Fantastic Getaway – Great Atmosphere, Staff, and Food

Here’s a cleaned-up TripAdvisor version you can copy/paste: ⸻ The property is just a short drive from the airport, and we arranged easy transportation through Amstar, which is available everywhere. The hotel feels very safe, with a controlled entry and exit gate. The overall atmosphere is amazing and classy. The value is reasonable seeing it’s all inclusive. Plenty of places to escape to for peace and quiet if you’re looking for that. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Service and staff are excellent—very attentive, friendly, and always willing to help. There’s plenty of great food and lots of fun things to do on the property. There are shows throughout the day and evening, so be sure to check the schedule. We also enjoyed some of the pool parties during the day and at night (note: there is an extra charge for access and cabanas). And yes—the food was absolutely delicious! We did a few off-property excursions, so we didn’t fully maximize everything the hotel offers, but we still packed a lot into our 4½-day stay and finished with a very relaxing last day.

    10/10 recomend!!!!!!!!

This was an amazing experience and I enjoyed my time at this resort. All the staff members are lovely. I would highly recommend and stay here again. Some things that maybe need a bit of improvement are... 1. The main washrooms. The toilets wouldn't fully flush not matter how long I held the flush button for. 2. Entertainment was nice but was too short in terms of timing (it would end 10 mins prior to the actually finishing time). I would appreciate starting it at 730 and go till 12am. Then the night club portion go to about 2/3am every night. There was a night where the main entertainment was finished at 1050 and there was nothing else for the remainder of the night and it sucks for guest who are checking in on those days and are looking to do something fun or even have a drink. All bars were closed by 1am 3. The alcohol must have been watered down because it wasn't as strong for many others. I don't drink much so it was good for me 😊. 4. The hot tub was not hot at ALL and it wasn't the whole trip. 5. Pools close too early. Music is off by 5pm, It would be nice if at least one pool was opened til about 12am and they had music still going until the entertainment starts. These are all minor amendments that I think will make the experience even better, but still overall a great experience!

    DISAPPOINTING

Service 4-stars Food 3-stars Accommodations 4-stars Cocktails 3-stars View 1-star Beach 1-star Pool 3-stars The staff was very good: housekeeping, room service, wait staff, bartenders, etc. The rooms were good, and we got upgraded to an "ocean view". The restaurants were nice, and we never experienced a long wait time for a table. Bar service was also good and swift. The beach was terrible. Basically, this property is on the lousy side of the Gulf. Hyatt only owns half of the beach, closest to the hotel, and the other half leading into the water is open to the public. There is also a very dumpy dock with a few shoddy-looking vessels that are a huge eyesore. The result is a crappy view with a lot of riff-raff and partiers not staying at the Hyatt. It was so lousy that we turned around and went back to the pool. As for the pools, there are only three. The main, ground-level pool is nice, but the hot tub is not heated. The other pool is on the shorter building's rooftop, which is party central. The 3rd pool is for Exhale club members only, which costs an additional $100 per day for better spirits, and access to the rooftop restaurant for breakfast and hibachi dinner. There are plenty of lounge chairs with umbrellas, and 2-person cabanas to rent for $85 per day. Note, though, that the cabana curtains only close on two sides. The main restaurant, Spoon, is decent. There is a good selection of food for breakfast (the only breakfast option), lunch, and dinner, but most food lacks flavor. Everything is served buffet-style, and the wait service is good. There are two griddles for omelettes, but only one is staffed so the wait is way too long and unacceptable. The other restaurants are basically open only for dinner, although there are a few small buffet stations set up at the pools in the afternoon. The bars serve mid-tier spirits with low-tier mixers. Don't expect a craft cocktail or anything even close. Want a margarita? Don't expect fresh lime juice as part of it. I didn't really have a problem with the level of spirits, such as Cazadores. It was really the other ingredients that made the cocktails lousy, like triple sec instead of Cointreau. No fresh lime juice made me feel like I was in some dump like Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Hyatt's business partner, amstar, is deplorable, and the resort's transportation staff is not much better. Both get zero stars for attitude and helpfulness. If you decide to take the risk and use amstar to get back to the airport, expect the driver to be substantially late, and you may not make your flight. In addition, the driver may likely be very rude and condescending. They are a very poor representative of Hyatt, and I am shocked that Hyatt would partner with them. Breathless has a younger, upbeat vibe and seems to cater to first-time Cancun vacationers. The staff does a good job, but the food and drinks could use an upgrade, and the ocean view and beach and completely unacceptable. If you are looking for an alternative adults-only, all-inclusive resort in Cancun, you can do much better with Live Aqua. However, note that they are owned by a Mexican company, so their staff can seem a bit shady at times. Live Aqua's pools and beach are top-notch, and everything else is on par or better than Breathless. Note that they have a very chill, laid-back atmosphere, if that's your thing.

    Beautiful hotel poor Customer Service

The hotel and property is beautiful. I booked the Xhale room and enjoyed a VIP check in and other amenities like the VIP lounge and rooftop on the pool but the poor customer service during our stay made our stay terrible. i expected a VIP experience and not aggressive, rude employees or poor service at the restaurants. This was my first and last time staying at the property. I gave the hotel many opportunities to correct the issues and all I got was excuses. There was one person on the last day that tried to help named Sylvia but it was too little too late.

Breathless Cancún Soul Resort & Spa (Nov 18–23, 2025)

My wife and I stayed at Breathless Cancún Soul Resort & Spa from November 18–23, 2025. Overall, we had a decent experience, but we left feeling that the resort fell short of expectations for the price point and the “luxe” branding. Service & Staff — 5/5 The standout of our entire stay was the customer service. Staff across the resort were friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. The cleaning staff in particular did an incredible job, and our room was always spotless. We stayed in an Xhale Club room, and it was beautiful spacious, modern, and we loved having a hot tub on the balcony. The premium beverages were a nice perk, though we’re still on the fence about whether the extra cost was truly worth it. Food & Dining — 2.5/5 The international buffet was decent, nothing remarkable but good enough for quick meals. FishNet, one of the specialty restaurants, was excellent and easily the highlight of our dining experience. The other specialty restaurants, however, were mediocre at best. Breakfast was a major disappointment. The options were extremely limited, and it was surprising that no meat was served at all. I enjoy having steak with my eggs occasionally, so this was a letdown especially at a resort of this level. Room service was by far the worst aspect of our stay. The food was genuinely inedible without exaggeration, the worst room service we’ve ever had anywhere. To make matters worse, no restaurants are open after 10:30 PM, which is unusual for an all-inclusive. That meant we had to leave the resort just to satisfy late-night cravings, which shouldn’t be the case at a luxury property. We also had one disappointing customer service moment: when we requested two small packets of M&M’s through room service, we were told we could only receive one per room and even when we offered to pay for an additional one, we were still refused. A small issue, but handled poorly. Entertainment & Activities — 2.5/5 Daytime entertainment is lacking and could be significantly improved, not much to do during the day at all. Night entertainment was enjoyable, but space was extremely limited. What made it worse was seeing the resort trying to sell “bottles and booths” for better seating… at a dance show? Meanwhile, many booths sat empty while guests were left standing due to limited seating. It felt unnecessary and poorly thought out. Overall We did enjoy parts of our stay, especially the service, our room, and the experience at FishNet. But based on the resort’s price point and the many glowing reviews we had read beforehand, we expected more especially in terms of food quality, variety, and entertainment. We’ve stayed at other resorts in the area for less money and received significantly more in return. Unfortunately, we don’t think we’ll be returning.
