  Great vacation

  Wonderful service and fantastic staff!!! Will definitely come back!! Ventura was awesome- !!!!!! I can tell the staff is trained very well- so polite and professional- keep up the great work!!

  Wonderful experience

  Love the treatment from spa, Suzie was great. The concierge and the Spoon restaurant. Carolina was such a great hostess. Christina and Abdal, excellent concierge. Look forward to going again.

  Beautiful resort for a couples weekend

  Resort was beautiful. Staff was awesome, Fedra went above and beyond with coordinating a special surprise event. Franco at the beach bar was great and Santi at xhale club was awesome. Would go back again!

  Great for big groups

  The resort staff were attentive and excellent. They got our football game on the TV in the AC, which was cool. The food is pretty good and there are several options. We did have a large group 22 of us, and one night at dinner they failed to deliver one person’s dinner. Our room had good AC, but that wasn’t the case everywhere. Stefani, Mariano, and all of the bartenders were fantastic and had us having a great time every day. The location is great to the marina and we love the sea lions acting like clowns. Having a beach is pretty unique and we loved that.

  For 25 years and 50+ all inclusive trips, I have never felt the urge to leave a review. This should be your first clue. You will regret booking this resort. Check in process: You arrive via the alley, yes alley. It is not impressive nor welcoming. Bad first impression. Room: The rooms are cold and barren. White empty walls with the finishes throughout in need of repair. Chips in tile, scratched walls, holes in drapes. The rooms are also extremely hot making sleeping difficult. Called for a fan which came a day later after complaining twice and being told no initially. Many guests at resort were complaining about the lack of a/c. Housekeeping: Stayed four nights, house cleaning came twice. Only received turndown service once and that was when I called for it. Resort is filthy. Room service food in hallway all day (housecleaning puts them outside of room, someone else responsible for picking up in hallway). Same trash on floor our entire stay meaning nobody swept the rooms. Mini-fridge never refilled during 4 night stay. Room service: Woefully slow. Simply didn’t arrive one day…ever. When I called and asked if it was coming the person who answered the phone incredulously stated “it’s coming”. In other words….f- off. Restaurants: Oh my! Where do I start? The coffee shop has very limited variety and was completely unstaffed upon arrival once. Nobody around. When present, they give you dessert in a paper bag, thus forcing you to eat with your hands. A saucer and a fork would be awesome. Breakfast buffet has the most limited choices I’ve ever seen and it’s outdoors. When I say filthy, I mean filthy. Also set up late every morning. Last night’s theme party decorations are also stored in the middle of the dining area of the breakfast buffet. Not decorating it…..simply piled in the middle as a storage area which people walk around. The flies are an added bonus. Makes breakfast quick though. Had a waitress at the ala cart breakfast restaurant tell us we could go next door to get a cappuccino if we wanted as she would need to walk over there to get it. Drink refills are not going to happen. You will have to get up and do that yourself. They are simply incapable. The cold single use plastic syrup for pancakes guys……really? As far as the food, it just isn’t good. I don’t know what else to say. I could expound as to why, but what’s the point. Just not good. The main lobby bar never has glassware. They give you your martini in a plastic cup….classy! But hey….the bartenders are busy watching soccer on the television, so does it really matter? What should be the hub of the resort is empty because of bad service, bad drinks, and horribly uncomfortable bar stools. Pool: The pool is small and inconsequential. The pool service is outstanding! Highlight of the trip was Guillermo. Pool entertainment is discombobulated and boring. Same dumb DJ everyday. There is no pool concierge helping with chairs and or towels. You will do this yourself. Beach: Whilst the beach is advertised as swimmable, it really isn’t. You can wade into the water but you are pushed to and fro by waves making it less than relaxing. Service at beach is non-existent. Never had a waiter ask us if we needed anything beachside. Resort layout. This is the big one here. To get from your room to the beach/pool/majority of restaurants, you must walk across an alley from one building to another. The sales pitch from cocaine and weed dealers in the alley every time you walk to dinner is an added treat. Oh, also the opportunity to take a photo with an iguana is also special. The trek is long in heels for women….maybe the cocaine would help? Staff: The resort has a mix(like most places) of excellent staff, and middling staff. The issue with this resort, is the extraordinarily large number of bad staff. The few excellent were all older and probably carryovers from a bygone era when the resort was nice. Much of the staff were new hire and frankly not good at their jobs. Inattentive and spent a large amount of time on their phones. Every area of the resort is understaffed and as a result slow and inefficient. At the nicer resorts you will see managers actively ensuring their areas are operating at a high level. Only saw one manager during this trip and she was on her phone in the breakfast restaurant. Overall: The resort is simply understaffed with undertrained people. It’s in need of refurbishing. Broken pool tiles, wood panels peeling, doors don’t close, pool decking falling apart. If you pay close attention to the reviews of this place you will see time and time again the attraction for this place isn’t the resort itself it’s the location next to the marina. I assure you, it doesn’t come close to surmounting the resorts shortcomings. Take the three dollar Uber from RIU which is two minutes away. You will be happier with the resort and it’s worth the two or three dollars for the ride. As always, the resort will respond to this review like all the others on this site with a bland statement with no real answers. Happy travels!
