Dec 05, 2025Gem of a time at the Blue Diamond
Last-Minute Trip That Turned Into a Great Find We ended up at the Blue Diamond last minute after Hurricane Melissa cancelled our Jamaica trip. With almost no time to research, this was the only place that checked all our boxes for a couples getaway: adults only, all-inclusive, smaller, bookable through WestJet Vacations, and still within budget. It turned out to be a great choice. Arrival & Check-In: Staff greeted us at the car with cool towels and a warm “welcome home,” which set the tone right away. Our luggage was handled for us, check-in was smooth with drinks waiting, and they walked us through everything we needed to know. We were then taken to our room by golf cart. The Room: We booked a Cenote-Lagoon Junior Suite and it was incredible. Just over 1,000 square feet, private, quiet, and surrounded by lush jungle. Coatis wandered through looking curious and hungry. Wifi worked well around the resort, though cell service was hit or miss. Dining: Dinner at Ambar was a highlight every time. Service was outstanding, the drinks were well made (great Old Fashioneds), and the food was on another level compared to most all-inclusive resorts. It felt like a real dining experience, not just resort food. Getting Around: It’s about a 10–15 minute walk to the beach and pool depending on your room location, or you can hop on a golf cart. We never waited more than five minutes. Bikes are available too, though we didn’t use them. Pool & Beach: There were always open loungers at the pool, even later in the morning. Towels were stocked all day. The beach chairs filled a bit faster, but we were perfectly happy at the pool. The ocean is easy to access and the beach is clean and sandy. There’s no breakwater, so the waves can be rough when the weather kicks up. Construction Noise: There’s a new resort going up next door, so yes, you’ll hear construction during regular hours (Mon–Fri, roughly 9–5). For us it was only noticeable on the walk between our room and the pool and didn’t affect our stay. Location: The jungle setting is beautiful. It’s about 45 minutes from the Cancun airport and around 30 minutes from Playa del Carmen, which worked well for excursions. Value: For a last-minute booking, it wasn’t cheap, but we still felt it delivered solid value for what we got. Cleanliness: No complaints. Staff works hard and it shows. Service: Five stars. Everyone goes out of their way for guests, and we saw this again and again. Sleep Quality: Our bed felt very firm. It seemed new, just firmer than expected. Some rooms apparently have pillow-top mattresses, so that might be something to request. It didn’t ruin our trip, but worth noting. The Staff: We can’t thank the team enough. We didn’t catch every name, but several stood out: Juverli: my favourite bartender, full of personality. Eric: excellent sommelier with spot-on recommendations. Nick: the best cart driver. Vamanos and choo choo!! Fernando: breakfast and lunch always came with smiles and jokes. Carlos: made check-in an absolute breeze. Also, thank you to Alejandro, Julio, Bernabe, Fernando, Jenny, Dyana, Francisco, and many more whose names we didn’t catch but absolutely made an impact.

Pleasant escape
One of my favorite parts was how peaceful the whole place is. You can wander around without hearing a thing except nature. The beach is beautiful and super chill. The food was tasty and the service stood out too.

Totally relaxing experience
Everything was excellent! The spa is beautiful and restful, the beach is very clean and the landscaping is amazing. Very spacious rooms and delicious food.

Beautiful property
I personally love this resort, it is so natural and beautiful with a very relaxed atmosphere. The beach is the classic Caribbean perfection. The service is great. The property is pretty big, but they have golf carts that can pick you up and take you to your room but walking around is actually really nice, and there are bikes you can grab too.
