Best Food & Service in Cancun
We’ve stayed at a number of Secrets resorts as well as Hyatt Ziva, Dreams, Breathless, etc… and we’ve tried a handful of other brands of all-inclusive in Riviera Maya as well… but Secrets Maroma Beach is the only one I’ve bothered to review because it was THE BEST food and service we’ve ever had at an all-inclusive. The hotel is great, the rooms are nice and spacious the beach is perfect and much nicer than other Cancún beaches… but the food quality and service really stood out. Victor did a great job taking care of us on the beach every day and we were never without drinks or snacks, he even knew what to bring us before we asked! The breakfast buffet was good (I mean it’s a buffet so “good” is about as good as it gets) but the individual restaurants were really great and far above our expectations and other experiences. Victor the manager of Oceania was an amazing host and Beder the chef gave us a great meal and even came out to thank us for dining. The Italian restaurant was probably our favorite and we have very high standards for Italian food. Great experience at the 6-person Teppanyaki grill which we always do at an all-inclusive but even though the meal and show was the same the food was just better! Everywhere we went concierges, waiters and hotel staff were gracious and helpful and quick to ask if everything was okay and if anything could be better. We will 100% be back… Secrets Maroma Beach checked all of our boxes and has earned themselves a repeat customer.

Return to tranquility
This is me and my baby Steph second time coming here, we were here last year too. And the second time was even more enjoyable. Steph wasn’t feeling well so we utilized room service. Let me tell you, if you want to go out to the shows or just to mingle don’t get room service because they will spoil you. The dishes were well prepared, timely and delicious 😋 the room service attendant’s were fantastic, what ever you order when delivered they read it back off a receipt, we were very impressed. Overall the staff from the lobby to the swimup bar were helpful and personable. We stayed in the preferred section, our concierge was Miquel last year it was Roger. The service didn’t skip a beat, Miquel like Roger was personable and attentive. A few observations. Steph wasn’t feeling well, she went to the store in the lobby to get allergy medication. The cost was too high for what she wanted. My suggestion: Packaging and selling certain items as singles would save travelers money and be even more profitable to the resort. The concierge’s office. The offices are not climate controlled. The concierge’s do fantastic job, they are constantly on the move, please enclose their offices and provide air conditioning. In closing, secrets Maroma was great, definitely 5 stars. We will be coming back. I highly recommend this resort.

6 Nights in Paradise: Secrets Maroma Exceeded Expectations
We stayed at Secrets Maroma Beach for six nights, and overall, it was an excellent experience. From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave, the staff goes out of their way to be as accommodating as possible. Everyone is incredibly friendly and, impressively, many of them greet you by name—a thoughtful touch that really adds to the personalized feel of the stay. Check-In: We arrived in the early afternoon and were welcomed with champagne, which was a great start. The only downside was having to sit through a brief pitch about timeshare options and a rundown of the resort’s “coupons” for amenities. While not overly pushy, it did take away a bit from the initial excitement. Room: We stayed in a Preferred Club partial ocean view room, and it was immaculate. The entire space, including the bathroom, was spotless and well-maintained. Dining: When it came to dinner, our top picks were the Japanese hibachi and the Mexican restaurant. Despite hearing from staff and reading reviews that the Italian and French restaurants were standouts, we respectfully disagree. Coming from New York and being pretty particular about food, we found those two to be underwhelming. The daytime food by the pool, however, was a highlight. Each day featured a different themed cuisine, plus there was a separate area with a wide variety of options—quesadillas, gyros, pizza, sandwiches, burgers, fries, and even soft-serve ice cream. Honestly, the poolside food surpassed many of the dinner options. They also have a café which is 24/7 & excellent coffee. We were getting iced lattes and shots of espresso religiously. Beach: Maroma Beach is stunning and definitely lives up to the hype, but the sargassum was a bit of a nuisance. It wasn’t as bad as some reviews suggested, but there were a couple of days when swimming in the ocean wasn’t really an option. That said, the pool was a great alternative. Just a tip: get to the pool early if you want a day bed—by 8:30 AM, most are already taken. Preferred Club Access: While the Preferred Club does offer top-shelf liquor, we found the upgrade wasn’t entirely worth it. You don’t really take advantage of the club while you’re hanging out at the pool all day, since you’re mostly ordering from the staff walking around. It could be beneficial to offer “preferred club perks” that apply to your time at the pool. If we had to do it over again, we probably would’ve skipped the upgrade and saved a few hundred dollars. Pro tip: if your cocktails feel a little light, order a side shot and pour it in—worked like a charm for us! Entertainment: There’s never a dull moment here. Whether it’s a themed dinner around the pool, a nightly show, or daytime activities like water aerobics, beach volleyball, or friendly competitions, there’s always something happening. You can be as active or relaxed as you want—there’s truly something for everyone. Final Thoughts: We had a fantastic time and would absolutely return to this resort. In fact, we’re now curious to explore other Secrets locations based on this experience.

Honest Review from an Experience Secrets Guest
Overall my experience was average. The campus is very nice and clean though some renovations were ongoing. The food and alcohol were well above average from my previous experience with Secrets (I've been to at least 5 others in various locations). Service was below expectations. As a preferred guest we did not get a personal butler like at all the rest of the Secrets I've visited. Also, I've never been to a secrets were I could not reserve at the restaurant as a preferred guest. ALL of the restaurants require pants to sit inside. The problem here is that most people don't bring pants to a tropical vacation and the outside seating is limited. So when you have to wait over an hour to eat and would prefer not to go to the buffet we have a problem. It was so bad that we constantly missed the evening shows due to the wait at the restaurants. What we were able to see of the shows were above expectations though. The beach is nice and white but there was a seaweed problem at the time we visited. I am not going to ding them on this as they had tractors trying to mitigate this issue. All-in-all, this is a very lively location but to have an exceptional time you could get away with not getting the preferred package and making sure all gentlemen pack pants for dinner and be willing to eat earlier.
