Great Value!

This is our second time to Puerto Vallarta but, the first time at this resort. We booked this as an all inclusive trip through a cheap Caribbean site. Villa Del Mar is outstanding! It’s part of the larger very impressive timeshare property Villa Del Palmar. With our all inclusive package we shared amenities with the larger property. Check in was a little slow (15 to 20 Min) the desk agent that helped us was very good though we cannot remember her name, sorry! She actually helped us several times during the stay. It seemed like it was more the process than the agent that made it longer check in time. This being a timeshare you are immediately handed off to your “concierge” who is more like a sales agent. After a long day of travel in my opinion this is not the optimal time to make a sales pitch on owning, signing up for the full sales pitch at their other better property for a full day or trying to sell us on excursions and tours multiple times. Be prepared to stand your ground and say no thank you several times. The property grounds as a whole are extremely nice. Very well groomed with 3 swimming pools and 2 nice sized hot tubs. The beach front is gorgeous, get out there early as shaded seats fill up fast. Although, the awesome staff is more than willing to literally dig a hole and plop an umbrella by your seats. Villa Del Mar is tucked away off to the front of the resort. It has a fabulous pool that was largely where the people who wanted to have some quite time to sun themselves laid out. It was almost as if the residents and guests of Villa Del Palmar didn’t know it existed. Which I’m not going to lie was really nice. We were offered an upgrade of $30 a night at check in to move to Villa Del Palmar with a better view. So glad we didn’t. Our balcony overlooked the quite pool away from all the activities and families. It was a pleasure to sit out on our balcony and have a drink amongst the palm trees. The resort also has 3 restaurants and a sports bar on site, which are extremely nice as it was an all inclusive package. The staff again, was absolutely awesome! You receive a pleasant hello from everyone you walk by or come into contact with. We have to give some shout outs to Manuel our server at the El Patron on most days. Francisco our man with the micheladas on the beach and Daniel our man with the micheladas at the back pool. Also, the breakfast crew Celestino, Juan Carlos, Heriberto, Rigoberto. You were all great! A fabulous plus was the Deli/Mini mart on property where you could grab any forgotten items as well as beer for the balcony and a quick bite or sandwich, although not included in the all inclusive. FYI. You also received free Wi-Fi in that area with a purchase from the deli. WiFi was available resort wide for a daily price, but in this day and age WiFi should be free everywhere. We had a Junior Suite which was spacious, super clean, and had a fridge and kitchenette which was a bonus. The only problem with the room was the pillows on the bed were really unusable and the shower didn’t get anywhere near “hot” water - mildly irritating but did not ruin the experience at all. Either resort would be a really good value for the price. We definitely preferred the Villa Del Mar for the more private feel. Still going with 5 stars even with the few irritations nothing can really ruin 85 degrees and sunny everyday.

Felt like a second home.

Impeccably manicured grounds. Excellent service. Food and drinks were delicious. Pools and hot tubs were nice. Lots of beach chairs available. Local beach merchants were very polite-they sold some beautiful merchandise but if you are not interested, just say no thank you and they will respect your privacy. Very happy with our vacation and would definitely return.

Would recommend

Although this isn't the nicest or biggest place I've ever stayed, I would still give it 3.5-4 stars. It was clean, the bed was pretty comfortable and the AC worked. It was a large room and we even had a small kitchen. The alcohol was great at this resort, they actually have Absolute Vodka or Jack Daniels versus 'clear and brown liquor,' which are all included in the all-inclusive. So that always helps the hangovers ;) The food was all delicious here as well, we had zero complaints there. There wasn't a huge variety of restaurants or buffets like some resorts have, but what they did have was all very good quality and fresh. The only real complaint we had was at the beach. Whether it's the resorts fault or not, there are people who walk up and down trying to sell you stuff, so literally every 1-3 minutes there's a new person who walks right up to you and asks if you want to buy their stuff. I don't think the resorts should allow this, but maybe they can't help it. It makes relaxing extremely hard though. We ended up only spending a total of 2-3 hours out on the beach because of this. We stayed by the pool for the remainder of our trip, as it was way more relaxing there. The beach area was very nice though, for Puerto Vallarta the water was decently blue in this specific area and the little cove the resort sits on was nice. The beaches were clean and we enjoyed the overall area a great deal. It was a 5 minute walk to the grocery store or to the malls and to quite a few restaurants and clubs. It was only a 10 minute cab ride to the Malecon as well. We would recommend this place and would even stay here again if we get the chance to return to the area.

Check the fine prints

Food is excellent! Service is great but Villa del Mar is an old biulding. I cannot remember reading anywhere when I was searching for a resort that this building has no elevator. Our room was on the 4th floor. I talked to the front desk on the first day for a room change but there would be a huge charge for a room upgrade. So I did not change anymore. Pick Villa del Palmar when you make a reservation. Do not pick Villa del Mar. Both are in the same resort. Villa del Mar is the first building in that resort. Do not go there. That was the only problem though. The resort itself is great. I enjoyed the food and nightly shows and daily activities!
