Popular destinations include ancient Mayan temples on the north side of the Island; the sanctuary to Ix- Chel -the fertility goddess- in San Gervasio and the Museum of the Island of Cozumel, with its colorful displays of underwater reefs and other Island treasures. At El Cedral, on the south side of the Island, the oldest Maya structure on Cozumel built in A.D. 800 can be found. Nearby a towering lighthouse at Punta Sur offers a 360-degree view of the Island.
Cozumel is habitat to many nature reserves: the Cozumel Marine Reef National Park, Chankanaab Park and Lagoon, and Punta Sur. Botanical gardens at Chankanaab Park display 350 different types of tropical plants from more than 20 countries. Another attraction is the dolphin aquarium, treating visitors to a close-encounter with playful dolphins. Punta Sur is a new eco-tourist park for visitors interested in learning about the Island's native flora and fauna. Encircling a region known as Colombia Lagoon, Punta Sur is a unique setting of mangrove jungles, white sandy beaches and reef formations. The Park's information center allows visitors to watch a 20-minute video and learn about different eco-systems, environment and native birds, turtles, alligators, fish and coral in the Park. At the information center, visitors can rent electric bikes to explore Punta Sur on their own.

Jun 12, 2025Do not stay at this hotel!
Rooms are old and furniture is decrepit. I was told that there were parts of the hotel that were renovated and I asked for a new room. I was told mine was a new room. It most certainly was not. Food is awful. Looked like the food had been left standing out for many hours. The all-inclusive is $55 per person per day and is a complete rip off. We didn’t do it and ate in town at restaurants for much cheaper. The people who work there were nice to our faces, on the whole, but clearly were happy to lie straight to your face. Every single day, I had to ask for more towels. By day two you would think they would just put the number of towels we needed in the room when they cleaned. But they never did. I had also requested an extra bed in the room but it was not there. They did bring it when I insisted. Once I needed an umbrella by the pool as we were sun weary. There were umbrellas at tables to the side of the pool but they were not used once while I was there. The staff by the pool refused to bring the umbrella over to the pool for us. I went to the front desk and it took a big conference of about 10 people before the umbrella was brought over. Maybe the only reason to stay here is that there is a diving school on site, but I believe this is quite common in Cozumel. Find somewhere else!

Another great stay at Hotel Cozumel & Resort! I've been coming here for over 20 years, and it truly gets better every year. The location is perfect—just a short walk from town—and the food is always delicious. It’s become a home away from home, and I can’t wait to come back again!

Jun 10, 2025Disappointed with this Wyndham property
I stayed at this resort last August and was pleased with what I got for what I paid. Unfortunately, I didn’t get what was advertised this time. The overview of this resort specifically mentions “straightforward rooms come with free Wi-Fi and TV’s”. I had Wi-Fi in my room last August, so I was expecting the same in May. I couldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi, so I went to the reception desk and was told that they no longer provide that service to the rooms and I would have to use the connection in the lobby, which is on an unsecured network!! This is totally unacceptable for a Wyndham property. Many in my group had to do some work and make personal Wi-Fi calls in a public area. We all agreed that we will not be staying here for our next trip.

Friends trip 2025
This place is great. Not super fancy but clean and great! Good food, good drinks. Huge pool. Amazing area to float at the beach. We always buy pool noodles in Cozumel. Works great!! You can see starfish and eels right there. No need to take an excursion. ( I mean the excursions are well worth it. If you aren’t sure about the boat rides the ocean front never disappoints. ) The entertainment at night is so wonderful. The fire show and the Mayan celebration was so good! The activities crew during the days has so many things to do. Never a dull moment. Shout out to the best crew ever : Suny, Juanita, Edgar, and Yesi. YOU GUYS ROCK!!! We can’t wait to see you again.

Great experience
Everything was amazing. Only thing need to spray for ants at the beach that would b great. The entertainment was awesome suny, Juanita, Edgar and yesi was amazing and did a great job. The shows and activities was great that kept everything going.
