    Do better

We have stayed at Bahía Príncipe Sian Kaan twice and Akumal about 8 times so we are not new to this resort. We have experienced its decline over the last several years. Positives- they have a great golf course and staying at Sian Kaan is more convenient access to the course, we like that Sian Kaan is located by the homes and Condos which gave us lots of area to walk daily in the neighborhoods, the food at the restaurants was good and staff through complex were pleasant. Negatives-We had a ground floor room with cockroaches which we reported each day for the first 3 days of our stay which they sent someone to treat the room. Regardless they were there and it was stressful knowing that they could be in our belongings and highjacking home with us (we are still not unpacked to avoid bringing them into our home). Getting a restaurant reservation was next to impossible unless you want to eat at 9:30 pm. In all the years of coming to this resort we have never been informed that reservations could be made in the app prior to arriving. We spent the week constantly checking the app in hopes of a cancellation- our diligence paid off and we eventually got some reservations but shouldn’t have had to spend so much effort on our vacation just to have a nice dinner. We don’t have any issue with the buffet food but only ate breakfast at Sian Kaan. Lunch and dinner were always at Akumal due to larger, more variety but did notice many items mislabeled- it was a game of guess what you are eating. Akumal snack bar by the pool now has very limited buffet and now you have to order from a kiosk- very poor system- if I want a slice of pizza I need to order a whole pizza. Snack bar should be about convenience. In the past servers were poolside constantly with peanuts, fruit kabobs and drinks, now you are lucky someone offers you a drink. We did not use pool at Sian Kaan, they are small and gave us a geriatric vibe. We have always appreciated the trolley system but this trip when your trolley shows up and those people waiting load- the driver stands around while everyone is dying from the heat; let’s move it along, another trolley is coming for the next people! The seaweed is the worst we ever seen and the smell is terrible. The towel system needs some work. Front desk told us we need to accountable to our towels or will be charged, but if you go to a towel stand they tell you just to drop your wet towel in the bin- we had to be sure that we traded for dry (which was pain to lug them back and forth between complexes). Other times a towel stand would ask for room #, name, how many towels and enter something on an iPad. Whatever the actual process is no two staff were on the same page. Sian Kaan needs a theatre; there are too many view obstructions and limited seating to enjoy a show there. I could go on and on but overall to sum it up: What use to be my “ happy place”;We do not plan to return.

    Excellent, again

Another great stay at Sian Kaan. We were greeted by really friendly, efficient Eldrik from Guest Experience Team who went above and beyond to ensure we were welcomed and that a discrepancy with our Loyalty Points was resolved quickly. Our stay was enhanced by the service and dedication provided by Isabel from Guest Experiences who worked really hard to ensure that our stay was as enjoyable as possible. Staff in the buffet restaurant are great with special mention to Faustino and Susana. We will definitely be returning back to our 'home in the sun'

Trip #3 to our Happy Place

This was our 3rd trip, we just love this place! What makes it so special for us is the Staff. They really are incredible people who work so hard to make our vacations as great as they can be. Delmar and his team work hard to keep us entertained both day and night, they do a fantastic job! Carlos in the Lobby Bar and Carlos at the Pool/Beach Bar are amazing along with the serving staff. Jennifer and Deysi are our favorites. Armando with Guest Services was so helpful. My husband had a few days that he wasn't feeling well. Armando checked in multiple times to see how he was feeling, offering anything he could do to assist. This resort offers so many options. You can relax in the jungle or be active and busy across all four hotels. The food is fantastic in both the buffet and the restaurants, so many to choose from. Can't wait for trip #4 next year!

Excellent service. Nestled in the jungle.

This is the 2nd time we’ve went to Sian Ka’an & it does not disappoint. This hotel is on the jungle side of the highway which we like because you’re surrounded by vegetation. It’s a short trolley ride across the hwy to the beach side where you can enjoy the other hotels. There’s an adults only pool on that side that was quite nice but the rest of that side is swarming with children (not what we’re looking for hence booking the adults only). We spent most of our time on the Sian Ka’an side and were happy there. Service was excellent. Delmar, Alex & Jimena were great entertainment. Eglaydy, Suemi, & Antonio working at the buffet and Carlos at the pool bar! If you treat the staff like people and not like servants (unfortunately witnessed this) you will have a much better experience. Learning a bit of Spanish goes a long way! Food was good but we had a difficult time booking Al-a-carte restaurants because the hotels were at 99% capacity. This wasn’t an issue the last time we came. You can download the Bahia App and make reservations there in advance. We ended up speaking to guest services who helped us get better dinner times. We always found something great at the buffet though so weren’t disappointed. I would have to note that it’s a bit of an older crowd at this hotel (50+), so it’s a quieter atmosphere. If you want to party there’s a club and casino on the other side. All in all would recommend this place

    Sian Ka’an -thank you

We had a fabulous 10 night holiday in May. Our 1st floor room was clean and adequate (we only slept in our room so we didn’t need luxury!). The pool areas, hotel and resort were spotless. The main pool got loud at times with foam parties and games, but we moved to a quieter pool, so not a problem. But come evenings it was peaceful and quiet. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Particularly Ana and Miriam in the buffet restaurant. The food choices were superb. The food we ate at the various restaurants was okay but not great, some better than others, the Maiko, Thali and Dolce Vito were our favourites. We downloaded the Bahía Príncipe hotel app 10 days before we arrived to check in online and it allocated restaurants to eat in every night automatically. I would recommend doing this! Having access to the 4 hotel/resorts with buggy transport running all day was fabulous. Have a walk around the Hacienda market for your gifts for home. We went to see the Origen show, I can recommend this. Fabulous. For such a good price too. This was also booked via the Bahía app and charged to our room bill. The wildlife and nature is just amazing. Birds, Coati, Racoons, Iguanas and Agouti everywhere. Trips done, Coba Ruins, with 2 cenotes. Plus snorkelling with sea turtles and another cenote swim. Both excellent. These were booked via TUI.
