Wonderful getaway for 5 days

Paid for Preferred Ocean View, was upgraded to Preferred Ocean Front (Rm # 921). Amazing room with an amazing view. It had a wrap around balcony and was about 25 yards from the waters edge. Very comfortable bed, ice cold A/C (even in July), hot water, very clean, and no odors. The housekeeping staff did a fantastic job. We had great service at dinner, never had to wait for a drink, and were met with smiles and greetings everywhere we went. The food was good, not great but adequate. I would have liked to see more fajitas on the menu. The breakfast buffet was the best, the woman making the omelets did a fantastic job! Went diving 2 days with Dive House. Great diving in Cozumel, went out on Dive House II boat. Needs a handle at the ladder, otherwise a lot of fun, good crew. We didn't want to leave, will definitely be back.

Pleasantly Surprised

We read reviews prior to booking that some customers were unhappy with the food and decided to try anyways. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, especially the catch of the day. The one option we liked least was the rooftop sushi; it was just OK. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The room we we're in was in part of the older building and had a musty smell upon entering. The room itself was spacious, bright, and comfortable. The finishes in the room has a lot of small imperfections but the fridge was always stocked with drinks and we didn't travel to stay in our room anyways. The shower water never really got hot and, although the bathtub did get warm water, it did not stay plugged. The best part by far was the beauty outdoors. Free rentals onsite let us snorkel and see amazing things in the water. Great beaches, food options, and activities to have fun even on rainy days. The premiere pool was unbalanced with chemicals and made my skin itchy.

Secrets resort

The beach was beautiful however the resort itself needs really managed. There is no room in the bathrooms to store any of your personal items for a bathroom no cabinet spaces at all. we filled out a paper for time frame for room service cleaning to come in that only happened on one day that we were there for our 7-Day stay the remainder of the time we had to request once sometimes twice for them to come, the mini bar was only three or four items put in there without request the remaining of the time we had to always call or catch somebody in the hall and then they may or may not bring them once room service brought bottled water and a steam iron that should have already been in the closet retrieved some of our personal items off of our patio deck and put them in the closet not leaving the note should have never touched our personal items to begin with and left the patio door wide open I reported this immediately and they found out that it was the service person The food was okay not a wide variety a food that we actually found Other guest that we engaged with while there had room issues with molding in the rooms I am glad I got to visit Cozumel however unfortunately this particular Resort I would not give any more than a 3 rating out of five it definitely needs some restructuring

Vacation Stay at Secrets Aura Cozumel

NOT HAPPY! This was supposed to be our honey moon. Unfortunately for us it rained 24/7. Literally rained morning, noon, and night. Now I realize completely the weather has nothing to do with the resort, HOWEVER, there was nothing else in the resort to do accept eat and go to the beach or pool, which obviously we were unable to do. So you think they would have had some type of entertainment in liu of not being able to beach it or go to the pool. Entertainment in the evening was not what we expected. Very poor entertainment. The only other amenity that we can say was good was the gym. That's where we spent most of our time. Let me start off with our first experience. There was a sign/banner which was supposed to be on our door which had been on the floor when we first arrived that said Happy Honeymoon. When we walked into the room it was so cold, and I don't mean air conditioned cold, I am talking about so un home like - no pictures on the wall nothing nice to greet us in our room. The front desk staff were not nice either, spoke to the manager Carlos who gave us an attitude when we requested to change rooms. I looked for a dresser to put my cloths away and found out there are no dressers in the rooms, or that is what they told us. I was informed to hang my items up. Undergarments??? PJ's? Socks? Not even a small dresser - NOTHING. There were a couple of wooden things in the room but they had no draws - We have never been to ANY Resort that does not have dressers in the room! The bath tub was a nightmare. It kept clogging and water would be all over the floor, at one point I nearly broke my leg because I slipped on all the water on the marble floor, even with towels on the floor, it was CRAZY! The beach was very rocky and the pools were dirty. I am not sure if this was due to the weather, but either way, I was not happy with the service provided. I have attached the way we walked into our room with the towels on our bed. I have been at other resorts where they make animals or a little something welcoming you to your suite. We spoke to Carlos the Manager on duty that day and he did not seem interested in helping us at all, said they were very busy and full so he would see what he could do to change our room in a couple of days. He also stated the room he gave us was the BEST in the resort. So if that was the BEST, I most definitely would NOT go back nor would I recommend it. The food was good, but you would have to wait quite a long time, not only to get in but for the food to arrive. But food was good just the dining experience was annoying. Sorry to be so negative, it was just the worst trip we have ever taken, and we have taken many. Very, VERY disappointed.

What's to Love

Newly renovated in 2015-2016, this resort is all shiny, splashy new.

As of June 2018 you can bring your furry friend along!

The salvation of the cool towel and thirst-quenching welcome cocktail when arriving in paradise.

The sleek white, boxy architecture (very glam).

Hip suites with comfy beds that have private balconies or terraces and take-your-breath-away views.

Scuba diving at the epic Mesoamerican Barrier Reef and being awed by the fabled coral reefs.

You can take scuba lessons at the Dive House. Sweet.

The candlelight dinner for two on the beach while the purr of the waves serenades you.

Secrets box for private room service delivery - you don't ever have to see a human if you don't want to.

Snorkeling under the dock that boasts stingrays and parrot fish. (One beach lover even saw a barracuda).

The world-class spa with Seaweed Wraps, invigorating hydrotherapy and exotic indigenous treatments. Swoon.

A pier to wander out on and get hypnotized by the point where the blue water meets the azure horizon.

What We'd Change

Cozumel doesn't have as many activities as Cancun. After all, it is an island. But Secrets always has a lot of adult-only activities to keep you entertained.

Why You Should Go

You're just 20 minutes away from the airport so your rockin' vacay will start before you know it.

You're just 15 minutes away from downtown Cozumel. Just a $15 (U.S. dollars) to cab it there.

You can upgrade to Preferred Club which means better rooms, private swimming pool, and much more.

The mysteriously cool Chicen Itza and Coba Ruins are a short hop away. (Ooo-ahhh).

Lit tennis courts. Woot!

You can improve your game on an 18-hole golf course designed by the great Jack Nicklaus.

The largest beachfront in Cozumel is out back.

You can try you hand at kayaking, Hobie cats and water volleyball - don't be shy. Dive in!

Bring your aqua shoes - the beach is like finely ground seashells.

Most restaurants require men to wear long pants and no flip flops.

Probably no going shirtless or tank tops, unless you're a male Abercrombie model.
