Astonishingly bad resort
I’m having a hard time finding good things to say about this resort. We went with another couple and got preferred ocean view rooms. Firstly, there is literally NO difference between a preferred package and regular package other than checking in at a separate location, and having access to a pool table. Don’t waste your money. Preferred check in- they drag you across the entire resort to the preferred lounge- and I am thoroughly convinced that checking in through that method takes 10x longer than it would have at the regular lobby. Our room was alright, some minor issues (which we were assured by the concierge that they’d be taken care of the next morning (surprise, they never fixed anything throughout the entire stay)). The other couple we were with were at the “new” side of the resort, their side didn’t have hot water for 4 days, they finally were able to be moved over to dreams after 3 days. They also had 3 hour water shutdowns every afternoon and didn’t bother telling anyone- the public access bathrooms were left in an apocalyptic state as a result. The food was mid tier, and that’s being incredibly generous. We’ve seen better food at 3 star resorts in Cuba.. by the time food service would get to you, everything was cold and soggy. The buffets are the smallest I’ve ever seen- like continental breakfast buffet at a hotel tiny. Gohan and another restaurant at dreams were closed entirely, their hibachi books out 2 days in advance and there’s seating for 6 in total at a time. All restaurants have minimal seating- we were waiting over an hour each time we wanted to go to a restaurant, and the portions were so small we would all have to go to the buffet afterwards. If you like peace and quiet, secrets and dreams are not for you. The resorts are so small, that they would run karaoke and other games right beside wherever you were eating overlapping the ambient music of the restaurant buffet. The beach is nice, although with them renovating sunscapes, and also doing renovations at both dreams and secrets, it is impossible to find a pool or beachfront without the sound of power tools right behind you. (Also they were using concrete saws right beside the kids pool at dreams without water, blasting everyone with concrete cutting dust) if you’ve saved up your money for a dream vacation, avoid this place at all cost. it is a luxury hotel pricing for a budget experience. the day before we were leaving we saw a wedding party arrive, and couldn’t help but feel so terrible for them.

Secrets Aura Jairo
We are here for 10 days and the service we received on the beach from Jairo was outstanding. He was very friendly and always checked to see what we need. We were sad when he moved to Dreams and wished he was at Secrets for the rest of our vacation. See you next time Jairo❤️

First impressions are Lasting Impressions
We arrived Thursday Dec 4th and we are here until the 11th. Finally a hot shower after 3 days of complaining! They even changed our room on Friday because of the water issue. I have numerous complaints and can only say 1 THING!! DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!! YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!! First time and the Last time

Overall great customer service and views, but food and resort are disappointing
I would love to give 5 stars but unfortunately it's a 2-3 for me. I'm going 3 because the people and views are truly exceptional. Customer service was fantastic! SO many names stand out as having made the trip extra special: Santos, Luis, Rodrigo, and Hibachi chef and bartender in the restaurants were great! Virginia at Oceana hostess and her whole team there was really great. Truly Oceana and Bordeaux service teams were all wonderful! Fast and friendly, everything was a "yes! regardless of ask! I so appreciated that as I wanted to try lots of flavors and they were all for it! Yussell at bellhop was an incredible support at my service all week long! Jorge Miguel at the pools was great! Karina at the front desk was wonderful! The views around the resort were fantastic! The magician at the Dreams magic show and servers at the Dreams pizza place were great. The Coati at the Dreams buffet adorable! Views from the resort were stunning, especially every night around sunset. Incredible! Very cool too to have a pier with the resort where you could get picked up by boats for excursions. Did not love having to pay $10/day to use it though. Cons: The resort is very old and dated, not attractive at all. Rooms were bland, many things were broken (safe was broken, toilet not well functioning, many people reported water issues, layout was not very practical. Food quality and options were worst I've had across UVC properties. I barely enjoyed any daytime options and evening options were limited and not exciting. I would not go back to this resort because of all the cons and b/c food for me truly makes the difference. Entertainment at Secrets was also overall boring at nights. Daytime with Wendy and her team was great, but nights were disappointing. Loved the people I met but wouldn't go back. I do recommend folks visit Chaakanab up the road - I swam with manatee and that was awesome!

Honeymoon in Paradise
The resort is tucked away from the Hustle and bustle of the City/Port. Being on our honeymoon we preferred an adult only resort, however were a little disappointed that it was a bit of an older crowd (we are in our 40's), we wanted a little more liveliness and fun. We were there for 10 nights & heard some guest having issues with no hot water or water issues in general. Fortunate for us, we did not have any of those issues. The staff is AMAZING...everyone...bartenders (Mauricio), waiters/waitresses (Oscar & Vividiana), truly everyone that even just walked past us. Now the stars of the "show" for us in making our stay fun and friendly and entertaining were Temu and Wendy. As Entertainment staff they are far and beyond great, we truly felt like we were with friends when around them.
