velas review

We thought the resort was lovely. Over spring break it was very busy. You did need to book both dinner early and get a pool/beach seat by 0730 if you wanted a specific spot or time. The rooms were clean and well kept. Our bed was comfortable. After only 5 days, we grew very tired of the same restaurant-Andrea, even though it was quite good. We would not eat dinner at the one on the beach because of the bug problem. They need more restaurants. The service was quite impressive and our massages on the beach were fantastic. They need to rent beach toys such as kayaks, paddle boards, boggy boards like the adjacent hotels. The grounds were lovely and clean. The tennis courts were very well kept.

Nice Family Vacation

The resort is great for a family vacation with young children. The pool area, beach and kids program are great. The grounds are well taken care of and are beautiful and adds to the relaxation. We loved that the pool areas which had a great mix of sun and shaded areas. The waiters for the pool area were very friendly and mostly attentive. The restaurants were good and had a good diverse menu so you could find something you would like. The waiters were very attentive. We loved the room service and having breakfast on the balcony overlooking the beautiful grounds. The beds were comfortable and the room very clean and the temperature easily regulated. There is a nightly small show in the lobby. The lobby area is the only bar area for the evening. There are tables and chairs is a large lobby area. The resort is mostly geared to daytime activities vs night time.

Excellent place to stay in Puerto Vallarta

We had a wonderful time at the Velas Vallarta! Our room was very clean and plenty of room for all 5 of us. It also had a large lanai (that you could access from both bedrooms) with a beautiful view of the grounds and the ocean! Beach was amazing! Waves for the kids to have fun in. Guards on duty, too. There are quite a few beach vendors (as with any place like this!) but they were all friendly and not aggressive. Our kids went parasailing right there from our beach. They loved that! The kids also loved the ice cream stand right at the beach. Of course they visited that very often being all inclusive! The only complaint we have (and it really isn't even a complaint...) is that we wish there were more restaurant options. There are 2 restaurants (one fancy-reservations-formal dress) and the other beachside (part indoor, part outdoor). Can't beat the view while eating there! Mostly we just ate the buffet (changed daily) although there are menu options. Fancy place we didn't care for as much (although the service was amazing). Room service is always an option, too! Also, during the daytime they have little "food cart" places you could go by the pools and grab a hot dog or burger or tacos. We would definitely go there again! Thanks for making our family spring break trip to Puerto Vallarta amazing!

Great value!

Did the all inclusive resort with the flight and it was worth it! We had the studio room and it included a little living room area and kitchen which we didn't expect but appreciated. The room was very clean and the service was great, everyone was really friendly. The food at Ribera was its standard fair and we only ate at the fancier place, Andreas, once which was pretty good. The pool was clean. Most the activities provided were more geared towards retired folks and families, which is okay because it made the resort more of a calm, chill environment and less party like with younger people.

What's to Love

Smitten over that lazy river - pure refreshing relaxation, especially with the house specialty margarita in tow. (Heaven).

Rooms decorated in happy, Mexican inspired hues with sitting areas and terraces for extra comfort.

Stress-squashing massages by the beach with soothing ocean waves - beyond bliss.

Bountiful beachside palapas give you just enough shade - and a prime location to dip into the sea.

Early check-in and late check-out - maximize all that beach lovin'.

Delicious food - all day long - beachside, poolside, resortside. (Fact: you won't go hungry).

The fitness center lets you work off all that yummy guac and chips, and the adult beverages you lost count of.

What We'd Change

Bring shoes for the beach because the beach is a little rocky and the currents are strong at times, but you've got two chillin' pools to enjoy and the ocean views are so peaceful.

Why You Should Go

10-acre beachfront property that is only five minutes from the airport and in walking distance to Marina Vallarta (500 yacht-sized slips for viewing!) and an 18-hole golf course.

The Kids Club keeps your little loved ones entertained while you decompress beachside.

Activities are happening throughout the day - if you so wish to move from your lounger: Marina Vallarta walk, Bingo, Ping Pong, Black Jack - just to name a scant few.

For those tennis lovers out there, three lit tennis courts are ready for your sports prowess.

Walks along the beach, especially when the sun is about to set are beachtacular. Get your cameras ready.
