  Exceeded expectations

  We had a terrific stay at Zilara RM. I've also stayed at Secrets Maroma just down the beach, which was a more expensive 5-star resort. There were a few things that I liked about Secrets better, but our stay at Zilara still exceeded my expectations. The food and drinks were great. Served by friendly staff in a timely manner. The activities were not well advertised. You could find them on the app, but I liked that at Secrets if there was an activity the staff would go around asking people to join and kind of making it more entertaining and fun. The pool was very nice and the ocean beautiful and well kept. I would recommend staying here for your all-inclusive vacation!

  Excellent Shoulder Season Stay!

  I traveled during shoulder season, other times of the year might be different. We had an oceanfront double that was wonderful, our butler Alfonso was responsive to everything we needed, even decorating my room for my birthday. The resort is smaller and was not full so chairs were easy to get at the pool or beach. Not every restaurant was open every night, so you had to plan ahead. Entertainment was excellent! We enjoyed bingo, karaoke, a rock band and impersonator show. This is not a huge party resort, not much is happening after 10 pm, but there was plenty to do up til then and we were never bored. Sandy, Firmin and Hector on the entertainment team are great! Food at Capri, Lola and Tappanyaki were all excellent. The buffet was not huge (but the resort isn't either) but it's big enough and the quality was good. Everything was beautiful.

  Money Grab

  There were roaches in the room. The lights in the walk out pool adjacent to our room didn't work so we fell in because we checked in and had no butler and no welcome. Instead we had to deal with the checkin which didn't go well at all. We traveled to the resort as we were meeting our lifelong friend who was diagnosed with aggressive pancreatic cancer and was given 3 weeks to live. He and his wife decided to spend a week of the 3 he has left in life at the resort/ property. Originally we were going to fly commercial but our flights were canceled as a result of the USA government shut down. I called Hyatt to ask for help because I paid for our lodging but due to the flight cancelation; we were going to be checking in a day late and want to stay the same amount of time we booked so we would get there a day late and leave a day later than originally planned. I was told to send an email with this request AFTER taking the time to call. I sent the email. Because our trip was TIME limited; we chartered a plane to get to your resort. Upon arrival at the resort; there was no indication that my email had been received and I was told to CALL Hyatt AGAIN and when I did that I was told AGAIN to send an email. I received a return email from Hyatt days after checking telling me to provide information that I had already provided (reservation number/name/date). Instead of working with us. The front desk didn't show hospitality to us. Did not show us to our room Did not tell us anything about the property. We had a butler but it was after hours. And the butler service was more an eyes on us for your property rather than any sort of help to us. Our butler called, texted incessantly, accosted friends and family on the beach looking for me to ensure that we PAY for the "additional night" we were staying. Rather than enjoying my time with my dying friend; I was being harassed by the staff wanting more money from me. It was disgusting. It was pathetic. It was beyond disappointing. We will NEVER go back and we will tell everyone we know how awful this experience was. There is so much more to share but this is a good start.

  Want to get away and relax this is the place!

  This was a great experience for us. From the start the staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and housekeeping came by regularly(felt like 2 times a day) My wife and I went for a relaxing vacation and it lived up to it. I am warning you now, if you’re going for a party vibe this is NOT it! It’s a more intimate resort with about 300 rooms and most guest are older. With that being said they had entertainment every night, we experienced live bands and performances every night, they were pretty good shows too. Fermin aka the Ferminator and Sandy were part of the entertainment team and they were incredible. Our pool waiter Julio was one of the best waiters I’ve had in my life. Always positive and very attentive! The food options were good and the reservation system was very simple. Lines and waiting is pretty much non existent. My favorite was the Capri restaurant, but the Tempest was also delicious. The beach had clean fine sand and the water was pretty clear. We also got the couples massage and hydrotherapy and it was worth it! Overall we had a great time and the staff made it a great experience.

  Great stay.

  Great staff, great management. You can see leaders constantly walking the property. Property needs some maintenance which I am certain will happen in the near future.
