room if you show up early. A more secure area for luggage would've been better. Pools were great - clean and fairly warm. Pool with wet bar was a bit crowded, but it was a good time if you're into that kind of thing. Room was very clean and comfortable with air conditioning. We really liked the food - not complaints at all. Lots of options, quality seemed high, and the coffee was delicious. Beers are a bit watered down (or low ABV%), but that's pretty standard. There can be lots of walking (which is OK if you like to get your steps in), but in case you're not able to move as fast or as much, they offer a shuttle service for the better part of the day, or you can order a personal golf cart. The beach was beautiful - sand was soft and warm, waves weren't too big, and the water was very warm. Lots of shade in the trees which was nice. You will have to hang with the vendors and the locals, but they understand if you don't want to interact. We would recommend this place to our friends if they're into a quieter stay in a beautiful location close to Liberia and the airport.

We love Costa Rica
We loved our trip here! So many animals, monkeys by the pool. Delicious food. Our bartenders Yeudiel, Oscar, David and Alexander were amazing! We are already missing the view and recommending this resort to our friends and family! Pura vida!

Overall we were very pleased with the hotel. The location, the grounds, the food and entertainment were great! Being situated on a hillside, there are a lot of stairs to navigate. Be careful. Our only complaint was the inconsistency of towel delivery. The number and type of towels we received was different from day to day.
