The Royalton St. Lucia is a beautiful resort. Our stay was fantastic. Staff members at the resort are friendly and helpful. We would definitely return. You have to watch out for the immediate push to sit through a sales pitch when you arrive though.
We just came back from a 5 day stay at the Royalton. This review is a little lengthy & will be broken down by category (location, rooms, food, activities, beaches/pool, and excursions).
Location- The resort is on the north end of the island. The airport is on the sound end of the island. It’s an hour & 1/2 drive. The roads on the island are small and hilly as you make this trip.
Rooms- We had an ocean view room in building four. We choose not to do Hideaways (adult only) or diamond club (VIP) for this stay ended up being happy we didn’t. We loved the room. It was clean, comfy and had an amazing view. We did have some problems when the room was cleaned. Somehow she would forget to leave washcloths, hand towels or both. Some places we’ve traveled have been super worth the upgrading to a higher level. Here we did not feel it was. Hideaways added a seafood restaurant which is great if you can eat seafood. Diamond club did have a higher level of rooms, private beach & upgraded alcohol. If you are a big drinker and like your own space diamond club is a good place for you. When you arrive they will tell you that there is a welcome breakfast. This is really a pitch to buy into their loyalty program which is basically a time share. They’re kind of pushy with wanting you to go and trying to get you to buy it.
Activities-There were several activities for everyone. The kids club and water park seemed to keep the few kids we saw interested. We did the water aerobics class with Everett. He was super fun and made the class fun. He always spoke and was kind every time we saw him. He went as far as to learn everyone’s names who participated. He also did the boot camp class that we heard great reviews of.
Food- The food was a hit or miss. We really enjoyed the Tex-Mex place, Scores sports-bar, and the Steakhouse for dinner. I did not care for the Italian restaurant. We did not eat at the West Indian or Japanese restaurants. As for the buffet. We went for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was the better of the meals. There is a guy on the omelette station that makes great omelette. It was noticeable when he was gone. Most of the buffet was kind of blah! It was definitely not the best we’ve had. Let’s not forget the dessert/coffee shop! The ice cream and milkshakes are so good! I’m not a coffee drinker but they had a lot of request for coffees and provided a huge selection. The two baristas do a good job of keeping things moving.
Entertainment- There are some traditional resort style entertainment (lip sync, musicians, game shows, etc). I will say that night time isn’t as live as it could be. There was a dance party one night we were there which was fun. We kept hearing about the street party every Friday in town that everyone goes to from staff and other vacationers. Unfortunately we were not there on Friday so I do not have a personal response to it.
Pools/Beaches- The pools are nice and clean. The pool right beside the beach does get some sand in it but that’s expected when the pool is on the beach and people go from one to the other. This pool had a DJ and music the majority of the time. This is the one if you want a party vibe. The other pools are a lot calmer and quieter. They have a shared bar so you can still get drinks. We split our time between both. As for the beach. The beach gives a nice view. Many people laid out by the beach but we did not see many people swimming at the beach. There are jet skis you can rent. This was a popular attractions.
1. We booked a taxi to go into town for shopping. This was an amazing experience. It was quick ($15/way taxi) and we were able to pick up plenty of souvenirs for a reasonable price. There are also several restaurants in that area (Rodney Bay). We were also given the option to go to the markets/Castries for $30/way which would be ideal if you want to go to a full market. This was set up by the bell hop.
2. We booked an excursion through Nexus Tours (located on the Royalton property) at 5pm to go Sea Trekking (separate review) the next day at 11am. We were told that the excursion included sea trekking & a hike up to the fort. I was able to participate in the Sea Trek. However, my husband was not. For some reason water kept coming in his helmet before we could even start the excursion. It was determined that he would not do it. The tour operator asked for our room number & name. He also identified that my husband did not do it. Upon arriving back to the hotel we went to the office to let them know what happened. We were told to come back after 3pm to see the person we booked with. We returned at 5 & she said the main office was closed but they would be able to meet with us at 930am the next morning. We came back at 930am to be told that the manager (Kendra) would just speak to us on the phone. She proceeded to say we were supposed to dispute any issues within 24 hrs (which we did) & that she could not do a refund bc we didn’t. After explaining it again she said she still needed to call the tour operator and would not be able to until 5pm. Of course I know this isn’t true bc the tour operator had a cell phone which he used to call the hotel office (Nexus) when he first said that my husband did not do it. We came back by that afternoon. Kendra of course had not called even knowing that we were leaving the next day. We go back the next morning (day 3 of this) and she is just calling the tour operator. We end up having to leave the resort without a refund and an email to contact Kendra because she’s still on hold as our taxi has arrived. Honestly, I do not think that she ever called or spoke with the tour operator before the morning we were leaving. She surely did not respond to my email. It was not until I contacted corporate that I even got a response which was that though he did not participate because he did not talk to the person doing the tour about a refund that they would not be issuing one but would give us each a $50 Nexus voucher that has to be used within a year so we’ll more than likely loose it. Due to this experience, I am not sure that I will be booking anymore tours with Nexus.
We had a great time in st. Lucia. The Royalton was nice but not quite as we expected. The food left much to be desired all around. Every restaurant was mediocre. The beach area was ok, not quite what you expect on a Caribbean island. The room was fabulous however and the cleaning crew was top notch!

Most resorts close the pool at sundown between 5-7pm. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
Pool opened till 5:30pm. It's a very quiet resort. Don't expect music or any sort of entertainment. None of the bars played any music. If your looking for silence, then this is the place for you
no they closed the swim up bars at 6 pm there were 2 swim up bars in the regular pools and they had swim up bars in the "upgrade" pools also. so that made it nice to have enough room
Swim up bar service ends around 6pm
How many restaurants and pools do you havw.2 answers

This resort has a pool and a water park, and they have a total of 11 restaurants.
this was one area that I was not happy about. If I would have had an opportunity to upgrade just pools and restaurants - I would have been glad to do that. regular, which I had included 2 pools and a waterpark pool area (way too may kids). the other upgrades included 2 other pools (no kids allowed - and a private beach area - just roped off but not a big deal) the main area included 5 restaurants but the upgraded included 2 other restaurants (one a seafood that everyone said was fabulous)
How long has resort been open ? Are the renvoation complete ?5 answers

Please stay away from this resort. It is not complete. There is still a lot of construction happening. The is alway mud in the walkways. The drainage system is bad, so if it rains there muddy water along the pathways. The workers were using buckets to remove water. None of the landscaping is competed, so don't expect beautiful greenary or flowers. And there was no entertainment. Very boring. No music. Will be great for a person looking for compete silence so you can sleep all day long. This was a total waste of our money.
This resort is currently open, it opened in the Fall of 2016. They did experience heavy rains, but we have not been informed of any construction currently being conducted.
less than 2 years - excellent resort. lot of walking Key was imbedded in your wrist band which was wonderful no hunting for keys. rooms could have been cooler but I've learned to live with that in the Caribbean Service people were extremely nice lots of European guests also
Looks as absolutely new...
Fairly new resort. This coming summer will be 2 years

I heard there was but it must have been limited to another hotel because it was never discussed or opened up as "oh you should go there"
Not at the Royalton
How far is the beach from the resort?5 answers
2 years, 29 months ago
This resort sits on the beach, so it's just however long it takes to walk from your room down to the sandy shores!
on the beach but small walkable beach most of the coast area is cliffs or rocks but the hotel has beach area where you can take out kayaks, wave runners, waterbikes, and regular boats for excursions
It depends in which building will be your room. Longest distance is about 3 min of slow walk.
It is about a 1 hour and 45 min drive. There is only one main road through St. Lucia and it was very curvy. This was the worst part of the trip. Everything else was amazing.
It about 1 1/2 hour long winding road trip.

It is about a 10 minute drive. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
Yes. The whole island is only 14 miles wide and 27 miles long. So nothing is too far away, it's just the roads and time of day of travel that will affect the length of your travel.
It's about 10-15 minutes by taxi.
Yes about 5 minutes away.
Yes it is! We actually walked there from the resort.
