Desparately Needed A Vacay!

I am going to be VERY honest in my review. Cheap Caribbean.com reservation process was very good. Doug was awesome to work with. The Warwick, in my opinion, was OK but we would rate it as a 3-star facility. The rooms were very basic - definitely not luxurious. We had a double-double (2 double beds) resort view. We did have a partial view of the harbor from our 5th floor window (no balcony). If I counted correctly, there was 55 rooms with balconies and the 5 on the lower floor would be hard pressed to have a water view from their balconies. I sent an e-mail to the resort prior to arrival to request an upgrade to a king harbor view, but never received a response. I also requested an upgrade upon arrival, but none were available. After reading all of the reviews on-line about the long lines to make restaurant reservations, I e-mailed the reservations concierge prior to arrival to request dinner reservations at the Edgewater Steak House and Abbiacco Italian restaurants. Our first night we ate at the steak house. We had 6 p.m. reservations (1st reservations of the evening) and were seated promptly. Our server took our order as well as the table to our left about 5 minutes after our order. The tables to the left and right were served their steaks while we continued to wait. Shortly thereafter, we received food, although not our order. We received the order from the table to our left and they received our order. No big deal, we ate what we were served and chuckled about it with the other table since they also ate the order they were served although not what was ordered. We ate breakfasts and lunches at the buffet and the beachside grill. No complaints on the food nor the service. One evening, we ate at the buffet when they were featuring Tex-Mex. Excellent food and very good service. We did not get to keep our early reservations for Abbiacco and when we tried to reschedule, the only meal times available were after 9 p.m. which I simply could not do. The Hog Bar (beach/pool side bar) was the ONLY bar open until 6 p.m. when the lobby bar would open. The Hog Bar service was OK. They did have some premium liquors. Employees definitely were swamped 99% of the time. The music was loud and was not what we would have selected. The Activities guys did their best to get people to participate but there wasn’t a lot of participants. The lobby bar seating areas were very small and could not accommodate the crowds. The music was 1970 & 80ish and again, pretty loud with people trying to talk over the music, so it was a loud gathering in the evenings. The bartenders were very attentive, but again, they were swamped. The beach chair marking was prevalent with towels and personal articles being placed early in the morning and lasted throughout the day without the people that marked the chairs. There was no coffee available until the buffet opened at 7 a.m. All in all, we had a good time. The staff was helpful throughout our stay. Would I stay at the Warwick again? Maybe. I would check the RIU and Atlantis first. I did enjoy the adults only setting that the Warwick offers. I have nothing against kids, but when I’m on vacation, my first preference is for not having kids running amuck.

It is what it is. Cool.

This hotel is ok to stay at for a quick getaway from winter. There are few things I didn’t appreciate. For example, the pool hours: 10am-6pm. Considering you are not on the side of the beach, pool hours should be earlier and stay open later. Also the whole making a reservation for the shuttle to take you to Cabbage beach ( They don’t even have the rose island option anymore) yet it fills up faster than taking the elevator down to the main floor . There should be an ongoing shuttle service to and from. The rooms can use a little more tlc and cleaning. My only other gripe is at the steak at Edgewater Grill was a terrible cut, nothing but fat. Other than this, It was just OK. The food at the buffet hall was pretty standard, most of it tasty though. There really isn’t much entertainment at this hotel. I had a lot more fun visiting the Atlantis. However, I really appreciate it it being an adult however, I really appreciate it being an adult only hotel.

Overall a decent experience at the Warwick. This is by no means a luxury resort, however is a reasonable option for those on a budget. Pros: - Food options were well prepared and flavorful. Lots of healthy options and a variety of cuisines. - Very reasonable pricing - Excellent bartenders (Forest, Jamal, Dinero) and activities directors (Tavares, Linen). Attentive front desk staff - Clean, well kept pool and lobby areas Cons: - Not enough wait staff at restaurants or for pool side service. The staff was often unavailable or not very interested in attending to guests. - Cheap furniture in the bedrooms, could use updating. - Extremely loud AC unit in the room
