Wish I had a better review

Rooms were clean, but very simple. No refrigerator in the rooms even though we specifically requested one when we booked out trip months in advance. We went multiple families and requested rooms near each other. That didnt happen. 2 freaken warm waters daily In a room that's fits 4. And if you called to ask for more they said No. The whole trip started wrong from check-in. No customer service from staff in front which is the most important when reaching your destination. Everything was a No. Staff around the hotel was very nice, cleaning ladies very nice but the front desk is horrible. NO shows, No fun activities, watered down alcohol. Food was Ok. Only a few places to choose from.. If you want to snack at night, enjoy snacking on cold fries and uncooked pizza. The crust was seriously still dough. The beach was clean( even though way smaller than it looked in the pictures) , pool was beautiful and clean, and we got some really nice pictures.Hotel on the outside was beautiful as well. Saving up for our 1st trip to the Dominican Republic and honestly disappointed. We expected way more. No I will never go back to this hotel and I wouldn't recommend it to any of my family either. I would rather take my survival chances and go to Punta Cana. I can't say Cheapcaribbean was much help either with the whole process either. Especially when calling about all the deaths and possibly changing or asking for upgrades or discounts due to all the Dominican Republic recent deaths, they weren't willing to offer any help either after calling for 2 days trying to even reach someone. I wish I had better things to say about the Hotel and Cheap Cari bean but No. Your pretty much on your own.

Vacation

We had booked a king size bed and ended up with two double beds. When asked if it was possible to change. They said they’d let us know. Every time we asked they again said they’d let us know. The bed practically felt as if it was going to fall to the floor due to the legs being unbalanced. Other than that it was a wonderful experience. Staff was so welcoming.

An average enjoyable vacation

Overall, the resort is nice. The pool area was beautiful. It was steps from the beach which was the best part. However, there were too many vendors on the beach. My room was simple not too many amenities. We did have issues with the toilet, hair dryer and sink. The staff was pleasant and hard working. The three restaurants they feature were good but I expected more variety and some authentic food it was a bit disappointing. The hotel is in a nice area Caberete was very quiet and it was about 20 minutes from the airport. Overall, I enjoyed my stay!

Would not recommend

Just came back from this place, stayed for 10 day ( Easter 2019 week). Hotel( 2-beds room) was booked 5 months prior to the trip, entering the room found ONE (king) bed, which I supposed to share with my 17 years old son. At the reception I was told that they’re all booked and can’t help me. Asked for supervisor, waited 30 min- it was a guy who was strolling around all this time doing absolutely nothing. He explained again that they’re very busy this week and unfortunately for me... they offer 2-bed rooms ONLY to the families with 3 people. The only way they can help me-add small bed to given room till the end of the week( Easter weekend), promising to contact me As soon as 2-bed room will be available. Needless to say they never did, I didn’t also just because being afraid it could be worse. Resort stays right on the main road, territory really small, looks clean and taken care of. Houses look nice from outside, but... AWARE of few generations of COCKROACHES(we got room in the Main building): so kept everything inside our suitcase and entered bathroom with caution. Woke up one morning with NO cold water which means NOT BEING ABLE USE a BATHROOM or SHOWER( because it’s in the main building- NO PUBLIC BATHROOM worked either). Called reception every hour, problem was solved only at 2pm. The buffet is small and VERY poor. I travel every year, not - never had a problem like that. Food either overcooked( vegetables) or not cooked enough( rice for example), No fresh vegetables in the morning( it’s important for some). No hamburgers or french fries (never!)which always on the menu of “all inclusive” resorts and is a first choice (if you’re not a fried plantain lover). There’re 2-3 more places to eat on the resort: Mexican, Italian restraints, can be visited with reservations. Attempted to visit Italian: left because couldn’t choose anything from two(2) main meals offered. Information that can be important for women: no ANY body lotion in resort store( shampoo, soap, sunscreen, aftersun gels available). The beach is nice, no big hotels nearby, not crowded. There’s very strong current on this side of the island ALL the time, makes it IMPOSSIBLE to SWIM at any time of the day. So pool is the only option, but it’s so small ( part of it jacuzzi, part- the area for the chairs standing in water, part is kids area-very shallow) and full of people most of the time- if you’re a swimmer: that is NOT the right place at all. Only thing you can do: walking on the beach, enjoy the ocean view and kiteboarders. I would strongly NOT recommend that hotel to anybody

Hotel Description

Viva Wyndham Tangerine: Private Beach, Personal Paradise

Tired of the humdrum and ready for some action? The all-inclusive Viva Wyndham Tangerine lies smack dab in the heart of Puerto Plata in the town of Cabarete. The resort is on a newly expanded private beach, featuring complimentary loungers and towels, so the only things you need to bring are plans for all the fun that is just waiting for you.

Tangerine's expansive freshwater pool offers prime real estate for aqua adventures. Parents can unwind and relax in their own oasis. And, kids get to splash around in their own, supervised pool courtesy of the Kids' Program.

The resort's 4 dining options keep stomachs full and happy while providing all the variety you want with a touch of Caribbean flair. The Dominican Republic and Puerto Plata boasts its own flavorful take on food that you'll find delicious. After dinner, there's nearby nightlife, but the resort's live, nightly entertainment and disco keep the party hoppin' close to home.

After a night of dancing, try a different sort of shimmy on the majestic, rolling waters just off the shores of Cabarete. Kayaking, sailing, windsurfing and kite-surfing are yours for the asking. Back at the resort, there's an adult game room for a touch of friendly indoor competition. Enjoy a bit of indoor pampering at the full-service spa or go mountain biking and horseback riding if you're looking for something with speed and adventure. If you just want to dominate the competition with your blistering serve or enviable bicep curls, the hard-surfaced tennis court and fitness center are happy to oblige.

When it's time to wind down, your comfy room is waiting just for you. A cushy bed offers a superb spot to crash, and a mini bar stands ready to help you relax as you plan your next day in paradise.
