Amazing and relaxing holiday. Wonderful location and friendly staff.

Amazing and relaxing holiday. Wonderful location and friendly staff. Rooms were large and clean with great views over the bay. Staff were always smiling and friendly, nothing seemed to be a problem. Food was good although I can see how some people may find that the choice becomes a little repetitive by the end of two weeks. Restaurants needed to be booked in advance but we had no problem with booking the one we wanted on any particular evening. The theme nights for Halloween and Antiguan Independence Day were particular highlights and the staff clearly put a lot of effort into setup. The beaches almost made it obligatory to sit under a palm tree with a rum cocktail, very relaxing. Met several people who were retuning to the hotel, in one case for many years and I could see why. Could not fault The Verandah.

    Lovely holiday

Great holiday. Lovely spot. Food, service, and entertainment a little mixed. Highlights were the beach party and watersports, particularly the Hobie Cat trips with Lennon.

    Wonderful Experience

I won a 5 day stay from Real Simple magazine! I had a wonderful trip - I like the layout of the resort. It has a cottage-y feel which is nice compared to other resorts on the island that look like hotel complexes. The beach is small but clean and beautiful. They have these circle rafts that allow you to lay half in the water, half not, for sunbathing. I thought those were genius. The main pool also has beach chairs partially in the water too when you want to be cooler. It is literally down the street from the Devil's Bridge National Park. I highly recommend doing the short walk over. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The help desk person was very knowledgeable helping us pick excursions. Make sure you make reservations at the restaurants asap! The breakfast buffet was just okay but the food at the restaurants was good. Especially the pizza! I'm not sure the $50 fancy restaurant is worth the extra fee. The service was top tier but it's attached to the buffet restaurant. From my spot, I was literally looking in on the buffet which kind of cheapened it. Oh and make sure you have small bills for tips. I was hoping I would be able to leave a larger dollar amount when I checked out and it would go into a tip pool of somekind but we had to name specific employees to leave tips for. The island was gorgeous, the resort was luxurious; it was just a fantastic experience.

    Lovely resort.

Recently returned from The Verandah Resort and had a very enjoyable stay. The resort was kept spotlessly clean, staff all helpful and friendly and there was always a good choice of food. plenty of pool/beach towels contrary to previous reports, except when some guest took 3 each. It is a shame the Americans attending pickleball break and ignored the smart casual dress in evening and turned up in sweaty sports gear and baseball caps. Is too hard to shower and change. Any bad reviews are not a true reflection of the resort, a lovely relaxing resort.

    Wonderful vacation at The Verandah

We have just returned from a wonderful 12 night stay at The Verandah Resort. The resort is in the west of Antigua and in a fairly quiet area, but only 30 minutes taxi ride to St John’s or Shirley Heights - a great venue for the Thursday and Sunday night sunset parties! The Verandah is spread over a fairly large area, and with 4 pools and 2 beaches nowhere ever felt busy. Moving around was easy with the buggies, and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The 2 beaches are man-made and the sea has a lot of seaweed/algae, but the Rasta beach has a lovely swimming pool on the beach, and, literally 3 minutes walk from the hotel is Longbay Beach - a public beach with beautiful white sand and crystal clear water. This can get busy with cruise ship passengers so best to check which days have no ships in (the same applies if visiting St John’s). If visiting St John’s, try lunch at either Hemmingways or Alligators! The food in all eating areas at the hotel was great, probably the best we have had in an “all inclusive’’ hotel. The speciality restaurants were excellent. Special thanks to Gus and all his catering team who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Also thanks to Michelle and her team in Guest Services for being very helpful and great fun. If we had to find any fault, perhaps the rooms were looking a little tired and the safe deposit box has a key which you have to carry with you, rather than a keypad. Otherwise everything was fantastic, including the courtesy shower rooms available if you had a late departure. All in all we would highly recommend The Verandah Resort, and Antigua, and we will certainly return. Carol and Michael Sutcliffe, UK.
