Beautiful people/ Service. Not handicap friendly

First, I’d like to say That Dreams is very nice because the people give superb service. However the Place is huge with lots of walking and stairs and it can be challenging for a person not able to move around a lot because of the many stairs and no access to the pool from walk out rooms because of no railings nor was there a working elevator for use to get to the upper levels. There is no premium liquors at the bars and to get “some” brands of Top shelf liquor you must upgrade. Don’t look for shrimp and lobster either unless you’re paying extra. It was extremely difficult to eat at the Oriental restaurant and I never made it. In the World cafe is a buffet style spread that’s ok at best but the dilligence of the people is second to none. The A/C was broken so it was extremely warm in the dining area. Cate and friendliness of the staff is what made the difference in our stay. There was plenty of fun and entertainment so it all worked out well. I discovered that this is the older Resort and we eventually saw newer Dreams Resorts that we’re a few hundred Dollars more in cost but in my opinion would make a huge difference in our experience in Punta Cana. Although I wouldn’t book here again it was a memorable experience for a first time with my wife. I’ve been to the DR several times before this trip so I was a little upset upon arrival and understanding of the deficient amenities offfered. Drinking and Partying smoothed everything out. And my wife was pleased so it’s a Win for Her. I suggest that everyone do their research before booking no matter what prices seem greater in the deals offered. Once you get to your destination you want to be happy not upset or hurting because of unexpected details that could make or break your vacation. All said... Punta Cana owes us nothing. And Thank God for the Beautiful and Friendly people employed there!

Beautiful Resort

The resort was beautiful and felt very rich in decor and design. The premises was kept up well and there were always landscapers there for maintenance. The food was often overcooked at the restaurants, however the resort hosts many beach lunches where one could find fresh food (sometimes even spanish food) that never disappointed. There's always something to do

Horrible experience

I was robbed a few hundred dollars from my book bag while it sat next to a chair while I swam in the pool with my son. My bag ended up missing and so did my slippers and my son’s. The only reason why I carried my cash is because I wanted to tip the employees. Although some employees were concerned, security didn’t do much to help. In fact one of the employees told me it was most likely one of his coworkers. The rooms were really old but clean. The pool was alright and the buffet was good. No follow-up has yet occurred since the incident. I personally wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Worth the trip

Stayed at Dreams Punta Cana from 7/28 to 8/04. Check in was fairly easy and the service excellent. The rooms as seen from other reviews are a bit dated but the bed was comfortable, the shower worked, the mini refrigerator is stocked daily. The room is used to get ready for dinner and to sleep so is quite adequate. The food is very good with many selections. The Himitsu restaurant was a little under par for our tastes but was not an issue. The beach has a lot of seaweed but the staff is always trying to keep ahead of it. The pool is amazingly big. If it is crowded in one spot just go to another. You can always find a spot. The only reason for not getting 5 stars for the beach is the seaweed which is not a fault of the resort. Lastly, the service you receive is as good as any I have seen in the Caribbean. Someone was always willing to help if you had any issue.

What's to Love

The refreshing champagne and chilly towels that welcome you into beach bliss.

As of June 2018 you can bring your furry friend along!

The massive, aahh-mazing pool that stretches from the lobby to the beach.

The 1,643-square foot on-site casino. Lady luck is waiting.

The Deluxe Swim-Out room. You'll feel like royalty, or a rock star. (Or a royal rock star.)

The flamingos, peacocks, parrots, turtles and more - it's like a tropical zoo.

Explorer's club (kids 3-12) with everything from sand castle contests to Plant a Tree & Corn Harvest Project.

Red Cross certified staff supervise the aforementioned club. A relief, right?

Parents get a pager from the Explorer's club, should they be needed for anything.

Chilling in the spa's Zen garden after the Tropical Oasis Body Wrap.

The FREE windsurfing and sailing lessons. (Gotta love free.)

Seaside dining with only the stars and candles to light your night. (There's a fee, but go for it).

What We'd Change

You'll want to keep an eye on the schedule for the restaurants, but there are so many options your taste buds will rejoice in their around-the-world tour.

Why You Should Go

It's 60-minute drive from the airport, but you can relax - you're already in earth-heaven.

Upgrade to the Preferred Club, get a private lounge & beach, and much more.

Browse the Dominican market with fine handicrafts, hand-made jewelry and more.

For some "you time," there's yoga/stretching and aerobics.

Our world-class golf courses are near. The concierge can hook you up.

Saddle up and go horseback riding. It costs, but it's magical.

Get starry-eyed with the Stargazing Rock 'n Roll party and movies under the stars on the beach.

Tennis (and clinics) are here - nothing like hitting the court under the palms.

Head to the baseball cage for some family throwing and bonding time.

Play Mexican Bingo and after you win, hit the water cycles.

The ocean trampoline is a fav among the kiddos.
