Well Appointed, Chill, Luxury, Intimate
We spent 8/17-23 @ Hammock Cove and had a great trip. HC was exactly as advertised. Well appointed individual villas with plunge pools, privacy, luxury, and tranquility. It is not the Four Seasons, but it fits in the luxury boutique niche. I think the "Ambassador" concept is a great idea, but it kind of missed. Communicating via a "house" cell phone is clumsy and not very efficient. Messages and requests went unanswered for hours or longer. I would prefer a traditional, centrally based concierge that took requests and then dispatched the service or amenity accordingly. Weather - Great as expected. Plunge Pool - Outstanding. Bugs - We did not have an issue at all. Property - Easy to get around, very well maintained, and tropical. Food - Very good, best meal was at the Sir Rob's Steak House (we only went to the Lighthouse 2 nights and not for the 7 course meal.) Breakfast - Irina's was very good every day, service was great. Service - Overall very good, and employees almost always had a smile. Pool - Three tier pool allowed for some privacy. Beach - Small, intimate and on a cove. If you want wide soft white sand and turquoise water, thats not here. Water is blue, clear, and very nice. Water Sports - available, easy access, and in good condition. Bars - Beach bar was always flowing, never a wait. Waiters will deliver a drink to you in the water to one of the 5 lily pads. Gym - Well appointed, dumbbell's to 60lb., cables, modern cardio equipment, clean. Housekeeping - good, but sometimes had to call for service, or additional amenities. Overall I/we strongly recommend Hammock Cove for couples looking to disconnect, unwind, enjoy each other, and take a break from the day to day grind. We took one excursion and had a driver "Marley", who showed us around the island, touching on several historic sites and learning some Antiguan history. Antigua is not built up, and there are very few if any hi-rise hotels, it maintains a chill Caribbean charm. Remember, you are on island time and as I mentioned, its not the Four Seasons, so you may need patience and or need to follow up for a request. Hammock Cove and Antigua lived up to (high) expectations.

If you love food and want to get away, visit Hammock Cove.
First and foremost, Hammock Cove exceeded expectations. The staff, the food, the resort itself – all excellent. The villas are huge for two people, they are beautiful and the areas between them are well manicured and make you feel as though you're in a fantasy island. We LOVED getting to know our fellow guests at each bar. The food and drink are the standouts. Each meal was exceptional and paired with a well-thought out cocktail. (Joel is the greatest mixologist.) Spend most of your dinners in the Lighthouse, and ALWAYS do the specialty lunches at the beach. I want to highlight a few staff who were beyond exceptional: Joel – Most friendly, most fun, most inventive cocktails. Make friends with him immediately. Chef Marco – Sweet guy, who is obviously passionate about the food he creates. His food is next level good. Do the cooking class with him! Julio – Single-handedly keeps the beach moving. He runs the watersports, but brought us more drinks than the servers. Go out on the sailboat with him! JaySon – Our primary ambassador. He ran circles around the others, not that they were bad, he was just attentive to everything. Illaria – She remembered our orders, where we preferred to sit, and was so very pleasant. Shawna – So sweet, and makes the best banana drinks! I will return to this resort.

Fabulous scene and fab drinks.
Amaretto sour from Daryn at Irina’s. Best one you will ever have, even if you don’t like amaretto sours. She makes the sour mix from scratch. It’s AMAZING. Also, she’s the most pleasant bartender you’ll meet. And she can make ANYTHING.

Wonderful Resort… But Unexpectedly “Unwelcome” After 17 Years
We have always regarded Elite Island Resorts as among the very best in the Caribbean. During our second stay at Galley Bay, we obtained a Day Pass and a personal tour of their flagship resort, Hammock Cove, as we had already booked a holiday there for October 2025. What was already excellent became exceptional—the location was breathtaking, and every member of staff we met was among the warmest and most professional in Antigua. As with all Elite resorts, from management to housekeeping, activities, pool staff, bar, and restaurant teams, the service appeared consistently outstanding. The cuisine we experienced at lunch was superb, and the overall resort atmosphere truly first-class. Having been loyal guests for more than 17 years, with over 20 visits across their Caribbean properties and more than £250,000 spent, we were shocked to receive a personal email from the CEO when attempting to book a return visit to Galley Bay in 2026. Not only was our booking declined, but he also authorised the cancellation of our October 2025 reservation at Hammock Cove (Antigua). The only notification we initially received was a short message from our booking agent advising that our reservation had been cancelled. Shortly afterwards, we received a follow-up email from the COO. While stressing that the resorts generally provide guests with a wonderful all-inclusive island experience, he went on to say: “there is no one size fits all when it comes to holiday travel, and no single resort or resort group is perfect for everyone. To that end, we simply feel that our resorts are not the best fit for your future holidays. We wish you the very best with your future travels, even though those travels will NOT include our resorts.” This was followed by instructions to the Director of Sales to cancel our Hammock Cove reservation and issue a full refund. No explanation was provided—simply the door closed on us. After so many years of loyalty, this response left us deeply disappointed and bewildered. In my personal opinion, it appears possible that Elite Island Resorts may be engaging in some form of customer profiling, potentially using social media, to determine which guests fit their preferred profile. If you don’t, you may suddenly find yourself uninvited to return. That said, I cannot fault the quality of the resorts themselves: they remain truly first-class.

A perfect holiday experience
A really fabulous 5 star luxury experience- beautiful villas with plunge pool - a very gorgeous beach - and really friendly guests too - we made lots of friends - the food though is exceptional… lobster on tap - definitely fine dining - weather perfect - hot with only tiny bit of rain - a great time to go - also they service the most delicious food on the beach from BBq to oysters ! There’s games room, spa, private dining…
