Cant get the smile off my face

Booked this vacation for our 20th anniversary and it was absolutely a fantastic choice. The hotel and grounds were just spectacular. they upgraded our room in honor of our anniversary and had champagne waiting in the room upon our arrival.the staff is as courteous and friendly as you could ever find and went out of their way to make sure you are taken care of with any requests. WE had a little snafu with a dinner one evening, but they just bent over backwards to make it right and they did!. the morning breakfast that was included with our reservation was nothing short of outstanding. I done know if you can find anything for breakfast that wasn't in the buffet. There are 3 restaurants on site and the food was great. It is a little pricey, but well worth that for the chefs creations. 3 beaches, kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling, games, full tennis facilities, the Buccaneer has it all. We didn't get to play golf on their 18 hole course, but we walked the course each day and it is a beautiful run. Very family oriented hotel with lots of kids having a great time with their families. We enjoyed watching the children on the beach having such a great time in the surf. Very good mix of families and couple here with something for everyone. We highly recommend this hotel and Cheap Caribbean was great to work with booking this for us. Ready to go back as soon as we can!

Buccaneer Escape

My daughter and I stayed for five nights last week and had the time of our lives. We were so pleased with every part of the stay--our room was lovely, food was excellent and we especially enjoyed Susanna at the Grotto Pool. I wish we could have stayed longer, and we will definitely go back at some point.I forgot how magical St. Croix is.

Resort Really Nice; Dining Experiences: Hmmm...

I really like this place. My daughter & I had a nice time here, although compared to other resorts, it leaves a little to be desired in terms of things to do for a teenager. We went to the beach our first day. 2nd day we took a cab into Christiansted & had a nice walk around the town & shore. Our 3rd day we took the island tour (the botanical gardens, an old sugar mill, & the Cruzan rum distitllery). These were nice activities, & we enjoyed them. All in all, the resort is kept up very nicely. We had a nice suite on the corner by the old sugar-mill, where they have a nice 'Welcome' party on Tuesday nights, with nice Hors d'oeuvres, drinks, & Jumbies (island ghosts on really tall stilts!) The only thing I would 'complain' about - is the service in the Terrace restaurant for dinner... We had occasion to visit it 3 times in our 4-night stay (We went the The Mermaid down by the beach on our 3rd night, which had great 'Fire Dancers' for entertainment right there on the beach & a Steel Drummer as well). The service at The Terrace - is - to put it mildly - uncaring, somewhat inhospitable, and... sloooooooow.... My daughter & I would come in right on time for our reservation, to be met the 2nd and 3rd visits - by no one. And when the young lady finally came up to us from behind the greeting desk, we were met with a frown & a look as if to say: "I really don't appreciate your having arrived here... I really hate this job - and you...". Seriously. No smile. No welcoming feeling. Just very matter-of-fact and the bare minimum of social grace - if any (not really...). The 1st night, we had to wait about 20 minutes for our table, even though we arrived a little early for our reservation time. I looked around the restaurant to see empty tables, so I couldn't understand the delay. When I asked the hostess (she seemed more like the manager of the restaurant), she explained that she didn't want the waitress to be overwhelmed, as she had just been sat a coupled of larger parties... Was that really OUR problem, though? We had arrived early for our reservation, were hungry, and were now being punished because they didn't have enough wait staff. The 3rd night's experience - after having been met by the lady with the sour/bored face, we decided to be sat in the 'Lounge' - where it took - I am not kidding - about 15 minutes to get the soft drinks my daughter & I ordered. The young gentleman who was our server seemed 'perky' & 'jokey' at first, but after I had to wave my arms to get his attention to see why it was taking sooooo looooong to get our 2 coca-colas (he simply would not look our way until I seriously had to wave my arms to get his attention...) - after that he seemed a bit put off by our being there. He even 'slid' a plate over to me from his side of our table - rather than 'placing' it gently near me. All in all, I would say the food is very good - if not great - at the 'Terrace' & 'Lounge' - but they need to work on their service... Seriously. I give the whole resort 4 palms because the rest of our stay was very pleasant and worth it, but if I were to rate our dining experiences alone - 1/2 star - and that's because the food was so good.

Elegant and more!

The resort is beautifully landscaped with a breathtaking view of the Caribbean from all angles. The staff is welcoming, efficient and guest focused. Food and service at the restaurants exceeded expectations. There is a Tuesday night reception for guests that immediately makes the guest feel a part of the "Family". This locally, family owned resort's owner maintains a friendly presence that doesn't exist in large corporate hotel chains....all adding to the charm of a totally captivating experience. Loved it!
