    Great Time

The staff was amazing. We were part of the Xhale club. So we had a private pool and staff. The staff was amazing, especially our buyer waitresses and bartenders, Vianny, Franchiely, Zulenny,Dania!! All three of these women are very attentive, friendly and fun. They made our trip and our stay amazing. The food was amazing. We had one situation with the concierge setting up a spa day and he was a little creepy, but I can’t remember his name. But otherwise all the staff was amazing, friendly, attentive, and informative. I would definitely go back to this resort and do the private Xhale club again!! The only thing that I would change for an all-inclusive would be that you didn’t have to carry cash for tips. Everywhere you went the tips were in the price of the trip and if you wanted to give them more, you could at the end it got frustrating always having to carry some kind of cash with you.

    Meh

Absolutely — here’s a more Jodie-style version that still stays polished, honest, and balanced, and includes your concerns about Hyatt: --- We recently stayed at Breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa, and while we made the most of our trip and had a great time with family and friends, there were several parts of the experience that really missed the mark. **Service Highlights** There were some absolute gems on staff. Dayzi in the café was a bright spot every single day. She was warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive. Juan at the Preferred beach bar brought great energy and made sure everyone was taken care of. Most of the team members we interacted with were kind and eager to please, and that effort didn’t go unnoticed. **Sales Pressure at Check-In** What was noticed, in the worst way, was the aggressive timeshare pitch that immediately followed check-in. After hours of traveling, we just wanted to get to our room and out of our travel clothes, but instead we were stuck listening to a sales script we never asked for and couldn’t easily shut down. To be clear, I’m not frustrated with the individual employee; he was doing what he was told. My frustration is directly aimed at Hyatt, because they are forcing employees to badger guests before they can even get to their rooms. It’s off-putting, unnecessary, and it genuinely set our vacation off on the wrong foot. What was even more concerning is that several employees we interacted with seemed genuinely nervous about making a mistake, like they’d be punished or lose their jobs if they deviated from a rule or expectation. That is not the vibe anyone wants on vacation, and we honestly worried for them. **Room & Luggage Issues** Once we finally made it to our room, our luggage didn’t arrive for about three hours. We followed up repeatedly and eventually had to demand help from the butler. Meanwhile, we were stuck in sweatpants and sneakers in 85-degree heat, couldn’t go to dinner because of dress codes, couldn’t go to the pool or beach without swimsuits, and ended up at the Onyx buffet just to get a meal, none of which should happen at this price point. The excuse was that the team was “busy,” but the resort was nowhere near capacity. There really wasn’t an excuse. We also had a smaller irritation with the TV in our room (4312), which was constantly freezing after a few minutes. Not a deal-breaker, but it would’ve been nice to unwind at night without restarting it every time. **Dining Issues** Food-wise, the buffet and Spumante were the biggest disappointments. The beef dish I ordered at Spumante was extremely fatty and greasy, and tasted closer to canned meat than something a resort kitchen should be serving. It was flat-out inedible, which was pretty shocking. The hibachi and Hispanic restaurants were amazing. The food was delicious. **Overall Impression** All that said, we still enjoyed our time, great atmosphere, fun drinks, and time with our people. But based on this experience, we’re probably not coming back. The value matched what we paid, but the operational issues, the dining misses, and the uncomfortable sales pressure from Hyatt were enough to steer us elsewhere next time.

    Fun Resort

Breathless gave us many reasons to love it and recommend it, but a few reasons we couldn’t necessarily give it a 5-star rating. Breathless is an adults only resort with a mostly mature adult party atmosphere yet areas to get away from the crowds and music and achieve relaxation. There are 2 pools on the grounds. One is in the center and dubbed the party pool. Generally, after 3:00pm the DJ is on and the party starts. It’s not a massive pool nor are there ample chairs. Unfortunately, people do reserve chairs even though you aren’t supposed to. With that said, people woke up later than we were used to so even at 9:00am you’ll find a spot to set up. The second pool is closer to the beach and while it isn’t the “party” pool, it normally has some music, most of the activities like yoga, Zumba, games, etc. This pool is larger and we didn’t have any issues finding chairs here. It’s also close to the snack bar which serves burgers, fries, make your own salad, and had an ice cream machine that seemed to be reminiscent of your local McDonalds … out of ice cream or broken. The rooms were spacious and clean. The property as well was very clean and easy to navigate. Its sister resort next door, Dreams Onyx, gives you access to shared amenities as well and its restaurants. For instance, it shares a gym and we took advantage of the better restaurant options as well. The gym - big nope. I guess for a resort gym it isn’t bad, but heavily concentrated on cardio machines. The lifting area needs a lot of help. Good luck finding matching plates and none of them go over 35 lbs. I know this isn’t a part of the resort most people care about, but the people that care about it need this information. The pictures seemed like it was well equipped, but it’s just “bigger” than most hotel/resort gyms; it’s not better equipped in my opinion. The restaurants were just ok. The grill was good and the buffet had many options. The restaurants at Dreams were definitely better and the wait was specified. They wouldn’t give us a wait time at Breathless because all the restaurants were “small”. Drinks were generally pretty good. Mojitos were a miss. They make a drink called the “purple drink” which was very popular and we enjoyed it a lot. The coffee shop wasn’t very good. The coffee was not always made fresh. On two occasions we ordered lattes and unlike many of the other resorts we’ve stayed at, they didn’t always brew it on the spot. They poured it out of a carafe. Now on to xhale club (their privilege option) and room upgrades. We think the xhale upgrade is worth it. It gives you access to a restaurant near the beach for breakfast and lunch that also has a breakfast buffet. You also get access to the VIP lounges with better alcohol, but these were not conveniently located. Some of the swim outs were better than others. We upgraded at check in, but didn’t get one of the swim outs facing into the resort towards the pool so not a lot of sun in the morning. They seem to “look” better on the interior side as well. Choose it before you get there. We had an issue with being overcharged for it and it kind of soured a portion of the trip. I’m waiting for my refund as of writing this so I’ll update if that falls through and will dock another star if they don’t keep their word. The issue was we verbally agreed to one price and in the midst of getting introduced to our butler and leaving to the room, I signed for a higher amount. The receptionist admitted to this yet I was made to feel at fault for “signing for it” even though she admitted that the price I stated was the price she agreed to. We checked out Dreams and unfortunately didn’t have access to their privilege pools, but they looked MUCH nicer. Next time, we may consider staying there. All in all, it was a successful trip with plenty of good entertainment from the staff and performers at the shows. It was clean which I rate highly and the staff works very hard. If you’re looking for a party resort with a crowd that is generally responsible drinkers, this is the place to go. We didn’t run into sloppy drunks, obnoxious guests, or rude ones. We had a couple nights where people were inconsiderate in the hallways. There is a club and there was yelling at 3-5am. With that said, could just have been an issue with this particular group next door because they were the only ones that were doing this. You probably don’t want to bring your conservative grandmother here, but the guests ranging from 20 something to retired and living it up all seemed to mesh well at Breathless.

    21st Birthday Celebration

Amazing stay at Breathless Punta Cana! The resort was beautiful, clean, and full of great energy. The food, entertainment, and overall atmosphere exceeded expectations. A special shout-out to Romeder for his outstanding service—he was attentive, professional, and truly made our experience unforgettable. Staff like him are what make guests want to return. Highly recommend!
