A Costa Rican 5 Star
Coming to this resort I think it’s important to keep in mind where you are at. If you are looking for a 5 star resort in Mexico or the Bahamas, this is not for you. The resort itself is clean. There are some areas that could use some upkeep, but it is overall wear and tear. The rooms are pretty spacious overall and again kept clean. We had some minor issues in our room, such as never having hand towels or floor towels and the tv and phone were broken. Overall, staff were pretty receptive and able to fix issues right away. The mini fridge was not kept stocked either. This is not a big deal for us, but for some it seemed to be an area for concern. We had a second floor room and had zero issues with any type of critter getting into it. I was initially skeptical about the amount of reviews stating that scorpions, lizards , crabs and raccoons were getting into their rooms, but this was never an issue for us. We did hear people talking about raccoons on their patios though. The resort does have tons of wildlife. There are iguanas by the pool and in the trees. We saw monkeys in the trees by the pool and grill. There are raccoons around dusk. We heard howler monkeys a few times over our stay. There is also a variety of birds on the daily. We also saw a lot of reviews about the food. Overall, we thought the food was good. The buffet upstairs is limited for options. We never had an issue with breakfast but, it is repetitive. For lunch, we did the grill everyday. The chicken there is actually delicious and the burgers are good too. We did the buffet for dinner every night, but one. There was only one night that we struggled to find enough to fill us. We did the Italian restaurant once and the food there was really really good. There were times where you had to wait to be seated at any of the areas. The pool areas are nice, nothing special. There are tons of chairs at the main pool and when we were there they never were full. The first full day we were there that pool was closed though for “chemicals”. The pool was very dirty and cloudy. The communication surrounding the issues was minimal but, it opened the next day and was much cleaner. The small pool with the pool bar is nice but, we did not spend much time down there as it tended to be a more rowdier crowd. The beach was nice but, if you want to lounge on a beach and get sun, this is not for you. It was very scenic and we enjoyed walking on it. If you are not a walker, maybe have some limitations with mobility or just want to relax 24/7 , this resort may not be for you. We had on average 5,000 steps a day while there and walked about 10 stories (according to the health app). Overall, I would absolutely stay here again.

Beautiful Resort
The room was very clean and most of resort was very clean. The food was good. The only thing that was dissatisfying was how dirty the pools were. We are not big pool people but do enjoy them some. They were cleaned on our last day. Staff was very friendly and the grounds are beautiful.

Waste of money, upsetting experience. Will not recommend this place to anyone.
I would suggest to avoid this hotel at all costs. The check-in experience was terrible. The reception staff (specifically Ayesha) was not only rude unfriendly and unprofessional but did not have the attitude to help and resolve any concerns. You would be surprised by things they tell you when you arrive, for example you pay the early check in fees and then are told that the early check in does NOT include access to the room! Here’s another one, we were told we can book only 1 restaurant for dinner (for our entire trip) and will have to eat only at the buffet on all other days. That meant only one dinner in a restaurant other than the buffet. So ‘all inclusive’ is primarily to have buffet with same menu every day. The food was average, and only few serves were truly trying their best. No concierge was available during our checkout and we had to carry all our luggage from the room to the hotel lobby. The main swimming pool had some bacteria and was unavailable. The list can go on and on. Overall, get a better property for your money and avoid this one.

Do Not go there. A million better places in Costa Rica. The resort is quite old, and the services are minimal.
The resort is pretty old, and the service is more inner city Chicago than Costa Rica..the rental car with Alamo/Enterprise is a complete joke, they don’t care so you should not either. Stay at the mangroove and enjoy the experience! Stay away from this clown show resort!

Friendly staff and beautiful grounds
We had the best service here. The staff is so friendly, food is delicious and the grounds are lovely. We did a couples massage with Dana and Deborah at the spa. It was very relaxing. I can’t express enough how great all the staff was!
