    Disappointing Stay

Pros: Gorgeous beach and beautiful views. A few staff members stood out with fantastic customer service: Ricardo (preferred club), Yussell and Rudi (bellhops), Kenia, Mario, Armando, and Rosanna (Market Café), and Amelia and Evelyn (spa). Cons: Unfortunately, my recent visit to this resort was disappointing in a number of ways. The trip started off badly when we were informed that the room we reserved for our annual girls' trip was not available. We were advised that there were only four double rooms in the category we chose, two of which were already booked and the other two were being renovated. On day two, we were told that we could move into a double room in another building door the next day, but when we arrived at the counter to pick up keys, we were told that it was also unavailable and offered a "upgrade" to a king oceanfront room. We accepted the offer. If we were going to continue our vacation with one king bed and a rollaway bed, we might as well have a larger suite with better views and a plunge pool. During our visit, the property was undergoing construction, which not only made the building area of the property unsightly but also made it hard to relax or easily navigate the grounds due to the noise and areas blocked off. We chose the Preferred Club level expecting a higher-quality experience; however this was not the case. The Preferred Club bar was constantly out of several premium liquors, including those promised for that tier. Additionally, the Preferred Club lounge was not conveniently located near the Preferred rooms, making accessing those alleged "elite" amenities more of a headache than a benefit. Dining options were limited as well. One restaurant was closed the entire time, and on most nights, only two restaurants and the buffet were available, resulting in limited options that became repetitious quickly . The UVC reps were also quite pushy. What disturbed us the most was the lack of openness, she was introduced as a concierge at check-in with no clear indication of who she was, and it felt deceptive to be passed off to them without explanation. This was our third stay at a Secrets' location, and it did not live up to the brand's service and quality standards. There was virtually no entertainment at this facility, with the majority of events taking place at the adjacent family-friendly property. We purposefully chose an adult-only hotel and had no desire to visit the child-friendly property next door. In hindsight, I should have believed the reviews before deciding to vacation at this resort. I've learned my lesson. Overall, I felt that the stay did not live up to expectations. I hope management addresses these concerns so that future travelers can enjoy the relaxing, higher quality resort experience they deserve.

    Definitely a bad decision.

Food was absolutely terrible. Latch missing on room door, definitely a safety concern. Went for our anniversary, will never return or recommend.

    Nice Cozumel All Inclusive

I just returned from a trip to Cozumel for my birthday where my wife and I stayed at the Secrets Aura. This was my 6th time to Cozumel. I previously stayed at the Aura many years ago before it was a Secrets and also at the Allegro 2x and Iberostar.l 2x. I was a little worried about staying at the Secrets Aura based on some of the reviews on Trip Advisor. I stayed in 2 different rooms because I arrived the day before my wife. I started in a basic room (4425) and then moved to a Premium Oceanfront room (912). Both rooms were good, the premium Oceanside was fantastic. No issues with hot water in either room, both rooms in good condition and well maintained. The pools are nice, food is good, staff is very friendly and attentive. Everyone we talked with seemed to be enjoying the resort. There’s not many activities but that was fine for us. I think some of the bad reviews about this resort are people that have unrealistic expectations. This may be on the lower end for a Secrets but that’s the same for all the other chain resorts in Cozumel. If you want super high end food, amenities or activities stay on a different island or go to some Four Seasons. But if you want a nice resort with a great beach and access to high quality scuba diving then the Secrets is a good choice.

    Not bad

Pretty good for a budget all inclusive. Good variety of restaurants. Food generally good. Rooms are clean but it seems like all 3 of our rooms had something wrong with them. Staff generally great, a few surly people at the front desk. Hard sell on a time share at check-in, be warned. They charge a ridiculous dock fee if you want to have anyone besides their people pick you up The good booze "runs out" pretty quick for the day

    Good Location Good Staff

Secrets was good. Little run down but nice enough. Didn't have any wait for any of the restaurants except the teppenyaki place which is impossible because it is only one table. Like many mentioned must go to the beach very early for a seat. I would not agree again to listen to the Hyatt vacation package pitch. They offer hotel vouchers and promise only 90 minutes and no pressure. This was a lie as it took up 3 hours of our first morning/afternoon and at the end we were pitched and pressured by 3 different individuals. Not worth the vouchers in my opinion. Highly recommend booking a snorkeling trip. They are great. Also resort activities are great and Wendy and Axel are excellent. Rosana at the breakfast buffet is fantastic and thoughtful.
