Platinum Yucatan Princess Doesn’t Disappoint – Again!
This was our second time here from 11 years ago and it’s still in pretty good shape. Rooms are still lovely and the beds/pillows terrific and you’ll sleep well. Room temperature was fine; we never had to adjust the a/c. Fridge was stocked most of the time with pop and water only had to ask for water on one occasion. In room coffee is hilarious; with single cup servings and two individual packets. Double showers are great. Brought our own face cloths just as a habit. They supplied some but disappeared one day. Hair dryer is terrific so leave yours at home. We also had to request more soap as they didn’t have enough for each of us and the shower. Ala carts are fine; we enjoyed the Italian the best and went back twice. We had a miss with the Asian fusion restaurant. Brazilian was located in the Grand Sunset Princess which shares the property but was quite far away and we had to walk quite a distance but it was terrific once we arrived. Note: the middle hotel is being renovated for the next year so there is no way to “short-cut” through the other hotel to get to the Grand Sunset Princess. You need to either walk the beach in the day or walk down the road from the main lobby or grab a golf cart ride. This wasn’t a problem for us but it would be if you have mobility issues. They were getting a “driver” the following week to address this problem so it could be better by the time the next guests arrive. The buffet is terrific most of the time. We enjoyed the buffet at the Grand Sunset as well; almost better than the PYP. They have a terrific 5th Avenue Sports bar that we ate lunch at featuring a small pub style menu at the Grand. We didn’t have a swim out room but we were able to enjoy everyone else’s from the other side of their pools. The ocean is rocky in front of the PYP so we just walked down the beach and enjoyed the other part. Seaweed was hit a miss. Some days good other days annoying. Bring water shoes. Hurricanes have stolen some of the beach so the loungers are quite close together. We found the gym much bigger and better at the Grand Princess and went 4 times. Tons of stationery bikes, recumbent bikes, treadmills, etc. and loads of free weights and machines. Very, very good job! Jogging through the resort is limited, you won’t get a lot of mileage and some of the paths are covered in moss but it makes for an adventure. We enjoyed the target shooting a lot and Luna was adorable and very customer-friendly. She deserves special recognition! We enjoyed the hotel house wine (white and red) and we were invited to purchase additional wine if desired. The alcohol was fine and we had the opportunity to have higher quality due to the PYP privileges, and we had to give our room number etc. for inventory control on a few occasions when we requested a different liquor (e.g. Hornitos Tequila). They do have a problem with the Coates (sp) as they are marauders and will steal anything in your bag that is edible. Don’t leave items unattended and DON’T FEED THEM. They are also getting into people’s rooms when the doors are left open. They are a nuisance and very bold. Good luck to the PYP in sorting this problem out. There is a crocodile with two babies in the mangrove at the very far end of the Grand resort. If you’re luck you will see them. Go and enjoy!

2 Great Servers
This is for 2 amazing servers we had at the Buffett. Morning was Jerumeel for our breakfast. He started off our morning with great service and our Mexican water( tequila). So sweet, professional and remembered our coffees and expresso the moment we sat down. Now dinner was the best with Salutiel. He was such a sweet, funny, polite man. And had my husband enjoying himself with great conversation. Happy Anniversary to him and his wife. I wish many blessings on these 2 men. And the food was he best…. God Bless

Platinum Yucatan Princess
The staff was amazing. Especially *Enrique (bellhop, he's the absolute best!!)*, Bryon (buffet), Miguel (La Bruschetta), Leidy (beach bar), and Bruno (spa). They will go out of their way to help you any way they can. Always with a smile! We had issues (due to Expedia, and a change in our accommodations) that lead to us waiting an hour to get a ride to our hotel. However, Nexus Tours did what ever they could, and got us a private shuttle, which was lovely, at no extra cost of course. Our room was definitely not perfect, but we are aware that they are to begin renovations in the new year, 2026. The cost also reflected the room condition, so we can't complain too much. We got a heavy discount, but still felt like we were living in luxury. We absolutely LOVED the jacuzzi on the balcony! The food at the restaurants was exceptional!! OH! And the spa was absolutely fantastic! Can't say enough good things about the experiences we had there. Ask for Bruno, he will get everything set up for you. The overall facilities are lovely with lots of greenery and wildlife. High-end finishes and they even decorated for Christmas. Gorgeous lights everywhere, making it look even more magical. The beach is good. There are quite a few rocks and some seaweed, however, you can clearly see the sandy sections. Just swim to any of those spots and you're golden. Figuratively and literally 😊 Cant wait to go back!!!! And it's all because of the lovely people you have working there! Thank you!! See you again!!

Downhill pattern.
A pretty decent trip with several concerns that may affect my future return to this property: 1) A Bellman rom the sister resort Sunset Princess (same owners) - purposely made me wait nearly an hour for a return to Platinum Yucitan Princess because he said I ignored him. I actually was just waiting patiently for a ride in the Sunset lobby, as I’ve done many times before. He was angry with me because he thought I ignored him when actually I didn’t hear him with my Airpods on. Eventually he told me to go down to the lower level and wait at the ‘bus stop’. I told him I had knee and back problems and he said he didn’t care. I told him it was not very nice or good customer service and again, he said he didn’t care. 2) upon arrival at PYP, my room had unfinished maintenance work with dust and parts in the sink. I stepped on a small glass light bulb that fortunately didn’t break but the two pins in the end stabbed me pretty good. They offered me a spa certificate but it turns out it was just for the Hydro therapy circuit and when I tried to use it, they said there wasn’t enough time. 3) On my second visit to the spa, I was promissed the same therapist who was very strong and provided a very deep treatment. But a last minute change resulted in a different therapist who was less experienced and provided a very light massage, even though I asked several times for deeper / harder treatment. The hydro therapy was included this time and was quite pleasant. In fact the jets in the pool were far more effective than the therapist. 4)*** A MAJOR VIOLATION OF PRIVACY*** I asked for a late checkout and it was not an option so I scheduled the Bellman to grab my bags at 11:45 (they came and were great) But at 11:30 as I walked towards the bathroom before a quick shower, a maid used an access card and walked right into my room. There I was, completely naked as we stared ackwardly at each other. She apologized. The hotel took no responsibility for this which is the last thing I’ll remember about the resort. It’s very unfortunate as this is my third visit this year to this resort and from what I can tell, it has become less consistently great. There were many examples of great service not listed here but unfortunately, the negative stuff stands out more.
