Excellent
Back home from a week here. Had a great time and hope my review helps others that are staying here. the property is very nice and well kept. Easy walking to anywhere. Plenty of shade everywhere you go so you're not in the sun all the time. If you walk on the grass area be aware of uneven sections that I can only assume are made by the iguanas. The rooms were nice and simple, I had a junior deluxe swim out facing the main pool. The showers have nice hot water. Big TV in the room, small fridge that was always kept full with water, soda and cans of beer. There was a musty odor on arrival but it diminished after a day or two. I didn't feel it was due to lack of housekeeping duties, it is a humid area of the country and it is inevitable in my opinion. The main pool is clean, swim up bar opens at 10am and closes at 6pm. The pool i believe closes at 8pm and there's always some sort of activity going on with the animation team (activities crew) Every single employee there were so nice Buffet had everything you can imagine offered. The food was not bad, it's your typical Buffet Restaurants that I went to were excellent, the rodeo grill, bruchetta (Italian) and the hibachi which had the BEST fried rice I've ever had. On the beach is a burger, wing, nachos place. They say the wings are the best. I had the nachos which were very good. The beach was very pretty but when people say bring water shoes due to the rocks, I was expecting a rocky seafloor. What you really need are steel toe boots. These aren't large pebble rocks and broken shell rocks, these are huge boulders that are all over. Tripping or loss of balance and a broken toe is what these bad boys will do to you. It's very unsafe if you have feet issues or balancing problems. But with That being said, the sister resort which is a very short walk down the beach to the right has no boulders, water is more clear and definitely worth the walk. There were zero issues with seagrass anywhere. The animals that I saw there were deer, capybara, coaties, geckos and iguanas the size of small alligators, a cat and colorful and musical birds. All of which don't bother you and just let you walk on by and do your things. The coaties however are ballsy when it comes to food. If you eat at the beach, they are everywhere and will think nothing of jumping on your table, lap or chair to get what you're eating...... and drinking. So if you don't want to share, eat fast and keep your eyes out for the Lil thieves. They WILL go into your room if you don't lock the sliders, no matter what floor you're on. Fyi, The main door going into the rooms don't close and latch on their own, be sure to give it a push or a pull to latch it. As far a what to tip with. I tipped in US dollars, I saw pesos. Euros, Canadian etc. Don't get wrapped up in that, they appreciate any tip currency. Hope this helps. Enjoy your vacation. It's a nice place and only you can make it what you want.

A trip to remember
Had one of the best trips of our lives! Every employee we met went above and beyond for us but I want to give Israel the doorman a special shout out for always being there for us and making us feel like family every time we saw him. Also Bryan in the main buffet was pretty amazing as well! He treated every table like it was his even when we weren’t in his section. If you want to relax and have a good time I would definitely recommend Platinum Yucatan Princess for you!

DONT DO IT AT ANY PRICE
the rooms are run down tired barely cleaned daily always have to call for something toilet paper towels beach towels walk ways to your room aren’t cleaned daily so people who get room service leave there left over food out the door then rodents get in it you call for clean up cause the walk way is slippery from the mayo ketchup mustard cups sit for days on the railings we were on the 3rd floor 2 elevators for 2 buildings one was broken for 3 days and both sounded awful never cleaned inside the place is a food desert no food near the pool for lunch a mile walk to either the beach or buffet food will say the restaurants food is of high quality prepared and presented beautifully but it takes an act of congress to get it and when it does come ice cold extremely slow service waitress's are poorly trained no managers on site over seeing how it is going they want you share menus and trust me this place was empty can’t imagine what it would be like in high season really a lack of staff never mind the staff they have is not trained properly how you call yourself a 5 star is beyond me

Not without issue, but resolved
I recently stayed for a week at this resort with friends. It was my first time at the Princess, though I’ve travelled to Mexico before. The concierge and bellhop team were truly exceptional—saying they were “excellent” wouldn’t do them justice. Israel and Christian went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, able to enjoy activities, and had help whenever we needed it. I’m genuinely grateful for how attentive they were throughout our stay. I am a severe celiac, so I’m extremely sensitive to gluten. On my first day, I met with Jesús in concierge, who was incredibly understanding and provided documentation to show restaurant staff. This was especially helpful at the buffet. After speaking with the head chef, we decided it would be safest for me to order from the gluten-free menu. I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner this way, and everything was perfect. Bryan, who served us at breakfast and lunch, deserves special mention—he consistently went above and beyond. He had our mimosas and breakfast margaritas ready before we even sat down and made sure every detail of our meals was taken care of. Even when I experienced some pushback from service management in the evenings about the gluten-free options (I was often told to “just go to the buffet”), Bryan always made sure I was looked after. There were a few minor issues during our stay, but they were resolved. These things can happen in a busy resort with high turnover—sometimes communication slips. Ana in Platinum Concierge was incredibly helpful when the front desk initially told me there was “nothing they could do.” After I pushed back, I was directed to Platinum Concierge, and she handled it quickly. A few things I would note for future guests—and for my own next visit: A swim-up pool room on the quiet side is non-negotiable for me next time. If you’re celiac or gluten-free, ask lots of questions—many cocktails are not GF, including some margaritas (which I learned the hard way on day one). Definitely participate in the nighttime activities—the staff work hard, and they’re genuinely fun. Book excursions through the hotel. WestJet’s prices were very high, but the on-site options were much more reasonable. Housekeeping was excellent; we had fresh towels and turn-down service daily. The grounds were spotless, and the pool activity team kept the energy up—Fernando, “Gordon Ramsay,” “Flash Gordon,” and the ladies were all fun and enthusiastic. The beach is rocky and has seaweed, though the staff clean it almost hourly. We didn’t swim or sit there, but I enjoyed walking the shoreline and looking for seashells. It’s still the ocean—beautiful, and definitely nicer than anything in Toronto (since we don’t have an ocean at all!). Overall, this resort was a great choice for us, and I would absolutely return. I would also consider it safe for celiacs and guests with allergies. You can dine at the sister resort as well, but note that it’s much more kid-oriented. Trip typeVacation · Friends Rooms5.0Service5.0Location5.0 Hotel highlightsGreat view · Great value RoomsThe rooms are nice,.clean. like any resort a bit musty from the humidity but the doors open to air them out. Keep your balcony doors locked as the coatis are relentless and will break in. WalkabilityNot walkable to town, but walkable to neighboring resort Food & drinksCelaic safe if you make them aware. Noteworthy detailsJeramias at the pool bar has a heavy pour! Israel, Christian at the front lobby stand, and Bryan in the buffet are gems, say Hi and treat them nice! They will take care of you
